Passionate Penguins Spring Cards with Mendi

Hello there! I hope you had a lovely Christmas. This is Mendi popping in to share some spring-themed cards featuring our beloved Passionate Penguins Stamps.

Sunny Studio Cards using Passionate Penguins & Spring Scenes Clear Stamps, Slimline Nature Border & Scalloped Frame Craft Die

My first card showcasing the Passionate Penguins Stamps uses the cute image of the penguins in the car, which I paired with the mountains, trees, and flowers from the Spring Scenes Stamps for their scenic drive. I cut three hills for them using the Slimline Nature Border Dies and then fussy cut the street using just black cardstock with my scissors. I had planned to add the white dotted line; however, when I realized my car would be taking over the entire road, I decided to make it a one-lane street. I borrowed the sentiment from the Cruising Critters Stamps, which I heat-embossed in white to pop against the black pavement. Lastly, I added three small die-cut clouds from the Comic Strip Everyday Dies to the sky.

For my second card using the Passionate Penguins Stamps, I colored the three sets of penguin couples in monochromatic pinks. I mounted them onto three overlapping Stitched Heart 2 Dies inked with Salvaged Patina Distress ink. For my background, I blended Picked Raspberry and a hint of Seedless Preserves Distress inks (to more closely match my copic coloring using RV55, RV63, and RV52). I then die-cut the background using a shortened version of the Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies and stamped it with a heart print using stamps from the Passionate Penguins set. For my greeting, I combined words from the Passionate Penguins Stamps and the Savanna Safari Stamps, which I heat-embossed onto a Brilliant Banner 3 Die inked with Salvaged Patina ink. As a finishing touch, I added polka dots to the umbrella using a white gel pen. My finished card measures 7-1/2" wide x 3-3/4" high.

Sledding By & Cruising Critters Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some cards featuring our Sledding By Stamps and Cruising Critters Stamps. Both of these sets feature a pile of critters in a mode of transportation, so I thought it would be fun to share both a fall and holiday take as we transition between the seasons.

Sunny Studio Fall & Holiday Christmas Cards using Cruising Critters, Sledding By, & Country Scenes Clear Craft Stamps & Dies

For my first card today, I focused on the adorable critters piled in the sled from our Sledding Critters Stamps. I googled vintage horse-pulled sleighs and noticed a number of them were painted black with red velvet-lined seats so as I started coloring, I found myself limiting my colors to neutrals with touches of Red, White, Blue, and a bit of a rosy pink (which is actually just a lighter version of the red tones). For the background of my card, I inked up a white cardstock panel using a light touch of Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink with the PinkFresh Studio Blending Brushes

I then stamped the snowflakes around the perimeter of my card using the Snow Flurries Stamps. These mini 2x3 background stamps were designed to line up and stamp multiple times in a grid pattern across a card background to create a seamless background of any size for a great price. However, they also have the added flexibility of stamping around the edges like a frame to keep the center of the card open without having to creatively mask things off for the sentiment like I did here. I added the snowy hillside using the Slimline Nature Border Dies cut from white cardstock and then added my greeting using the stamps from the set and the coordinating "sledding" word from the Sledding By Dies. Lastly, I felt like my card needed a little something to visually balance out the right side of the card, given the angled tilt of my sleigh and sentiment, so I added a red snowflake to my sleigh from the Snowflake Circle Frame Dies.

For my second card showcasing a carload of animals using the Cruising Critters Stamps, I created a fall backdrop for the scenic drive, using the tree-lined border from the Country Scenes Stamps and the cobblestone street from the Sprawling Surfaces Stamps. I love that these trees can be colored pink for spring, green for summer, or in fall hues for autumn! I then added some simple cloud outlines to my skyline using the clouds from the Ocean View Stamps. Lastly, I heat-embossed a greeting from the Cruising Critters Stamps and paired it with the die-cut word "cruising" from the Cruising Critters Dies.

Sprawling Surfaces Card with Nicky

Happy Friday everyone this is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studio blog and I have a card featuring the Sprawling Surfaces Stamp set to share with you. This is such a handy stamp set for scene building or just grounding other stamp images.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sprawling Surfaces Card by Nicky Meek (featuring Fluffy Cloud Border Dies, Cruising Critters, Stitched Rectangle Dies)

I took an A2 panel of white cardstock. I stamped the brick pattern from the Sprawling Surfaces Stamp set and then ink blended the sky. I die cut the panel using the Stitched Rectangle Die and backed the centre portion with white craft foam. The outer cut was adhered to an A2 panel and then I nestled the inside cut in the centre with glue.

I used the Fluffy Clouds Border Die to create some interest and sized it by again using the Stitched Rectangle Die and I applied with foam tape.

Using Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa I stamped the Cruising Critters image and coloured with the following Copic marker combinations:

Car Trim - C3, C1, C00
Tires - T6, T4, T3
Hearts - RV17, RV06, RV02
Raccoon - T6, T4, T3
Bunny - E31, E41
Hedgehog - E44, E42, E31, E41
Kitten - YR24, YR31, YR20
Chick - YR00, YR31, YR21
Black Bear - T6, T4, T2, E31

Dog (right) - E44, E42
Blushes - R22, R20, R00

I die cut the image using the Cruising Critters Dies and added it to the background with foam tape then fussy cut and glued on the hearts. Points were highlighted with a white gel pen including adding 'prickles' to the hedgehog and the sentiments stamped on strips and applied with foam tape.

