Sneak Peek: Introducing Garden Fairy & Feeling Froggy Stamps

Hello and welcome to day 4 of our Spring Peek Week!  All this week I have been showcasing cards using our newest collection which will be available for purchase tomorrow, January 8th.

Card No. 1: My first card of the day I used our new Garden Fairy Stamps. This set features 4 unique fairies, 3 butterflies, a new toadstool house, 2 sets of bluebell flowers, a snail, a myriad of sparkly pixie dust and 3 coordinating punny greetings.

I found this background in my stash which I created awhile back and never got around to using. I can't remember for sure which products I specifically used, but you could recreate a similar look by cutting masks using our Fluffy Cloud Border Dies & Slimline Nature Border Dies. I ran the panel through my die-cutting machine using the stitching border along the bottom edge from our Slimline Basic Border dies, along with a ric-rac edge.

For my rainbow border I blended Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers distress inks. This is yet another strip I had left over from a previous card. I often will save any portions like this that I cut off, hoping I can use them for a future project to save myself a little time. LOVE challenging myself to use scraps on my desk. I then stamped sparkles to match around my faires and added some Ranger Stardust Stickles liquid glitter to their wings.Sunny Studio Fairies in the Clouds Magical Birthday Card (using Garden Fairy Stamps & Ric Rac Border Dies)

Card No. 2:  I had envisioned this card when I designed this stamp set and I'm so happy the card turned out the way I had pictured (since it doesn't always work out that way). I combined the little lanterns from the Garden Fairy Stamps with the string of lights from our Scenic Route Stamps

To create the glowing effect. I started by inking some Squeezed Lemonade distress ink onto my white cardstock panel using a small foam finger dauber roughly where I planned to put my lights, going back and forth with holding up the die-cuts as I worked for placement. I then inked in some Salty Ocean Distress ink around them, overlapping the colors a little bit but trying to be careful to not blend so much that the glow turned more green than yellow. As I worked towards the outside edges, I blended in some darker Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks. I then die-cut my panel using the stitched mat from our Frilly Frames Retro Petals Dies

I kept the rest of my card fairly simple to keep the focus on the lanterns, heat embossing my sentiments using VersaMark ink and Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder. For the pixie dust on this card I added some small dots using a Sharpie White Extra Fine Point Paint Pen.

Card No. 3: Up next is a card showcasing the two bluebell flowers in the Garden Fairy set. I found yet another panel with the stitched Fluffy Cloud Dies in my stash. I remember this background was actually created for THIS card a couple years ago, but I messed up on the the horizontal panel when I accidentally grabbed the cloud cutout that comes with the set and die-cut a big cloud shaped hole in my panel requiring me to start over. Rather than toss it though I decided to trim it down and save it for a future project when I could use it for a vertical card and hide the bottom. It took me awhile to find the perfect application, but it just goes to show once again that almost every crafty "mistake" can be rescued.

I inked it up the cloud panel with Spun Sugar distress ink and layered it with some grassy borders (also leftover) which I colored with Copic markers and die-cut using the grass border from our Sunny Sentiment Dies. A banner from our Banner Basics Stamps colored with Shaded Lilac Distress ink and fussy cut was the perfect way to frame my fairy and add my sentiment to this card.

Card No. 4: For this card I wanted to highlight the new Slimline Pennant Dies in all their slimline glory. This is the largest of the pennants from the die set measuring 3-1/2" wide x 8.5" high, which I paired with a scalloped edge from our Fishtail Banner II Dies and mounted onto a piece of pink Bazzill swiss dot cardstock. I took inspiration of the ''sweet wishes" phase included with the Garden Fairy Stamps and decided to combine it with the "wishes" word die from our Layered Snowflake Frame Die set. I used the stitched trail from the Country Scenes Stamps for my butterflies and added a swirl of sparkles using the mini stamps from the Garden Fairy set.

Card No. 5: For my next card I wanted to feature the newest toadstool house in our mushroom house line-up, pairing it with the mountain range and fir tree border from our new Country Scenes Stamps. The little clouds from our Comic Strip Everyday Dies are the perfect size to compliment this scene.

I added a stitched hillside using our Slimline Nature Border dies and repeatedly stamped the little random tufts of grass that come with the Country Scenes set.
My punny thank you sentiment from the Garden Fairy set was stamped onto two stacked oval mats using the dies from our Stitched Oval Dies and Fancy Frames Oval Dies.

Card No. 6:  My last Garden Fairy card for the day uses many of the same components found on my previous card, but this card uses the trees and hilly border from Country Scenes for my background and features the cute fairy sitting on a daisy with the snail. Love them!  I once again added a stitched hillside using our Slimline Nature Border Dies, but this time I added some flicks of grass using my Copic Marker.

