Hello all, Yan here! Sometimes the simplest ideas can create the most fun results, especially when you start playing around with border dies.
For today’s project, I’m using
the Ribbon & Lace Border Dies to create a custom
background, paired with the adorable Party Pets Stamp set for a sweet focal point.
First, I die cut the straight stitched border die from several different colours of cardstock. Instead of using them individually, I mixed and arranged the strips like a little puzzle, then secured everything with double-sided tape. This is such an easy technique, but it instantly creates a bold and playful background—and the best part is that every combination looks a little different.
Next, I stamped the cute cat and balloon from the Party Pets Stamp set onto Neenah Solar White cardstock, coloured them with Copic markers, and cut them out using the Party Pets Dies.
COPIC COLOR:
Cat: E41, E43, R30
Balloon: B000, B12, R30, RV10,
RV11, Y02, Y11
For the sentiment, I used the Scalloped Oval Mat 3 Dies together with a greeting from the Party Pets Stamp set. This adds a soft focal layer that balances the busy background nicely. To finish, I adhered everything with foam tape for extra dimension.
This is one of those projects where the supplies really do the work for you—the border dies make it so easy to create something that looks detailed and layered, even with a very simple process. I love how many different backgrounds you can create just by changing colours and placement.
Hope this inspires you to try mixing your border die cuts in a new way!