Many thanks for coming by to read the blog today, I'll be back next Friday with something new. Happy crafting!

Wonderful Windows Die Focused Cards with Marie and Catherine

Hello Crafty Friends, Marie here! Thank Heavens, it's officially Spring! Out with the cold and in with the warmth! Spring brings about renewal, and rebirth within nature as well as within ourselves. Spring can also be a reminder to revive or nurture past friendships. In my case, Spring couldn't have come at a better time as I reconnect with a dear friend from my high school days! My card creation today is a friendship card I created for my friend to show her my gratitude for finally reconnecting after so many years. This card features the Wonderful Windows Dies from Sunny Studio Stamps' Spring 2023 collection. It sure is wonderful as it's one of my favorite dies from this release! I also paired this window scene with tiny, adorable bees from their Garden Critters Stamps.

The first step to create this friendship card was to cut out two A2 sized card panels from Bristol Smooth Cardstock paper. This paper is super smooth and perfect for ink blending. Then taking the background panel, I used a brick stencil, and ink blended a light lavender color using Milled Lavender Distress Oxide Ink. To darken the edges, I went in with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. For the bottom portion of the card, I inked it with some Mowed Lawn Distress ink and splattered some water droplets to create some texture.

For all my die cuts except the flowers, I used Bristol smooth cardstock because it takes Copic markers very well. Starting with my window frame, I colored it using copic markers in cool grey tones. I used the colors Cool Gray No.3 (C-3) , and Cool Gray No 1. (C-1). For the window curtains I used some beautiful yellow pattern paper from the Spring Fever Paper. For the inside window portion and the top triangle window pieces, I used Vintage Paper Distress Oxide to mimic the warmth of a softly lit room. I used some gold metallic paper for the curtain holders. And for the flower box, I used Copic Markers in the colors Chamois ( E35) and Sepia (E37) and to make it a terracotta color, I layered over top Rose Blush (PP4) from Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. All the dainty and adorable mini flower blooms were cut from various colors of red, and shades of pink cardstock. For all the tiny leaves, I used Yellow Green Copic marker in (YG03) and did some Mowed Lawn distress ink for shading on the base. For the cute fence, I used Sunny's Scalloped Fence Dies and colored it using Mauve Shadow (BV00) and Cool Grey No. (C-1) Copic Markers. I positioned all my die cut elements and adhered them to my card front panel with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.

Next, I stamped out all the bee images onto watercolor paper.  I used Faber-Castell watercolor pencils to color all the images. I cut out the bees using their corresponding die from the Garden Critters Dies. I adhered the bees using repositionable double sided tape adhesive. For some detailing, I used a white Gelly Roll pen to create some flying bee trails.

Moving on to the inside of my card, I did the same brick stenciling and ink blending as I did on the front to create continuity. I stamped out my Sentiment from the Garden Critters Stamp onto 110 lb. cardstock, and used some banner dies to cut them out. I also inked around the edges for some added interest with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide. Finally, I used some bee images on the inside, and voila all finished and ready to personalize!

That's it for this week's spring time friendship card inspiration! Thank you so much for joining me today!  Until next time, Happy Cardmaking!

------------------------------------------

Hello Crafty Friends! Catherine here, and today I am sharing a card created with the Wonderful Windows Dies. This die set is so versatile, it comes with an arched radius frame, outer rectangular frame, curtains, flower box, and shutters which you can add to your design.  For my card, I used the arched radius frame, shutters, and flower box.

For the background, I die cut A2 white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die.  I ink blended the background with Spun Sugar, Dried Marigold, Shaded Lilac, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides. I lightly splattered Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide mixed with water for added interest and set the background aside to dry.

Next, I die cut the outer rectangular frame, shutters, flower bed, flowers, hinges, and arched frame out of white cardstock. I ink blended the shutter panels and flowers with the same color combination as the background. I added a few leaves ink blended with Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide. I ink blended the flower bed and hinges with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide.

For the “gang,” I stamped the critters from Cruising Critters Stamps onto white cardstock. To fit as many of the critters into the frame as possible, I masked off the bunny with a post it note. I fussy cut the gang and colored the critters with Copic Markers listed in my blog link below. For the window background, I ink blended a piece of white cardstock trimmed to the same size as the arched frame and ink blended with the same color combination. I adhered the gang onto the window background and then onto the card background along with the remaining window pieces.

I added the flower bed along with some flowers. For the bottom of the card, I added a white fence and grass ink blended with Shabby Shutters and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide using the Picket Fence Border Die.

I finished off the card with sentiments from Holiday Express Stamps stamped onto white banners. I added some clear enamel dots for added details.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Please feel free to visit me at Crafti-Cat and have a wonderful week!
