Hello, Crafty Friends! This is Hanh Nguyen. I am so honored and excited to be Guest Designing for Sunny Studio Stamps and showcasing products from the new Summer Release. Summer is just around the corner and this new Release is packed with all sorts of fun summer vibes.
I am on the Sunny Studio Blog today to share with you three different ways to use the new Strawberry Patch Dies. I love all of the fresh fruits that are available during the summer time. Strawberries are definitely on the top of that list. These strawberry dies are just the cutest and are perfect for all of those summer themed cards. There are two dies to die cut the two layers for each of the strawberries. The top pierced layer leaves a nice texture and gives just a peek of color from the solid layer below. They are so much fun to play with and mix and match with the leaves and stems.
May Your Birthday Be Sweet! My first card is a 5.5" square birthday card featuring these delicious strawberries paired up with the new Build-A-Bowl Dies and some playful pandas from Panda Party Stamps. With the super cool Build-A-Bowl dies, you can create everything from a rimmed bowl to a colander to a basket, which I have used in my card today.
NOTE: For the Build-A-Bowl Dies, the inner and outer part of the basket are not intended to be die cut together. I found it easiest to die cut the inner part first, then align and die cut the outer part of the basket.
I die cut all of the parts from the Strawberry Patch Dies and Build-A-Bowl Dies out of Bristol Smooth, yellow and green cardstock. You could easily die cut all of the parts out of colored cardstock but I did not have the color that I wanted for my strawberries so I opted to ink blend them on white cardstock. I highly recommend die cutting the green stems and yellow flower centers out of colored cardstock though -- not only was it easier and faster on those smaller parts but there was also less of a chance of the white cardstock showing through any poorly inked areas.
I ink blended the pierced (top) layer of the strawberry with Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple and Fired Brick Distress Inks. I left the solid (bottom) layer of the strawberry white on this card. I added a little Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to the green leaves and stems for a bit of dimension. I layered and adhered all of the elements.
I stamped the images from Panda Party onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with gel pens. (Copic colors listed below). I used the coordinating Panda Party Dies to cut them out.
For the background, I took a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and ink blended with Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks. I used the largest die from the new Stitched Squares Dies to die cut the panel.
Did you see that there are FIVE new sets of square dies with this new release?! I was so ecstatic to see these. I love making square shaped cards and am so happy to see all of the options for square dies.
For the sentiment, I die cut two sets of the necessary letters from the Chloe Alphabet Dies out of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I ink blended with the same Distress Inks as the strawberries. I layered and adhered the letters together for a bit of dimension. I stamped one of the sentiments from the new Punny Fruit Greetings directly onto the inked panel.
I used the largest die from the Scalloped Squares 1 Large Dies to diecut a white scalloped mat for my inked panel. I adhered the two panels to each other. I adhered the letters, bowl and all of the strawberries and pandas as shown in the picture with a combo of liquid adhesive and foam squares.
Finally, I adhered all of the panel onto a piece of patterned paper from the Classic Gingham Paper before adhering it to a white card base (5.5" x 5.5").
Wishing You a Berry Happy Birthday! These pandas were loving the strawberries so much that I made a second birthday card with them. I created the strawberries in the same manner as the first card except that this time, I ink blended the solid (bottom) layer of the strawberries with the same Abandoned Coral Distress Ink. I think this made for a slightly redder set of strawberries.
I stamped and colored the pandas in the same
manner as the first card, using the following Copic colors:
Pandas: C00/0/1/3/5/7, R30
Red: R22/24/29
Green: YG01/03
For this layout, I used the Comic Strip Everyday Dies to die cut the frame out of white and green cardstock. I matched the green frame with the white inner parts. I lightly ink blended a bit of Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink to each of the white inner parts for a bit of interest.
For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiments from the new Punny Fruit Greetings directly into the upper left corner. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Big Bold Greetings Stamps with red ink and die cut with the coordinating Big Bold Greetings Dies.
I adhered the green frame and all of the white inner parts onto a white card base (4.25" x 5.5"). I adhered the sentiment, all of the strawberries and pandas as shown in the picture with a combo of liquid adhesive and foam squares.
For my last card, I made a fairly clean and simple note card. I created the strawberries in the same manner as the first card except that this time, I die cut the solid (bottom) layer of the strawberries out of green cardstock. I think this made for a slightly deeper red set of strawberries.
I used the medium sized die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies set to die cut a white panel. For the sentiment, I die cut two sets of the necessary letters from the Chloe Alphabet Dies out of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I ink blended with the same Distress Inks as the strawberries. I layered and adhered the letters together for a bit of dimension. I stamped the word "friend" from the new Big Panda Stamps directly onto the white panel.
I adhered the letters and all of the strawberries as shown in the picture with a combo of liquid adhesive and foam squares.
I trimmed a piece of green cardstock 1/4" larger to mat the white panel. I adhered a piece of craft foam to the back of the panel before adhering it to a piece of patterned paper from the Classic Gingham Paper before adhering it to a white card base (4.25" x 5.5"). I finished the card with a few sparkling clear sequins from my stash.
I truly appreciated this amazing opportunity to Guest Design for Sunny Studio Stamps. I had so much fun playing with these Strawberry Patch Dies. They are so versatile and can colored in so many different ways. I inked the top layer in the same manner for all of the cards and just varied the solid (bottom) layer to achieve a slightly different look. Which of the three different strawberries was your favorite?
