Snowman Kisses Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today with a winter-themed box card featuring these absolutely adorable snowmen from the Snowman Kisses set. Do you like boxcards? Have you ever made a boxcard? I absolutely LOVE boxcards! Today, I'm going to show you how to make one without any special boxcard dies. So, let's get started.

I stamped the snowmen from the Snowman Kisses Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Snowman Kisses Dies to die cut them out. I colored the images with Copic markers and highlighted them with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:
Snowmen: B0000/000, Y38 YR04, R20
Red: R05/24/29/39
Green: YG05/07 G05/09
White: C1/3
Shadow: C1

To create the boxcard, I used the largest die from the Stitched Arch Dies to die cut the back panel out of light blue cardstock. I used the second largest arch die from the same die set to die cut a piece of pattern paper from the All is Bright Paper pack. I adhered the two arches together.

For the base of the boxcard, I used a paper trimmer to create a 1.25" x 9.5" strip out of the same light blue cardstock. I used a score board to score the light blue strip at the 0.5", 2", 5" and 6.5" marks. I folded on the score lines and used liquid glue to close and secure the box with the 0.5" end tab. I adhered the arch back panel to the base of the boxcard.

For the shelves of the boxcard, I took two strips of white cardstock (4" x 2") and used the Slimline Nature Borders Dies to die cut the top edge of the slopes. I used a score board to score at the 0.5" marks on each side of the shelves to create end tabs. Scissors were used to trim away the top portion of the end tabs, leaving only the bottom 1" to adhere to the sides of the box. I adhered the shelves to the boxcard.

For the sentiment, the banner die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies was used to die cut a piece of white cardstock. I stamped the super sweet "warm wishes & snowman kisses" sentiment from the Snowman Kisses Stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the banner. I adhered the banner to the front of the boxcard. 

I decorated the boxcard with the snowmen as well as some snowflakes die cut out of white cardstock using the dies from the Woolen Mitten Dies and Basic Mini Shapes Dies 2 sets. HINT: For the floating appearance, I like to use little clear acetate strips to secure objects like the snowflakes to the boxcard.

My boxcard measures 3" W x 4.25" H and flattens to 4.5" W x 4.25" H. The flattened boxcard fits nicely in a standard A2 sized envelope (for 4.25" x 5.5" cards) for mailing.

Designer's Choice: Snowman Kisses Card with Nicky

Hi! This is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog and I hope everyone has been enjoying their holidays these past few days. I'm sharing a card I made and sent to a family member in the UK where we say Happy Christmas (Xmas) almost more than we say Merry Christmas, hence the sentiment. Read on for all the details.

Inspired by peppermint and candy canes I selected to use pinks, white and reds for this project. I took a panel of pink cardstock and I die cut it using the Dotted Diamond Portrait Die. I backed this panel with white craft foam and applied it to an A2 white panel and then to my card base.

I used the Slimline Nature Borders Die to create some snow to ground the snowmen and glued it in place.

I stamped the snowmen from Snowman Kisses and coloured with the following Copic marker combinations:

Snowmen - C3, C1, C0
Red - R59, R39, R29
Pink Cheeks - RV63, RV52, RV00
Black - T9, T6, T5, T4
Brown - E49, E77, E44, E43
Green - YG45

I used a white gel pen to add designs to the scarf and highlight certain points to make them pop and then I die cut the images using the coordinating Snowman Kisses Die. Each image was backed with foam tape and applied to the background.

For the bold sentiment I used the Chloe Alphabet Die. I die cut the required letters once from red cardstock and twice from sturdy white cardstock and glued the letters in stacks with the red top layer slightly offset to the right so the white underneath acts as a highlight. I used some of the red Copic markers listed above to add shading to the lettering so that it had a more 3D appearance and then I glued the letters in place.

The finishing touch was to add some playful snowflake embellishments throughout the scene and I highlighted the sentiment and then this card was ready to send!

Buffalo Plaid Die Focused Card with Nicky

Well hello again, this is Nicky with you once more on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog and I've a new Winter/Christmas card to share with you featuring the Buffalo Plaid Diagonal Dies.

I started this card by creating all of the mats which create a sense of drama and guides the eye into the main focal point. I used the Stitched Rectangle Die to create the white mat over which I added a white glitter panel then a red panel that I just cut using my paper trimmer.  

Next I used the Buffalo Plaid Diagonal Die to die cut a white panel of cardstock and I used the diagonal stencil from the Diagonal & Straight Stripes Stencils set to ink blend using Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide Ink in one direction and then Festive Berries in the other. I used a smaller Stitched Rectangle Die from the set to die cut that panel down to size and glued it to the other mats which were in turn adhered to an A2 card base.

I used the Scalloped Oval Mat 3 Die to create the focal panel. I used a little bit of Festive Berries ink left on my brush to make a warm touch of ink blending to go behind the snowman.  I backed this panel with dimensional tape and applied it to the background.

I stamped one of the snowmen from Snowman Kisses using black ink and coloured it with Copic markers. Snowman - C3, C1, RV10, RV0000.  Red - R59, R29, R27. Grey - W9, W6, W3.  Nose - YR09, YR04.  Blush - R22, R21, R20, R00.  The image was die cut using the coordinating dies and added with foam tape.

I added a few snowflakes with glue and dotted in some snow with a stylus and white acrylic paint and floated a little red heart above the snowman. I added tiny jewels to the centre of each snowflake and stamped the sentiment on a sentiment strip and applied with foam tape. Last but not least, I grabbed my trusty white gel pen and highlighted points on the cute snowman images and polka dotted his scarf and with that this card was finished.
