Wood Barrel Die Focused Card with Nicky

Hello, this is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studio blog and I'm sharing a 'Fall feel' card, focusing on our new Wood Barrel Die, with a fun sentiment.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Wood Barrel Die Focused Card by Nicky Meeks (featuring Punny Apple Greetings, Crisp Apple Dies, Buffalo Plaid Dies)

I created an A2 panel of green cardstock and applied it to my card base.  I then used the Buffalo Plaid Straight Die to die cut the white background panel which I glued to the green panel.

I die cut the Wood Barrel Die from kraft cardstock and for the metal strapping around the barrel I used black cardstock. I glued the parts together and used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink to ink blend some of the barrel for shading. I backed the barrel with foam tape and applied it to the background.

I then took the small apple from the Crisp Apple Die and die cut it from green cardstock multiple times. I ink blended the green apples with The Stamp Market's 'Cherry' Ink  and I die cut the stalks from brown cardstock and the leaves using the same green cardstock. I blended the leaves with a little of The Stamp Market's 'Gumdrop' Ink. Using glue, I assembled all of the apples in a production line.

With the apples assembled I then slowly layered them into the barrel using little pieces of foam tape on the reverse. I kept a couple of apples to use at the bottom of the barrel along with some fallen leaves. With one of the apples I stamped the smiley face which is included in the Punny Apple Greetings sentiment stamp set.

I then stamped the sentiment in two parts and applied these with foam tape and finished by using my white gel pen to highlight certain points.

Thank you for stopping by to read about this project, I'll be back next Friday with something new. Happy crafting!

Happy Howl-o-ween Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm so happy to share this spooky cute and colorful card with you today showcasing the super adorable pups from Happy Howl-o-ween. They're so fun, I adore them, and I hope to be able to feature them on more cards in the coming weeks.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Happy Howl-o-ween Card by Marine Simon (featuring Scenic Route, Too Cute To Spook, Fall Scenes)

I went for quite a simple background for this card, and started off by cutting a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I divided in two parts: the sky in the upper part, and grass in the lower part. For the sky, I applied, from top to bottom, salty ocean and prize ribbon oxide inks. I splattered water droplets that I dried using a paper towel. I mixed a drop of liquid stardust with a couple of water droplets, added more splatters to the sky, and next I mixed some black soot oxide ink with water to make even more splatters. For the grass, I started off by applying mowed lawn oxide ink on the whole section, and next blended some rustic wilderness oxide ink at the bottom and on the sides. I mixed some rustic wilderness oxide ink with water and added splatters on my green section. And then I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and added splatters all over the panel.

I stamped my images on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, my Graph'it brush markers, and my Ohuhu markers. And for some extra fun, I picked a purple, aqua, green, yellow and orange color palette for the houses and lights.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Happy Howl-o-ween - dogs • Scenic Route - houses, lights • Fall Scenes - bats, small pumpkins, trees • Too Cute To Spook - spiders, tiny Jack 'O Lantern face.

Once the coloring was done, I white heat embossed my "Wishing you a grrreat Halloween" greeting from Happy Howl-o-ween at the bottom of my panel, and then attached all my images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I added a drop of white blizzard nuvo drops on each light to make them all shine, and finished my card by adding highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen.

And that's it! Here's to a fun and colorful Halloween! Thanks so much for stopping by, and see you next time!

Distinctive Door Die Focused Card with Tina

Hello crafters, it’s Tina and today I am making a warm and cozy card featuring the beautiful Distinctive Door Dies. For this fall inspired scene I also needed to bring on some colorful layered pumpkins (Pumpkin Patch dies).

Sunny Studio Stamps: Distinctive Door Die Focused Fall Themed Card by Tina Henkens (featuring Distinctive Door Holiday Add-on, Fall Kiddos, Autumn Greetings, Frilly Frame Dies, Pumpkin Patch Dies)

To start, I cut a rectangle background panel with the outer die from Frilly Frames Chevron and turned it into a brick wall using a stencil from my stash and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide.

