A Cut Above ATC Cards with Janneke

Hello crafty friends, Janneke here. Today I’m sharing these cute ATC’s.

I started by die-cutting four ATC bases from brown cardstock and adding alternating red and blue frames. To create some extra texture, I used the Diagonal Stripes Stencil with brown ink on the bottom brown layer.

On the top brown panel, I stamped a subtle plaid pattern along the top edge using the plaid stamp from the A Cut Above stamp set with brown ink. To give the background a playful look, I finished it off with some white gouache splatters.

Next, I stamped the office supplies from the A Cut Above stamp set. I created two red and two blue versions of both the pushpin and the pencil. These are layered stamps, making it easy to add beautiful depth and dimension to the images.

Of course, someone had to hold those giant pencils. For that, I stamped two cute foxes from the Foxy Friend stamp set and two playful kittens from the Cat Antics and Party Pets stamp sets.

For the little notes, I stamped the paper image four times from the Vintage Valentine stamp set. I then added the sentiments using stamps also from the Vintage Valentine and Foxy Friend stamp sets.

After coloring all of the stamped images with my Ohuhu Markers, I adhered everything to the ATCs, layering the elements for a fun and playful composition. As a finishing touch, I added a few clear drops to give the cards a little extra shine and dimension.

A Cut Above Card with Tina

Hi crafty friends, Tina here with a cute ‘school themed’ card using the fun A Cut Above layering stamp and die set.

As usual, I started with a white card base but this time I added extra texture to the front part by dry embossing with the Dapper Diamonds folder. Next, I cut a panel from an adorable ‘heart’ paper (Subtle Grey Tones) with the largest of the Scalloped Oval Mat 1 dies. I knew I wanted to use bright colors for my pencils and this neutral paper is the perfect background.

After selecting several ink pads from my stash, I started the layering stamping for the fun pencil. A great tip here is to use the black pictures on your packaging to position the stamps. You get a much better view of how to add the next layer. With so much colors on this card, I selected three cute panda bears (Panda Party) and colored them with my Copic markers.

My combined sentiment was taken from the Balloon Rides set and I masked of a part of the saying with post-it tape so it reads ‘Just a note’ now (Versafine Onyx Black ink).

To assemble the card, I glued the oval panel to the embossed card base with liquid glue. Then I added one pencil vertical, so I had a place for the bears to sit and stand. The other four pencils were added with foam tape following rainbow order. My little sentiment banner was centered on top of these pencils. Then I concluded that the card was cute, but it was missing ‘something’!

I browsed through my dies and found a small streamer die (Crepe Paper Streamer dies) which was the perfect filler. I die cut several pieces and cut them to size before gluing them on the grey oval. I added a few White Diamond jewels as a final embellishment.

Color My World & A Cut Above Teacher Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some more School-Themed cards showcasing our Color My World Stamps, A Cut Above Stamps, and Teacher Appreciation Stamps.

For my first card of the day, I started by die-cutting white cardstock using our Notebook Tabs Dies and then added the rows of lines to my paper using the stamp from our A Cut Above Stamps. This gave me an easy surface to align the sentiments from our Teacher Appreciation Stamps, which I stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. I made a point to stamp it on the left-hand side so I would have room to add a focal point pair of scissors from our A Cut Above Stamps to layer over the top on the right. I then began the work of randomly layering other pairs of scissors on my black background in a rainbow of colors. I was careful to not let a single piece go to waste, so when a pair bled off the edge of my card front, I saved that trimmed portion to squeeze in another black space. When all was said and done, I believe I created this card with a total of 6 stamped pairs of scissors.

It was challenging to capture the fabulous texture in my background when taking a photo of my card straight on, so here's a closer look at it from an angle. I adore how the Background Basics 2 Stamps add subtle texture and interest without being busy or overwhelming to my design. I stamped the background using clear VersaMark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder to provide a bit of tone-on-tone glossy shine.

Next up is another fun rainbow teacher card featuring the colored pencils from our Color My World Stamps. For this card, I started by die-cutting my stitched panel from white cardstock using our Rounded Rectangle Mat Dies. I then stamped my sentiment from our Teacher Appreciation Stamps using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. This gave me a focal point to arrange my pencils around. Once again, I tried to not let a single piece of my stamped images go to waste by using the portion cut off on the opposite side. By arranging them outside of rainbow order, it felt more random, and it was easier to hide the fact that I was using fewer pencils than it appeared.

I am frequently asked which ink colors I used for my layered images.  While I think there are so many great options out there, these are the colors I used today for my stamped images from light to dark:
