Hello and welcome to day 4 of our Spring Peek Week! All this week I have been sharing cards showcasing our newest collection which will be available for purchase starting tomorrow morning.
Card No. 1: Today I am showcasing our new Panda Party Stamps which come with eleven adorable panda bears, party accessories and a number of punny greetings. For my first card I have a birthday card, using patterned papers from our Surprise Party Paper pack which I trimmed down using our Stitched Rectangle Dies. This stamp set comes with a little banner which I colored two of to hide the seam and round out the curve between my two different patterned papers. For my birthday sentiment, I turned to our new Big Bold Greetings Stamps and Dies, stamping them in a contrasting blue to match the rainbow striped paper. As a final touch, I added polka-dots to my party hats and highlights to my banners with a white Sharpie paint pen.
Card No. 2: Up next is a Valentine's Day card featuring the
Panda Party Stamps which I paired with the chairs from our
Cozy Christmas Stamps and one of the arched inserts and curtains from our new
Wonderful Windows Dies. To carry out my Valentine's Day theme, I added a grouping of heart balloons using our
Heart Bouquet Stamps, colored my party banner in red and pink to match and then added a trio of hearts from our
Basic Mini Shape 2 Dies to balance to right side of my card. I once again added polka-dots to my banners and armchairs using my favorite Sharpie fine tip paint pen.
As a side note, the Distress black woodgrain cardstock which I used for my living room floor is by Tim Holtz. It was a seasonal Ranger Halloween 2022 product, but as of this posting it can still be found on Amazon and a few other paper craft stores.
Card No. 3: For my next card I created an interactive pop-up box card utilizing our
Stitched Arch Dies for the back panel and our
Slimline Nature Border Dies for the grassy edge for my interior tiers within the card base. This card measures 3" wide x 4.25" high and folds flat to fit into an A2 sized envelope. Aside from the stitched arch dies, I didn't use any special interactive dies and only relied on my scoring board tool and bone folder. My bottom base portion is 1-3/4" deep and I was able to mimic the sloped angled edge on either side by cutting through two layers of stacked cardstock at the same time in a triangle shape with tabs that fold onto the back arched panel. I then hid those tabs by cutting a second arch to adhere to the back of my card where I can write my personal message to the recipient.
Side view: Before assembling the box, I stamped the clouds from our
Baby Elephants Stamps on the arched panel using Tumbled Glass Distress ink with my Misti tool and then stamped my "make a wish" phrase with
VersaFine Onyx Black Ink using our new
Big Bold Greetings Stamps. The remaining elements including the bears, cupcakes, party hats and banners all came from our new
Panda Party Stamps and are the real stars of the show!
Card No. 4 Outside: My next card was completely inspired by a Japanese Christmas card we received from my Mother-in-law that featured a kitty cat peeking out of a Christmas window and had a pop-up feature where the cat moved inside the indoor scene when you opened the card. As soon as I saw it I knew I could re-imagine the idea to work with our new
Wonderful Windows Dies and
Panda Party Stamps! I used the single arched window die from the new die set to cut an opening in the front of my card base and sandwiched a piece of acetate on the front of my card and under the larger exterior window frame so that the arched detail portion would have something to adhere to without just falling through the opening. I then cut a second arched portion to adhere on the inside of my card so the acetate opening would be beautiful on both sides. For my yellow house "siding" I utilized a yellow striped paper from our
Sleek Stripes Paper pack and added the sunshine, watering can and flower boxes from our new
Garden Critters Stamps.
Card No. 4 Inside: For the inside of my card I started by cutting the blue quilted heart paper from our
Flirty Flowers Paper pack. It's helpful to actually position this before adding the acetate to the front of the card so you can trace where to position the arched window die. To hide any portions that might have been slightly off during the die-cutting process I then used the exterior window frame molding around the interior portion as well. For my flooring, I used a print from our
Subtle Grey Tones Paper pack. I then decorated my room with the couch, chair and gifts from our
Cozy Christmas Stamps, two balloon bouquets from our
Floating By Stamps, and the banner from the
Panda Party Stamps.
For the pop-up feature I created a loop / folded rectangle using a strip of leftover paper I had cut off from my 6x6 paper.I stacked three of the pandas so the top two would be tall enough to have the height needed to peek out my window. I wanted them to be strong enough to not fall apart with the little big of glue pen I could use between them so I chose to adhere a white cardstock strip to the back of them to make them more sturdy. I then adhered them to the outer edge of my loop so that they would move to peek through the window when my card is closed. I then added a strong adhesive to the back two corners of my loop, folded it flat and closed my card base onto it so that it would be lined up properly and have the ability to easily open and close before pressing down firmly. I really love the way this card came together and it was so much fun to create!
Card No. 5: This next card shares a sneak peek of our newest free mini die for the Spring 2023 release (with a purchase in our online store). It features two little stacked paw prints which come connected to each other. They were intended to punch out the pieces for little paw prints to reassemble onto your projects, but I decided I would do a small labor of love and run it through my die-cutting machine over and over again to create a full background using the negative space of the die for this fun anniversary card featuring our
Panda Party Stamps.
When I was done die-cutting them from my white cardstock panel, I backed them with some pale pink cardstock. I then used that same pale pink cardstock to die-cut a
Stitched Heart and layered it over the top of a black
Scalloped Heart which became a frame for my panda bear couple. I heat embossed my punny "happy annibearsary" greeting onto a black pennant strip cut using our
Stitched Rectangle Dies and added a couple of our new
Color Changing Heart Drops. These turn to a brilliant hot pink color when exposed to extra bright UV sunlight (and varying shades in between depending on the sun's intensity). In the case of my dreary Pacific Northwest winter afternoon when I photographed this card, however, they were determined to stay clear.
Card No. 6: For my last card of the day, I have a third pop-up style card using our original interactive Sliding Window Dies. To give my card an instantly festive feel, I used patterned papers from our Surprise Party Paper pack. As it turns out the balloon patterned paper I used turned out to be busy enough all on it's own so I tried my best to keep the rest of my card fairly simple, decorating the party hats for my panda bears with a rainbow print to match.
I've been sharing small peeks here and there throughout the week of another new product in our Spring release line-up which I'm happy to officially introduce today which is our new Hayley Uppercase Alphabet Dies and Hayley Lowercase Alphabet Dies. I used them to spell our the punny phrase "You're the Beary Best". This phrase is actually part of the Panda Party Stamps, but the stamped words looked far too small on the space I had available so I chose to super size part of the greeting using the alphabet dies. I adore this cute and playful script-style font!
Pop-up Front View: When you pull on the yellow baker's twine string, the card pops up to reveal a hidden surprise message below. To help my mechanism run smoothly, I added my sliding window panel to my card front using foam tape on the three sides to give it the little extra clearance so it wouldn't snag on my hidden panda and banner below.
Pop-up Side View: For this particular card, I wanted a larger uninterrupted surface for my card front so I adhered a 3" x 4" panel to the bottom half of my slider which this side view better illustrates. You can learn more about how to use our
Sliding Window Dies with an older video I previously shared
HERE.
