Roly Poly Penguins Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today sharing a fun Christmas card featuring these adorable Roly Poly Penguins who are using the Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamp set to wish you a Holly Jolly Christmas.

For the layout, I diecut a piece of white cardstock using the outer die of the Frilly Frames Polka Dot Dies. Next, I took a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and lightly ink blended it with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink. I trimmed the pink panel down to fit inside white scalloped panel. 

I stamped the images from the Roly Poly Penguins Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Roly Poly Penguins Dies to diecut them out. I also used the Basic Mini Shape Dies and Basic Mini Shape Dies 3 to diecut some holly leaves and berries out of white and red cardstock. I colored the elements with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

For the sentiment, I diecut a banner out of red cardstock using the Brilliant Banner 3 Dies.  The Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamp set from the latest release was used to create a sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Watermark ink onto the red banner and heat embossed with Detail White Embossing Powder.

I adhered the sentiment banner and all of the colored images onto the inked panel with foam tape. I added some snowflakes diecut from white cardstock using the Basic Mini Shape Dies 2 and the Basic Mini Shape Dies 5. Finally, I adhered the entire panel onto the front of a top folding white card base (4.25" x 5.5").

Holiday Hugs & Woolen Mitten Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today with a fun mitten shaped card featuring these absolutely adorable bear from the Holiday Hugs set as well as a custom made sentiment using the new Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamp set. 

I stamped the bear and mug from the Holiday Hugs Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Holiday Hugs Dies to die-cut them out. I made sure to use the special die that allows you to diecut the arms on the bear to allow her to hold the mug. I colored the images with Copic markers and highlighted them with a white gel pen.

Merry Everything and Happy Always! I love this fun sentiment, but it is hard to find a premade clear stamp for it. I used the recently released Build-a-Greeting Holidays Stamp set for this task. This fun stamp set has oodles of holiday-themed words and is just perfect for creating custom sentiments. I aligned the words that I needed and stamped onto a piece of white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a paper trimmer to trim it out. 

Next, I used the Woolen Mitten Dies to die-cut the mitten once out of pink and twice out of white cardstock. I also diecut the cuff out of pink cardstock. The pink mitten was placed into the Cable Knit 6 x 6 Embossing Folder and run through the die-cutting machine. This created a beautiful, deep-knit impression on the mitten. I adhered the pink to one of the white mittens. Foam tape was used to adhere the cuff to the pink mitten.

In order to create a hinge for the card, I used a score board to score a line along the top 0.5" of the second white mitten. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Inside Greetings Seasons Stamp set onto this white mitten with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a strong double-sided tape to adhere the two white mittens to each other along the previously scored 0.5" space along the top of the mitten.

The colored images and the sentiment were adhered to the card front with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. I finished the card with a few white snowflakes die-cut using the Basic Mini Shape 2 and Basic Mini Shape 5 Dies.

Snowman Kisses Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today with a winter-themed box card featuring these absolutely adorable snowmen from the Snowman Kisses set. Do you like boxcards? Have you ever made a boxcard? I absolutely LOVE boxcards! Today, I'm going to show you how to make one without any special boxcard dies. So, let's get started.

I stamped the snowmen from the Snowman Kisses Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Snowman Kisses Dies to die cut them out. I colored the images with Copic markers and highlighted them with a white gel pen.

To create the boxcard, I used the largest die from the Stitched Arch Dies to die cut the back panel out of light blue cardstock. I used the second largest arch die from the same die set to die cut a piece of pattern paper from the All is Bright Paper pack. I adhered the two arches together.

For the base of the boxcard, I used a paper trimmer to create a 1.25" x 9.5" strip out of the same light blue cardstock. I used a score board to score the light blue strip at the 0.5", 2", 5" and 6.5" marks. I folded on the score lines and used liquid glue to close and secure the box with the 0.5" end tab. I adhered the arch back panel to the base of the boxcard.

