Mermaid Kisses & Oceans of Joy Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some sea-themed cards for summer using our Mermaid Kisses Stamps and Oceans of Joy Stamps.

For my first card using the Mermaid Kisses Stamps, I paired the mermaids with the dolphin and the octopus from our Oceans of Joy Stamps, the palm trees from our Sending Sunshine Stamps and Ocean View Stamps, and the island from our Tropical Scenes Stamps. To create the waves to tuck my critters between, I cut four layers using our Catch A Waves Dies. I added the sunrays behind my island, using a soft lilac print from our Spring Sunburst Paper pack, and stamped my punny birthday greeting using a sentiment from the Mermaid Kisses set.

For my second card, I started with a sparkly background I originally created for the posts shared HERE and HERE. This was my first attempt where I had some of the glitter gel seep below the stencil I had made with our Frilly Frames Lattice Dies. However, always the saver, I hated to throw it away, so I held onto it for six years "just in case." Well, I finally put it to good use, hiding most of my boo-boos behind the giant whale (and turtle) from our Oceans of Joy Stamps. It adds such a pretty sparkle to the scene in person! I added coral and kelp to my sea floor using images from our Best Fishes Stamps, Magical Mermaids Stamps, and the Mermaid Kisses Stamps. Lastly, I added the mermaid and sentiment from the Mermaid Kisses, stamping it onto a pennant strip from the Notebook Photo Corner Dies.

Mermaid Kisses Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today. Since it is officially MerMay and summer is just around the corner, I thought I'd share a mermaid card with you featuring these absolutely adorable images from the Mermaid Kisses set. I love how this set is packed with so many mermaids, fishes and ocean floor decor. And of course, I could not resist the sweet sentiment from the set Mermaid Wishes, Starfish Wishes!

I stamped the images from the Mermaid Kisses stamps and the rock from the Ocean View stamps sets onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Mermaid Kisses Dies and Ocean View Dies to diecut them out. I colored them with Copic markers and highlighted them with a white gel pen.

For the background, I took a piece of white cardstock (4.25" x 5.5") and masked off the two sides. I ink blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. I used the Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to stamp a few bubbles onto the white space. I also stamped the Mermaid Kisses, Starfish Wishes sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. 

I adhered the rock to the panel with liquid adhesive. I adhered the rest of the colored images with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. The panel was adhered to a white A2 card base. I finished the card with a few drops from the Clear Drop Mix.

Window Trio Heart Die Focused Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm thrilled to be back on the blog with this new underwater shaker card showcasing the lovely mermaids from Mermaid Kisses. I've featured them two times already, here and here, and since tomorrow is Valentine's day, I thought it would be fun to create Valentine mermaids.

I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers. Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Mermaid Kisses - mermaids, seaweeds, tiny seashell, tiny starfish, small fish • Best Fishes - clown fish • Magical Mermaids - jellyfish, tiny fish, starfish, bubbles • Bighearted Bears - envelopes • Tropical Scenes - corals.

I cut a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel, and created an underwater background using oxide inks. I first applied, from top to bottom, spun sugar and worn lipstick oxide inks. Next I placed a wave pattern stencil on my panel, and applied, from top to bottom, worn lipstick and festive berries oxide inks. I splattered water all over my panel, and dried it using a paper towel. I mixed copic opaque white ink with water and added more splatters using a slim brush, and then did the same with festive berries oxide ink.

Once my panel was dry, I used the Window Trio Heart Landscape die to cut three hearts out of my panel. Next I cut a 5,5 x 4,25 inches pink panel, placed my underwater panel on top, put the three hearts back on their original spots and glued them on the pink panel using liquid glue. I stuck a piece of acetate at the back of the underwater panel, added foam strips all the around the heart windows and on the rest of the panel, poured some iridescent heart confetti and a mix of polymer clay confetti inside each heart window, peeled the backing papers off the foam strips, and attached the pink panel to the foam strips to close my shaker panel.

Next I attached the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, added highlights and details using a white gel pen, and applied white blizzard nuvo drops to the bubbles and hearts on the envelopes to make them sparkle. For my greeting, I stamped "Fintastic" from Fintastic Friends on the middle heart using white stazon ink, I white heat embossed "Life with you is" from Country Carnival on red cardstock, trimmed it into a slim banner, and stuck it right above "Fintastic" using foam squares.

Mermaid Kisses Card with Tina

Hello crafters, it’s Tina and today I am creating an underwater scene with one of the cute mermaids from the Mermaid Kisses stamp and die set.

I started with a white card base and added a layer of white card stock which was cut with the outer die from Frilly Frames Stripes die and embellished with the Dotted Diamonds Portrait die. The card panel consists of a Stitched Arch cut from white paper, divided into three wave parts (Catch A Wave dies) and colored with blue inks from my stash. After cutting another arch, I used this one as my base to attach the wave parts. Then it was time to stamp the sentiment from Mermaid Kisses directly to the top of this panel using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I wanted my mermaid to rest on the sea bottom surrounded by beautiful corals so I stamped the ocean scene from Tropical Scenes and used the matching die to cut it out. To give it the ‘arch shape’ I used the largest Stitched Arch once more. After stamping and die cutting the mermaid and cute fish from Mermaid Kisses, I used my Copics to color all the images including the coral scene in vibrant tones.

Next, I added foam tape to this ocean border and mounted it to the bottom of the waves panel. Thereafter, this panel was adhered to the white diamond background. Finally, I added the fish, mermaid with crown, starfish, and seashells to the scene. I love finishing a card with some embellishments and today I chose the beautiful Iridescent Jewels.