Card No. 7: Up next is a little cutie called Feeling Froggy that I can't help but smile at when I see them looking back at me with their big eyes. It's a mini 2x3 stamp set that comes with the frog sitting on a lily pad, a cute dragonfly, two little house flies, and two punny greetings.

For this card I paired them with the lotus flower / lily pads, stitched trail and cattail pond border from our Country Scenes Stamps and the larger sized lily pad, lotus flower & large water ring from our older Froggy Friends Stamps. I added a few other water marks around the other lily pads using stamps from Tropical Scenes. A thin strip of green gingham paper from our Gingham Pastels Paper pack finished off my card.

Card No. 8:  Up next is a card combining our newest Feeling Froggy frog, fly and dragonfly with the trimmer Froggy Friends and stamped a punny greeting from that set onto the thinnest banner from our Slimline Pennant Dies.

My polka-dot background is once again another stamped panel I had created years ago when our Background Basics Stamps debuted that I ended up trading out for another color so when I saw it in my stack of scraps I knew it would be the perfect compliment to these frogs. I added stitching to the edges using our Slimline Basic Border dies and a thin zig zag edge using our Ric Rac Border dies

Card No. 9: My last card of the day is a Valentine's Day take on the Feeling Froggy set, using the pond border and extra cattails from our Country Scenes Stamps and a big over-sized heart colored with Picked Raspberry Distress ink using our Stitched Heart dies.

I colored my water to have the appearance of ripples by flicking on long strokes with various colors of Copic Markers, not attempting to blend them. I added a scalloped edge to the bottom of my card using our new Slimline Pennant Dies which matches the same edge found on our previously released Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace Dies. My final touches included a heat embossed sentiment from Froggy Friends and a scattering of smaller hearts from our Basic Mini Shape II Dies and Basic Mini Shape 3 Dies which were coated with Glossy Accents by Ranger.Sunny Studio Punny Frogs in Pond Love Themed Card (using Feeling Froggy Stamps, Froggy Friends, Country Scenes Stamps & Stitched Heart Dies)

  5. Yay!!!!! Lovelovelove this new release! The fairy sitting on the flower 💗💗💗 & the toad with the the BIG eyes 🥰!

  6. I use a lot of colored cardstock in my cardmaking. My favorite way is to cut a die like Frilly Frames Retro Petals out of colored cardstock and then place that on the same color of card base. Cute cards today, Mendi!

  7. I'm so excited about this new release..... it's just so amazing!!!!

  8. These fairies are just darling on these sweet cards. I use coloured card stock for about 25% of the time for panels, sentiments and other decorative elements.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I ADORE these fairies! Beautiful cards! I use colored cardstock almost all the time... and pattern papers... I would say at least 75%

    ReplyDelete
  10. I use colored card stock about half the time.

  11. I love the new Garden Fairy stamps and dies. Their mushroom house is just enchanting, and the bluebells add just the perfect colorful touch!🧚‍♀️

  12. Love all of your new stamps but the frogs are my fav!!! I use white cardstock and pattern papers 85% of the time. 15% use for colored cardstock if I feel too much white on project.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The little fairies are fairy sweet! Love your examples today! I use white cardstock for the majority of my card bases and maybe use colored cardstock bases about 10% of the time. I do use lots of patterned paper and colored cardstock as accents though!

  14. These are all gorgeous. I usually use colored cardstock since my ink pads are about 20 years old!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I mostly use white, but have realized recently that if I start with colored, and add a little bit of ink to it, or just do die cutting, it can be faster. But mostly white, still..

    1. Yes! I did that for a couple cards this week and it saves sooo much time. I used to do that all the time in my scrapbooking, but then I got out of the habit. Fun to rediscover it again.

  16. Good question! I I do use a lot of colored or patterned for backgrounds, mostly because I'm too lazy to make my own backgrounds with inks, stencils, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I use mostly pattered or solid for backgrounds and need to use some inks and stencils for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Probably 90% white versus color. Love the adorable sets today. The frogs are super cute!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I tend to start with a white cardstock card base and use colored cardstock for matting. I do use more colored cardstock card bases for Christmas cards though. Thanks for the inspiration and chance to win. :D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh such a good question and making me think lol. I’d say probably 90-10 although at Halloween time I’d say I use black a lot more

    ReplyDelete
  21. What a cute bunch of cards. I usually only use cardstock as a mat but not as a card base. So about 50-60 percent.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love all the cute scenes on all the cards!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well... not a fairy gal, but definitely love the schroom house and the frogs! Super cute cards and love the wonderful happy colors! I use colored cardstock on every single card 100% and love patterned paper too!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Great cards today, Mendi! So much fun! I like to use colored cardstock for elements I can die-cut for ready-made uses such as leaves, petals, and background pieces like a tree. Once in awhile I use colored cardstock for my base, such as for an underwater scene.

