Guest Designer Spotlight: Passionate Penguins Cards with Jane Trivedi

Hi Friends! Jane Trivedi here with you, and I'm so excited to be back as guest designer for the New Spring Release by Sunny Studio Stamps!  

For my first card, I used the Bursting Hearts die to create a beautiful heart background. Using a piece of A2 sized white cardstock, working from the center outward, I used a large blender brush to blend a pink background. Next, white cardstock was used to cut a pattern using the bursting hearts die. The white cut out was adhered to the ink blended background using liquid glue.  

Next, using one of the cute penguin images from Passionate Penguins stamp set. I stamped the image using copic friendly black ink and colored it using copic markers. The heart shaped balloons are from the Heart Bouquet stamp set. A white gel pen was used to add highlights to the images. Then, each image was then cut using the coordinating dies (I did a little fussy cutting for the heart balloons as well).

After the images were colored and cut, I adhered them to the center of the card front using thin foam squares. Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Heart Bouquet stamp set on white scrap cardstock and cut the ends using scissors. The sentiment strip was adhered using thin foam squares. Lastly, the card front was adhered to an A2 white card base and that completes the card!

My next card is a one dimensional card using the adorable penguin images from the Passionate Penguin stamp set. Using an A2 piece of Bristol cardstock, the images were stamped using memento tuxedo black ink. Next, I masked the images with masking paper and lightly blended a pink background using various shades of pink dye ink.  

Then, I removed the mask and colored the images using a mix of colored pencils and copic markers. The hearts were stamped using memento tuxedo black ink and colored using copic markers. A white gel pen was used for highlights.

The sentiment was stamped from the Passionate Penguin stamp set using versafine onyx black ink. The entire card front was mounted on an A2 white card base and that finishes the card.

The last card uses the same masking technique to create a playful scene using the Passionate Penguin stamp set. The images were stamped and masked to create the scene and were then colored with copic markers. A white gel pen was used to add highlights to all the images. The penguin in the front center of the card was stamped and colored separately from the other images. I then cut the penguin image using the coordinating dies and adhered it to the card front using thin foam squares. I like how the foam squares give the image some dimension when compared to the flat background.

The sentiment was stamped using the Passionate Penguins stamp set using black ink. Finally, I adhered the entire card front to an A2 card base and that completes the card!
