Love Monkey Valentine's Day Cards with Mendi

Hello there! I hope you had a lovely Christmas. This is Mendi popping in to share some love-themed cards for Valentine's Day featuring our beloved Love Monkey Stamps.

For my first card showcasing the Love Monkey Stamps, I created a 3.5" wide x 7" high mini slimline with a polka-dot background stamped using the Background Basics 2 Stamps. For the stitched mat to frame my scene, I elongated one of the rectangles from the Rounded Rectangle Mat Dies by hanging part of the die off my cutting plate and running it through my die-cutting machine a second time. 

I added two tree branches to the top of my scene with three of the monkeys. Originally, the hanging monkey was designed to hang from a vine, but I altered him and cut off the vine so I could wrap his tail around the tree branch instead. I also added the bouquet of flowers to his hands to cover the envelope, as if he were trying to steal the girl monkey's heart. Along the bottom half of my card, I added the Scalloped Fence Die, a bit of grass using the Mini Grass Border Dies, and two little birds perched on the fence from the Little Birdie Stamps.

For my second card using the Love Monkey Stamps, I created a jungle scene. I started by inking my white cardstock panel with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress ink. I then stamped two of the leaves from the Elegant Leaves Stamps around the outside edges using PinkFresh Studio Grassy Knoll Ink. I layered the vines and tree branch to the top of my card with an image from the Tropical Scenes Stamps, and then tucked the same monkey hanging from a vine to blend with the other vines. This time, I trimmed off the envelope and put a banana in his hands to go with the sentiment I stamped. I added a toucan from the Savanna Safari Stamps and a tree branch from the Love Birds Stamps along the bottom of my card for my girl monkey to sit on with her bananas. Lastly, I added the punny greeting from the Love Monkey Stamps, substituting the words "for you" with the script word die cuts from the Gift Card Pocket Dies.

Elegant Leaves Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some fall cards featuring the Elegant Leaves Stamps.

For my first card showcasing the Elegant Leaves Stamps I started by creating a rainbow blend on watercolor paper by washing my paper in water and then dropping in bits of color using Daniel Smith Watercolors. When it had dried entirely (which you can speed up with a heat gun), I heat embossed the leaf images using Hero Arts Brass Embossing Powder. I proceeded to fussy cut each image right next to the embossing outline to keep things looking bold and clean against my navy blue background. I then rearranged the leaves loosely on my card panel and took turns adhering them with my Zig Glue Pen. 

Lastly, I used that same Brass embossing powder to heat emboss my "Thankful for all you do" sentiment onto coordinating navy cardstock, fussy cutting again around the word "thankful" leaving a small shadow to make it easier to cut out. This navy shadow blends with my background and also helps the word stand out in the places where it overlaps with the leaves beneath to keep it from being illegible. I love how these leaves pop against the navy and how the metallic embossing catches the light! 

For my second card, I created a radically different look with the Elegant Leaves Stamps. I chose a more modern & graphic design with the leaf images, incorporating a pink, grey, black, and white color scheme. I started by embossing a piece of pink cardstock using our Cable Knit Embossing Folder for my card's background. I then stamped the bold leaves and leaf outlines using various Versafine inks (linked below). I arranged my leaves into a garland arrangement, positioned in the bottom center of my card. I then heat embossed the word "Grateful" using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder onto the same pink cardstock. Once again, I fussy cut a slight shadow around the word and paired it with other parts of the greeting, which I heat embossed with White Detail Embossing Powder onto black cardstock.

Autumn Garland & Elegant Leaves Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some fall cards featuring the Autumn Garland Stamps and Elegant Leaves Stamps.

My first card showcases all the images from the Autumn Garland Stamps which I heat embossed using Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder and colored with Copic markers. I arranged all the extra pinecones and fir tree sprigs around my main garland image to form a cresent shape across the bottom of my card, adding the "Autumn Blessings" greeting from the same set.

Both of my cards today were an opportunity for me to play with some of the Distress Embossing Glaze powders I had purchased awhile back. This was my first time experimenting with them. So many of the colors in my stash are earthtones so I thought they would be perfect for playing with today's stamp sets. 

For this card, I started by inking a white cardstock panel with Scattered Straw Distress Ink and then used the Diagonal & Straight Stripes Stencils to apply the striped background by pressing my Versamark pad directly into the surface of my tacked down stencil and paper. It was difficult for me to capture here, but the stripes have a very pretty transparent and glossy appearance when they catch the light.

For my second card, I started by blending an inky background using various Distress Inks before stamping the polka-dot background over the top using the Background Basics 2 Stamps with a taupe colored ink from my stash. I then pulled out the Elegant Leaves Stamps to stamp a border of leaves around the edge of my card using clear VersaMark Ink. I took turns stamping them one at a time so that I could sprinkle on different colors of Distress Embossing glaze and heat set them as I went around the four sides.

I borrowed the brilliant idea to layer the polka-dot background with the stamp leaf images from Jennifer McGuire. By layering the two, it really shows off the translucent quality of these amazing glazes! I completed my card by trimming down the panel and centering it on a white notecard and heat embossing the word "thankful" and "for your kindness" on black cardstock using white embossing powder. I tried so many different combinations and in the end, I love the way the white over black popped against all the other rich colors in my background.