After gluing this piece to a white card base, I started cutting all the elements I needed for this card from white Neenah paper using the Distinctive Door Dies and the Pumpkin Patch dies. The wreath and bow are part of the Distinctive Door Holiday Add-On.

I used a sticky mat to keep all the elements in place while I ink blended with my blending brushes. The muted colors for this card are Tattered Rose, Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Fossilized Amber, Salvaged Patina, and Uncharted Mariner. For the sweet girl and boy from Fall Kiddos, I selected Copic markers in similar tones.

While browsing my stash I found this amazing sentiment (Autumn Greetings) and realized it would perfectly fit on top of the door frame (Versafine Onyx Black ink). To put the scene together, I used repositionable tape and worked in layers. As a final embellishment, I added a few Gold Jewels.

Thank you for joining me and happy crafting!

Distinctive Door Die Focused Card with Amanda

Hey there, crafty friends! It’s Amanda here sharing a card I made using the new Distinctive Door Dies! I had so much playing with these products and creating some festive Holiday cards!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Distinctive Door Die Focused Winter Holiday Card by Amanda Fitterer (featuring Toasty Hugs, Inside Greetings: Seasons, Distinctive Door Holiday Add-On Dies)

To create this cozy little card, I die-cut the pieces from the Distinctive Door Dies. I also die-cut the wreath, bow, trees, and Christmas lights from the Distinctive Door Holiday Add-on Dies. I love how versatile these die sets are! If you missed my Sunny Studio’s 9th Birthday Celebration Blog Hop card using them on a Halloween card, you can view that blog post here!

I used Copic markers to color all of my pieces. I love using Copic markers - as opposed to colored cardstock or ink blending - because I feel like I can give the pieces more depth this way. I place the pieces on a piece of scrap paper so that I don't ruin my workspace!

Next, I stamped my cozy little friends from the Toasty Hugs Stamp Set. I colored them in with Copic markers and then cut them out using the coordinating diesFor my background, I used a piece of paper from the Joyful Holiday Paper pack. The “house” is a piece of cardstock ink blended with Catherine Pooler Melon Ice ink.

I stamped my sentiment from the Inside Greetings Seasons Stamps with black ink on the house.  (PS, I LOVE this stamp set! All of the sentiments are just perfect for the inside or the front of a holiday card!)

You’ll see I also added a few snowflakes inked up with Catherine Pooler Cummerbund ink. I borrowed these from the Snowmen in Sweaters Stamps. Of course, I needed to add a few sequins as well - no card is complete without them!

That’s my adorable holiday card to share with you today!!  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you find some time to get crafty today! Thanks for stopping by the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today! Hope you have fun shopping the new goodies from the New Release!

Autumn Garland Cards with Leanne

Hello everyone! Leanne here and I have a two for one post today showcasing the beautiful Autumn Garland stamp set. This set includes a large swag like image that can stand alone making it very easy to complete a card.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Autumn Garland Fall Themed Cards by Leanne West (featuring Buffalo Plaid Dies)

I decided to makes two cards with slightly different layouts. Both cards have a textured check background created with the Buffalo Plaid Diagonal Die and some solid color card stock that coordinates with colors in the garland.

I Copic colored the garland image and then used the companion Autumn Garland die to cut it out.  You may notice subtle differences between my two autumn garlands. Can you spot them?

Copic colors used are listed below:
pinecones E41, E42, E44; dark berries R56, R59; light berries R81, R85, R89; orange leaves YR12, YR16, YR18; yellow leaves Y32, Y35, YR24; green leaves YG61, YG63, G40, G46

One is stamped in black ink and the other in brown.  The garland image on the mustard yellow card has been splattered with white and gold paint. The last difference is I colored the berries and green areas on the orange card a bit lighter.  This seemed to brighten up the image and make the orange leaves stand out more.

To finish this card I added the greeting (included in the Autumn Garland stamp set) and some jute twine.
