Sneak Peek: Introducing Afternoon Tea Teacup & Teapot Stamps & Dies

Hello, and welcome to day 2 of our Summer Sneak Peek Week!  All this week I am sharing cards showcasing our newest collection, which will be available for purchase this Friday!

Card No. 1: Today, I am sharing our new Afternoon Tea Stamps, which include a cute teapot, two different coordinating teacups, a saucer, a spoon, teabags, sugar cubes, a floral arrangement, one large Mother's Day greeting, and a number of other punny everyday greetings to enjoy this set all year long.

For my first card, I started by die-cutting a stitched panel from the Spring Fever Paper pack using the Frilly Frames Quatrefoil Dies. I then layered an embossed, scalloped mat cut from white cardstock over that, using the Frilly Frames Lattice Dies. I started by die-cutting the lacy outer edge with the outer die, then ran the mat through my die-cutting machine again with the inner die and an embossing mat so it would emboss the cardstock rather than cut it out. Lastly, I cut a stitched sentiment strip using the Slimline Pennant Dies cut from a pink gingham print found in the Gingham Pastels Paper pack. It felt a bit plain on its own, so I dressed it up by cutting small scalloped trim for both sides from lavender cardstock with the Slimline Basic Border Dies. The tiny, layered flowers I used to decorate my teapot and draw attention to my greeting are also included in the new stamp set.

Card No. 2: Next up, I have a Mother's Day card using the new Afternoon Tea Stamps. I started by coloring three teacups and saucers with floral to adorn the top of each with my Copic Markers, and then framed them all lined up with our Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies. I inked up behind the row of cups with a blend of spun sugar and picked Raspberry Distress inks, then tucked the oversized Mother's Day greeting between the last two teacups. This simple design came together quite quickly after my images were colored, and I love how it turned out!

Card No. 3: For this fun card featuring the Afternoon Tea Stamps, I used the polka-dot and partial polka-dot images from the set to staple a polka-dot pattern, then colored my images in a bold red & white print. I wish I had a tea set like this in real life! I accented my scene with some lemons from the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps and framed them all using the Frilly Frames Polka-Dot Dies. Lastly, I stamped the punny greetings from the set with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 4: My next Afternoon Tea card stacks the two teacup styles into a fun rainbow of four cups with a saucer. To make them look like they are stacked inside each other, I fussy-cut and trimmed a slit along the side of each cup. I also alternated the two styles so that the handles alternated between the left and right sides. I experienced a die-cutting mishap on my second card, but I hated to throw out the entire piece, so I repurposed the good parts of the die-cut for this card, using the Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies to bleed off the top and bottom. I also cut two 1" strips of a rainbow gingham print from the Spring Fever Paper pack to adhere on the two outside edges to pull together all the colors from my teacups.

Card No. 5: For this Mother's Day Card using the Afternoon Tea Stamps, I started by embossing a white cardstock panel using the Dapper Diamond Embossing Folder. I then trimmed a bit from both the top and bottom to allow a pink-striped print from the Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper pack to show through. This is yet another great way to use up the extra scraps you have leftover after trimming an A2 panel from a 6x6 patterned paper. I have a clear bag where I always store my scraps, and I always reach for it first when I need just a little something extra to dress up my cards.

For my focal point, I colored a teacup with a mismatched saucer filled with flowers and stamped the large Mother's Day greeting from the set in a coordinating Lilac ink. I then arranged all the cute little layered flowers I had already stamped earlier for my first card, creating a floral diamond print in the background. This card was almost entirely made from scraps on my desk, so I was super happy with how it came together. In fact, the green teacup was a leftover from my last card when I realized I had accidentally colored the wrong teacup green, and I wondered how I was ever going to make a green teacup work on another card, so it just goes to show you can almost rescue any creative mistake.

Card No. 6: Yesterday, I shared a sneak peek of our new Sweet As Can Bee Stamps coming out on Friday, and today I have another card combining that set with our new Afternoon Tea Stamps. I started by cutting four 3/8" strips of striped paper from our Spring Fever Paper pack and mitering the corners for the strips on the left and right sides to allow the stripe to show on all four sides of my card. I then added a stitched mat, cut from white cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Lastly, I arranged all the images from the two sets to create a darling scene with the teapot, teacup, honey, lemon, and bumblebees, before I stamped the punny greeting on either side of my teapot.