  25. Love these cards today Mendi! I use mostly colored cardstock for my card bases. I would say about 90% of the time.

  26. Very sweet fairies! Really fabulous! Cute frog (or an enchanted prince). Thank you for the most amazing new stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I use white cardstock 80% of the time. I use colors or patterned papers the 20%.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Adore the fairy's! I use white 90%, but I think I am going to try to start using some color or patterned more.

    ReplyDelete
  29. These new stamps and dies are all so fabulous, and such amazing projects! My white card stock vs. colored card stock usage is equal at 50%/50%.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I haven't really calculated it, but I would guess maybe 75% white cardstock and 25% colored.

    ReplyDelete
  31. These darling fairies are so sweet... also love the toads. Mostly white cardstock but I do have colored also. Might be 75-25.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So many cute and colourful cards today. My cardstock usage would be 80% white and 20% coloured.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm stuck on using white cardstock almost all of the time! I sometimes use patterned or colored cardstocks for layering, but mostly use white to stamp on.
Really cute sets today and fun samples!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That little frog is so adorable! My daughter will have to have it!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Both sets are adorable. My granddaughters love fairies! This is perfect for them. The frogs have the cutest faces😊

  36. Another day of adorable cards and stamps! Loving those cute frogs!

  37. Super adorable sets!!, love the projects showcasing these cuties!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The fairies are absolutely precious!!! The snail is my favorite, so cute!!!! And the frogs are adorable too!

    ReplyDelete
  39. These are adorable. I like to use white cardstock and let my imagination go from there with either inks or stencils.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I rarely use colored cardstock except to use as a layer behind my main panel, as a frame. Can't help it, I love color and love to color. :)
The little fairies are precious and the frogs are toadally adorable. :P

    ReplyDelete
  41. The projects today are so cute. I really stink at ink blending even tho' I LOVE the look so I tend to use a lot of colored cardstock.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I use more paper than inking. I'm still getting the hang of that technique.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I mainly use white cardstock but I've challenged myself this year to use my colored cardstock as well as my patterned paper.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Garden Fairies are darling, and the little frog is cute too. I tend to use a lot of white cardstock for bases, but I also like to use kraft. I use colored cardstock for layers.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love fairies and these guys are the cutest!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lovely cards! I might use colored cardstock to stamp a sentiment or to stamp, then paper-piece an image, but otherwise white cardstock is what I’d use for stamping images.

  48. So cute! Love the little froggy & the scenes that were created on these pretty cards!

  49. So I am about 60/40 on my cardstock. 60% white cardstock and 40% colored cardstock. I really love using colored cardstock but have a hard time mass reproducing with it. I usually make 4 to 6 cards at a time so I usually do white.
These stamps are Fairy delightful and so cute and so fun!! You have me ribbeted! Can I just tell you how much you brighten up my life with your talents and your products and your exceptionally delightful personality!! I am seriously fangirling all over you!!

  50. Oooohhh I need the fairies!! My friend loves fairies!!

  51. How darling and cute
    all these cards are!
    I like using colored
    cardstock when I can.
    Carla from Utah

    ReplyDelete
  52. Absolutely darling cards and products! I’d say I use close to equal of each colored card stock and white card stock, so about 50% of each. The only time I find I use white just slightly more is when coloring in a stamped image with my Copic markers.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Probably 75 % colored and 25% white.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I use colored card stock 70% of the time - so much easier than white card

    ReplyDelete
  55. Love it all! But I must have the Country Scenes!

    ReplyDelete
  56. OMGoodness, the cuteness, the cuteness! Those fairies are adorable and those frogs make me happy! This release is AMAZING! As for white cardstock vs. color, I would guess 80% white.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Have I toad you lately how much I love your products? :-) They always brighten up my day! Every time I look at your character's adorable smiling faces I can't help but smile too. My heartfelt thanks to all of you at Sunny Studios, thanks for making wonderful products that bring so much joy to card recipients and to those who make the cards. Thanks for bringing a little sunshine to our days!

  58. Those frogs! So cute!
I love me some patterned paper!

  59. I use a lot of colored cardstock. I'd say 80% have a colored card base. And I use it a lot in framing my central images too. Great new release! LOVE the frogs!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Those frogs are adorable! I probably use 50/50 right now between colored cardstock and white cardstock.