For the shelves of the boxcard, I took two strips of white cardstock (4" x 2") and used the Slimline Nature Borders Dies to die cut the top edge of the slopes. I used a score board to score at the 0.5" marks on each side of the shelves to create end tabs. Scissors were used to trim away the top portion of the end tabs, leaving only the bottom 1" to adhere to the sides of the box. I adhered the shelves to the boxcard.

For the sentiment, the banner die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies was used to die cut a piece of white cardstock. I stamped the super sweet "warm wishes & snowman kisses" sentiment from the Snowman Kisses Stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the banner. I adhered the banner to the front of the boxcard. 

I decorated the boxcard with the snowmen as well as some snowflakes die cut out of white cardstock using the dies from the Woolen Mitten Dies and Basic Mini Shapes Dies 2 sets. HINT: For the floating appearance, I like to use little clear acetate strips to secure objects like the snowflakes to the boxcard.

My boxcard measures 3" W x 4.25" H and flattens to 4.5" W x 4.25" H. The flattened boxcard fits nicely in a standard A2 sized envelope (for 4.25" x 5.5" cards) for mailing.

Rounded Rectangle Window Die Focused Card with Leanne

Hello everyone! Leanne here! Today I'm sharing a birthday themed shaker card. The Rounded Rectangle Window dies make it super easy to create a frame with faux stitching which can be used for shaker cards. 

I used the second largest Rounded Rectangle Window die in the set to create a frame for my shaker window. I constructed the shaker element in the traditional way by adding a panel of clear acetate behind the window. Then I added some skinny strips of foam tape behind all sides of the frame to create the shaker well.

Onto a white A2 size card base, I stamped the words "happy birthday" at an angle towards the left side. I used pastel clay sprinkles as the shaker bits and carefully placed them onto the center of the card. I then adhered the frame with acetate overtop. 

Next was the fun part of adding all the decorations to the outside of the shaker. I used cupcakes from the Scrumptious Cupcakes stamp set. I die cut some little flowers and leaves to embellish even further. These dies can be found in the Basic Mini Shapes 2 and Basic Mini Shapes 4 sets. 

Here are the Pink Fresh Studio ink colors I used to stamp the cupcakes and candle: Ocean Breeze, Aquamarine, Mermaid Cove, Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Lemon Whip, Sunshine.

Designer's Choice: Roly Poly Penguins Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today with another inspiration to share with you for the most adorable Roly Poly Penguin set. I just can't get enough of these cuties! 

I have a question ... how do you feel about that white border between the stamped image and where the dies cut? Some people prefer fussy cutting right up to the stamped line. Others prefer having that white border. Today, I decided to do something a little different and to use that white border to my advantage. I colored in that white border to represent the cookie part of my penguin-shaped frosted cookies!

I stamped the images from the Roly Poly Penguin stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Roly Poly Penguins Dies to die cut them out. I also created some snowflake cookies by using the Nested Circle Infinity Dies to die cut three 1.5" circles. I colored them with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

For the snowflake cookies, I added some snowflakes die cut from white cardstock using the Woolen Mitten Dies set with liquid adhesive. I finished the cookie by adding silver gems onto the snowflakes for a bit of shine.

For the cookie box, I took a piece of pink cardstock and ran it through the die cut machine with the Dotted Diamond Portrait Die for some texture. I cut out a window in the center with the second largest die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I adhered a piece of clear acetate to the backside. I took a piece of white cardstock (4.25" x 5.5") and used the pink window panel as a guide to adhere the cookies to it. I adhered the penguins with some foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. Once the cookies were where I wanted, I adhered the pink window panel with foam tape.

For the cookie box decorations, I created two small tags using one of the dies from the Sweet Treat Bag Dies. One die cut out of white cardstock and the other using a patterned paper from the Joyful Holiday Paper Pack. I stamped a sentiment using parts from the Penguin Party Stamps and Holiday Hugs Stamps with Versafine Satin Red ink. I tied a red ribbon onto the box and adhered the tags and some snowflakes die cut from white cardstock using the Basic Mini Shape Dies 2 and Woolen Mitten Dies sets with liquid adhesive. Finally, I adhered the cookie box to a white card base (4.25" x 5.5").