Sneak Peek: Introducing Sweet As Can Bee Bumblebee Stamps & Dies

Hello, and welcome to the first day of our Summer Sneak Peek Week!  All this week, I am sharing cards showcasing our newest collection, which will be available for purchase this Friday!

Card No. 1: Today I am sharing cards with our adorable new Sweet As Can Bee Stamps! This set comes with so many fun images and four adorable bumblebees, allowing you to create so many different scene-style cards or add darling bee accents. My first card uses all four bees from the new set, along with the beehive and our Tree Branch Dies. I framed my little scene using the outer scalloped border left over after cutting out the Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace Dies. I stamped and heat-embossed my punny sentiment onto a Brilliant Banner 2 Die that had been die-cut from a yellow gingham print from the Gingham Jewel Tones Paper pack. Lastly, I added small highlights to my bee's wings, the hive, and the leaves with a white gel pen.

Card No. 2: Up next is a clean & simple card using only elements found in the new Sweet As Can Bee Stamps and coordinating Dies. I started by masking off the four sides of my card using Spellbinders Masking Sheets, trimmed into strips. These can often be stored safely away and reused for future cards. I then inked up the center with distress inks, blending Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Prize Ribbon. I then positioned each of my sunflowers and used a ruler with a paper-piercer tool to mark out the stems for hand-stitching with embroidery floss. At the top of my scene, I added two bumblebees, paired with the heart trail from the set, and heat-embossed the phrase "Bee Happy" in between them. Lastly, I trimmed my panel and mounted it on black cardstock to frame my scene like a piece of artwork and give my card a dramatic pop. I love the way this turned out!

Card No. 3: Next up is another somewhat simple card with the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps, this time using the jar of honey with the honey dipper from the set. For my background, I stamped the hexagon from the set, which was purposefully sized to work together with our Frilly Frames Hexagon Dies. I created a background hexagon template using the Sweet As Can Bee Dies so I could take turns popping the hexagons in from the Frilly Frames die to stamp them in just the right spot each time. I chose to stamp them in two alternating shades of yellow ink to add a slight variation and interest to my background. I found my ink was starting to bleed as it dried, though, so I was able to maintain the stitched edge within the hexagons by heating them up with my heat tool and tweezers. I completed my card with a heat-embossed greeting from the set and added a striped print to the background using a patterned paper from the Striped Silly Paper pack.

Card No. 4: For this card using the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps, I went with a complementary color scheme, inking my background panel with a blend of Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet, and Villainous Potion Distress Ink. I then die-cut the background using the Dotted Diamond Landscape Die and added a strip of coordinating gingham-patterned paper from the Gingham Jewel Tones Paper pack. I then created a tabletop scene with the honey jar, honey dipper, lemons, sunflowers, leaves, bumblebees, and hexagons from the set. A bee greeting from the set, stamped onto a pennant strip from the Notebook Photo Corners Dies, completed my card.

Card No. 5
: Next up is another bumblebee and sunflower card using the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps. I added a strip of green "pattered paper" to the bottom half of my flower border, inked to perfectly match the leaves, using our Background Basics 2 Stamps. I paired the "Buzzin' By to Say" from the Sweet As Can Bee set with the large oversized "Happy Birthday" greeting from the Big Bold Greetings Stamps. Lastly, I added three adorable bees around my greeting.

Card No. 6: For my last card of the day with the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps, I couldn't resist using that same hexagon template from my third card to stamp the hexagons in a rainbow of colors to line up for a fun background. To help me position the hexagons, I used a clear ruler with a pencil to lightly mark the center axis. I then started with the row of yellow hexagons, working my way out on both sides of that center line. When I was done, I heat-embossed a white greeting onto black cardstock using our Color Me Happy Stamps and the Color Word Die. I added three bumblebees and a stitched trail from the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps to complete my card.

These are the ink colors I used to create my rainbow background:
