Roly Poly Penguins Card with Amanda

Hey friends and Happy Tuesday! Amanda here! I hope your week is off to an amazing start! I’m so glad you’re here with me on the Sunny Studio blog today for a little crafty inspiration! The card I’m sharing today is MERRY and BRIGHT—full of festive fun with pink and green pops of color!

To create the frame, I used the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies. On each of the cutouts, I ink-blended some Catherine Pooler inks in Melon Ice, Garden Party, It’s a Girl, and Party Dress. I spritzed the backgrounds with water for a subtle splatter effect, then added some black splatter using watered-down black acrylic paint and a paintbrush.

I placed the frame on a plain white card base and held it in place with magnets on my magnetic craft mat. Using the frame as a guide, I adhered each of the ink-blended rectangles. Next, I added white foam strips to the back of the frame and popped it onto the card front.

My chubby little penguins and their accessories were stamped from the Roly Poly Penguins Stamps. After stamping, I colored them with Copic markers and cut them using the coordinating dies.

With some foam squares added to the back, I arranged the penguins onto the card. For the sentiment, I used the “merry & BRIGHT” stamp from the Build-a-Greetings Holiday Stamps, stamping it in crisp black ink. The finishing touch was a sprinkle of Party Confetti across the card for a little extra festive sparkle!

Harvest Mice Card with Amanda

Hey, hey crafty friends, Amanda here! Are you dreaming of cooler fall weather?! Fall has been on my mind and I can’t stop making Fall cards! Today, I’m sharing this fun card I made for you using the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies frame that was leftover from my card I shared last week.  

To create this card, I gathered an A2 card base and the Critter Country Paper. I choose a piece of paper that looked like a background for my scene. I trimmed the background paper down to 4.25”x5.5” and glued it to my card base. Then, I glued the frame to that, as well.

Next, I stamped out some of the images from the Harvest Mice and Fall Scenes stamps. I stamped extra rakes and leaves from the Fall Scenes stamps so each mouse would have a rake and there’d be plenty of leaves to rake!

I colored the images with Copic markers. Here are the colors I used:

Leaves: YR15, YR21, Y02, Y35, YR04, YR07, E30, E35, E37, E43, E44, E47, R56, R59, E04
Left mouse: W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9, R81, R85
Middle Mouse: E70, E71, E74, E77, E79, R81, R85, B00, B02, B05
Right Mouse: T0, T2, T4, T6, T7, R81, R83, R85

After coloring them, I added some dots and highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen. For my sentiment, I stamped the word “mice” first in Catherine Pooler Mandarin Spice ink. Then, I added the words to either side and stamped them with black ink. I used a paper trimmer to trim the sentiment down into a strip. For the banner edge, I used the tip of my scissors.

Now the fun part! Adding all the images and sentiment to the scene! I used 3D foam squares behind all the images and sentiment and then assembled them onto the card!   

I love how this little scene turned out! The little sweater is just TOO cute on that little mouse!

Fall Friends Card with Amanda

Hey there, Sunny Studio Stamps fans! Welcome to the blog! It’s Amanda here with you today and I’m getting ready for Fall! So I’ve made this super cute Fall card to share with you!

This card features the stamp set called Fall Friends! I love these images so much that I couldn’t decide which ones to put on the card! So, I created a layout that would let me put almost all the images on one card!

I created my background with the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies. I die-cut just the frame from this set with white cardstock. On the inner rectangles, I inked blended some Catherine Pooler inks with a blending brush. I used Cashmere for the top two rectangles and Succulent for the bottom ones. After I was finished blending them, I spritzed them with a spray bottle filled with water. 

On my magnetic craft mat, I laid my A2 card base down. Next, I secured the frame down onto my card base with magnets. This allows me to use the frame as a guide for placing my rectangles perfectly. I added some liquid glue to the backs of my rectangles and placed them onto the card base.

Next, I stamped all my critters and images on a piece of white cardstock with black ink. I colored all the images in with Copic markers, focusing on muted Autumn colors. I added some highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen. Then, I die-cut all the images out with the coordinating die set. I used low-tack tape to keep the dies in place while running them through my die-cutting machine.

I arranged all the images on my card where I think I wanted them to go, starting with the largest images first. As I was making my layout, I grabbed the sentiment from the stamp set and placed the words in the upper right corner, arranging the images around it. I took a photo of the card layout so I wouldn't forget how I liked it!  

Then, I moved all the images to the side, leaving my sentiment in place. I put the card base into my MISTI and stamped my sentiment with black ink. Finally, I placed 3D foam squares behind all the images and adhered them to the card! All finished! Don't you just want to squeeze all those little critters?!

