Hi! This is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studios blog and I'm sharing a somewhat CAS Tropical Birds birthday card with you today. Please read on for the details.
I've used the following products to make this card:-
Tropical Birds
Tropical Birds Dies
Tree Branch Die
Fancy Frames Rectangle Dies
To start things off I took an A2 panel of white cardstock and knowing that I wanted my focal point to be offset to the left hand side I started my ink blending there. I used Saltwater Taffy and then intensified the blend on the left side with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks. I splattered with water and blotted it up and then dotted in interest with Copic markers and a white gel pen.
I die cut the tree branch die for the bough only. I coloured it with Copic markers in E44, E43 and E42. I backed it with a thin strip of craft foam and adhered it to the blended background.
Next, I stamped the images I was needing from Tropical Birds. I chose the two little parrots and I coloured them as Peach Faced Lovebirds but when it comes to parrots there are of course a huge array of fun ways to colour them. Here are the Copic colours used:
Lovebirds - R05, R22, R21, YG03, YG01, YG00,
E42, E41
Greenery - YG03, YG01
I backed these images with foam tape and applied them to the scene. To finish things up, I die cut more sturdy white cardstock using the Fancy Frames Rectangle Dies. I backed this frame with dimensional foam tape and applied it to the background then I popped the panel in my Misti and repeat stamped the birthday sentiment for a nice crisp appearance and to complete the whole project I used Nuvo Dream Drops in 'Cloud 9' for sweet accents.
I look forward to sharing a new card with you next Friday, meanwhile I wish you a beautiful weekend!
