Roly Poly Penguins Red Gingham Winter Holiday Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi popping in to share some winter-themed holiday cards featuring our Roly Poly Penguins Stamps. 

I made all my cards today using the same basic elements, only changing out the penguin, the object he (or she) is holding, and the customized greeting. I started by trimming a sheet of white 120 lb. cardstock into four A2-sized panels, which I die-cut and embossed with the Buffalo Plaid Diagonal Die. I then inked them up using the coordinating Diagonal & Straight Stripes Stencils using Candied Apple Distress Ink. 

I filmed a short video showing how those products were designed to work together HERE. 

Next, I worked on creating my focal point scenes. I cut the largest Scalloped Circle 2 Die from white cardstock and then layered it over a Scalloped Circle 1 Die cut from red cardstock. I cut a 2-7/8" Stitched Circle Large Die from white cardstock and inked it with Peacock Feathers Distress ink for my sky with white gel pen dots for snowfall. I cut another partial circle from white cardstock and die-cut a stitched slope through the center using the Slimline Nature Border Dies to form my snowy hill. As the star of each card, I paired the Roly Poly Penguins Stamps with the tree and gift images from the Holiday Express Stamps. Last, I heat-embossed a customized greeting to fit each individual card theme using the Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamps, which I added to the Brilliant Banner 4 Die cut from aqua cardstock.

Here's a closer look at the four cards from this set, which I created assembly line style. Making cards as small sets, like this one, with your supplies already out and ready, is a great way to speed up cardmaking while keeping the creative process interesting.

Happy Owlidays Tags with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm back with a new set of holiday tags/ornaments featuring the super cute owls from Happy Owlidays, another set I've had for years but never used on a project, and it was fun to color those three beautiful wreaths and adorable owls.

I started off by creating my three shaker tags, they're all identical, and here are the different steps:

1. I cut a large Scalloped Tag Circle panel out of light brown woodgrain cardstock, and cut a opening out of it using a 2,5 inches circle die from my stash to turn my panel into a circle frame,

2. I applied vintage photo distress ink to the edges of my frame, mixed that same ink with water and added brown splatters to the frame, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink.

3. I cut a whole Scalloped Tag Circle panel out of acetate, attached it at the back of my frame and then attached foam strips all around the frame to create space for my shaker accessories.

4. I poured White Snowflake confetti, sparkling sequins and tiny sugar crystals inside the tag.

5. I cut a whole Scalloped Tag Circle panel again out of a Joyful Holiday red & white snowflake pattern paper, peeled all the backing papers off the foam strips, and attached my snowflake panel to totally close my shaker tag.

6. And to finish the back of my tag nicely, I cut one last Scalloped Tag Circle panel out of red cardstock, and stuck that tag panel at the back of my shaker tag using liquid glue.

Next I stamped my Happy Owlidays images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink, I cut them all using the coordinating dies and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers. When the coloring was done, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and then stuck them on each shaker tag using 1mm and 2mm foam squares.

For my three greetings, I used the Brilliant Banner 4 die set, which matched perfectly the shape of my tags. I cut three front pieces and three back pieces out of red cardstock and white heat embossed "Happy Owl-idays" from Happy Owlidays on each front piece. Next I stuck each front piece to a back piece using 1mm foam squares, and then attached each banner at the bottom of each shaker tag using foam squares again.

Finally, I added a handle to each tag/ornament using twine with gold thread details, tied three bows using dark red ribbon and attached a bow at the top of each tag using liquid glue.

Love & Light Hanukkah Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi popping in to share some Hanukkah cards featuring our Love & Light Stamps.

My first card showcasing the Love & Light Stamps utilizes the menorah candles, two olive branches, and the dove from the set. I started by die-cutting the largest 4-1/8" circle from the Stitched Circle Large Dies from white cardstock and then arranging 11 olive branches in a continuous circle using the edge of my die-cut circle as a guide. I then used the negative heart space around the die-cut menorah image as a template, applying a little adhesive to the back of each candle and slipping it into place. I could then easily lift and remove my template, leaving all the candles perfectly spaced. I created a scalloped card base using the Scalloped Square 1 Large Dies, which I topped with a blue gingham print from the Classic Gingham Paper pack, cut out using the Stitched Square Dies. Lastly, I heat-embossed the sentiment "Wishing You Love & Light" by mixing words from the Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamps with the word "love" from the Love & Light Stamps onto a Brilliant Banner 1 Die.

For my second card using the Love & Light Stamps, I stamped and die-cut the Star of David banners, dove with olive branch, and the "Happy Hanukkah" greeting. For my background, I swiped a piece of white cardstock with the Salty Ocean Distress ink pad by applying the felt pad directly to my cardstock until it was fully covered and saturated.  I then heated it up with my heat gun until it was almost dry, leaving it slightly damp before embossing it with the Moroccan Circle Embossing Folder. I then pressed my Versamark Ink pad into the embossed surface until it was fully coated. Next, I sprinkled the piece with Chipped Sapphire Distress Embossing Glaze and heated it with my heat gun. I had experimented with skipping a step and tried applying the powder only to white cardstock. However, I achieved a richer cobalt blue color that resembles kitchen tiles by using it over the bright blue cardstock. I completed my card by stamping the sentiment with Versafine Clair Blue Belle Ink and framing the greeting with the Stitched Oval 2 Die cut from white cardstock. This card came together quickly and would be great for mass-producing with plenty of "wow" factor!