Paris Afternoon Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm super happy to be back with this Bastille Day themed card to celebrate the French National Holiday which happens on the 14th of July each year. Of course I went with the colors of the French flag: blue, white and red, and used the perfect stamp set for the occasion: Paris Afternoon.

I started off by creating the background and used my favorite die from the Ribbon & Lace Borders die set, which is the strip die, to cut multiple strips out of blue, white, and red cardstock. I attached each strip in that order on a piece of scrap paper using liquid glue, and then used a 5,5 x 4,25 inches rectangle die to cut an A2 panel. To give my background more interest, I splattered white ink all over it. I mixed some prize ribbon oxide ink with water and added blue splatters to the strips with a slim brush. I did the same with lumberjack plaid oxide ink to add red splatters, and then I added sparkling droplets using liquid stardust.

Once my striped panel was totally dry, I stuck it to a white card base, cut a Comic Strip Everyday Dies frame panel out of light blue cardstock and attached that panel to my card using 1mm foam squares.

I stamped the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, cut them all using the matching dies and colored everything using a blue, white and red color palette for the parasol, balloons and macarons, but also green for the trees at the feet of the Eiffel tower and neutrals for the critters. Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Paris Afternoon - table & parasol, chairs, Eiffel tower, street lamps, bottle of wine, glasses of wine, cheese, baguette, croissant, macarons, berets • Critters On The Go - bear, bunny, fox, scooter, small trees • Charming City - larger trees • Plane Awesome - clouds • Party Pets - balloons.

I added highlights and details to my images using a white gel pen, stamped "Bonjour" from Paris Afternoon in black directly on the strips, and finally attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. 

And voilà! The card is all done and I had so much fun creating it with the French colors! I hope that you like it! Thanks so much for stopping, and see you next week.

Grad Cat Card with Amanda

Hey everyone, it's Amanda here. It’s that time of year! Have you made all your cards for your grads of 2025?! I’ve got mine ready! Feel free to steal this idea for your own cards!

First, die cut the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles frame with white cardstock. Keep all of the rectangle cutouts for stamping on. Glue the frame to an A2 card base (4.25”x5.5”).

Take the square from the bottom right corner and stamp the little kitty from the Grad Cat Stamps with your stamping platform. Keep the cat in place and don’t clean the stamp yet! Place a piece of masking tape (like Heffy Memo Tape or a sticky note) over the stamped cat. Using the leftover ink that’s still on your cat, stamp the image onto your masking tape. Using scissors, fussy cut the outline of your cat. Place the mask over the stamped image of the cat. Then, ink up the book and stamp the image so it looks like the cat is sitting on the book.

Use the same process to stamp the other 2 rectangles with the dogs from the Puppy Dog Kisses Stamps and the books from the Grad Cat Stamps. You’ll need to make several masks for the books! Keep the masks you used from your first rectangle to use on the other rectangle!

Place your card base (that has the frame glued to it) in your stamping platform and stamp the sentiments directly onto it. I used a combination of sentiments from both stamp sets!

Remove all your masks from your square and rectangles and get ready to color! I used Copic markers, but you could use any coloring medium you prefer! After I finish coloring my stamped images, I always add some white highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen.

Once they’re all colored in, apply some foam tape to the backs of the square and rectangles and adhere them to your card front. Finally, add some gems! I’ve used one gem each from the Gold Jewels, Bright Jewels, and Pastel Jewels.

Super Duper Card with Tina

Hello crafters, it’s Tina and today I am sharing a Birthday card with the fun Super Duper stamp and die set! Such amazing characters and the sentiments in this set are so versatile!

After creating a card base, I cut a white panel with the outer die from Frilly Frames Chevron. To add extra interest, I dry embossed this panel with the Sunburst folder. This is one of my favorite techniques for including quick and easy details to a project.

The next level of this card was made from a red polka dot paper (Polka-dot Parade) cut with the second largest die from the Rounded Rectangle Mat set. I knew I was going for a red Superman suit and this paper was a perfect match. My hero had to make a spectacular entry so I needed to create the space with one of the Stitched Semi Circle dies. Next, I glued this red piece to the white panel and attached the whole to the card base.

I selected my character and a few stars from the Super Duper stamp set and colored everything with my Copic markers.

The add extra ‘drama’ to my sentiment I used the starburst shape from the Comic Strip Speech Bubbles and stamped the ‘Hope your day’ part (Super Duper stamp) with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Next, I used the largest rectangle speech bubble (Comic Strip Speech Bubbles), cut of the little tail and stamped the second part of the message (with red ink from my stash).

To complete the design, I placed the images inside the frame and added the two speech bubbles. As a final embellishment, some Silver Jewels were glued on each side of the sentiment.
