Sneak Peek: Harvest Mice, Farm Fresh & Little Buckaroo Stamps

Hello and welcome to day 2 of our Fall & Winter Peek Week!  All this week I am showcasing cards using our newest collection which will be available for purchase on Friday, August 21st.

Today's sneak peeks includes two new 4x6 critter stamp sets for Fall called Harvest Mice and Farm Fresh, along with a new mini 2x3 stamp set called Little Buckaroo. We are also unveiling our newest brightly colored Sleek Stripes Paper pack. I have quite a few cards to share today using these fun sets so let's jump right in!

Card No. 1:  First in our line up is a follow up to our popular Merry Mice Stamps, called Harvest Mice which features 4 new little mice, along with a number of great fall basics like a wheelbarrow and wagon that can mix and match with a number of our previous sets. I ran out of time to include them this week, but the accessories are the perfect size to pair with our Fall Kiddos stamps and I can't wait to use them together!

For my card here today, I started by repeatedly stamping and heat embossing the polka-dot pattern from our Background Basics stamps using Versamark Ink onto some red cardstock cut down to 4" x 9" and then heat embossing them with clear embossing powder. To line up the polka-dot stamps for a seamless pattern I shared how I do it on a previous post HERE.  The stitched mat from our new Slimline Scalloped Frame dies was the perfect size to set my little scene and still allow plenty of my polka-dot background to show through. After cutting our my mat, I inked up center with some tumbled glass distress ink and let it fade out toward the edges.  I then used the stitched only version of our Fluffy Cloud Dies to create my cloudy sky.  For my hillside I cut a border using our new Slimline Nature Border Dies and finished off the outside edges by running it through my die-cutting machine again with that same stitched mat that I used for my sky, inking up the grassy edge with some Twisted Citron distress ink.

For my busy mice, I filled the wheelbarrow with the two different little apple images from the set and paired them with the apple basket and tree stump from our Happy Harvest Stamps. The wagon's handle comes detached so you are able to move it around to pair with critters and kids of varying heights or use it for the mice to ride in by themselves like I did here. I finished off my card with a punny sentiment from the stamp set which I stamped onto a piece of green patterned paper from our Classic Sunburst Paper using a mini tag from our new Window Quad Square dies which I'll be sharing more of on Wednesday.

Card No. 2: The Harvest Mice Set comes with three new basic pumpkins and I thought they would look so cute paired together with the sunflowers from our Happy Harvest Stamps.  I inked up my background with mermaid lagoon and tea dye distress inks and then overlapped my trimmed down panel with a scalloped frame from our Fancy Frame Rectangle dies. I mounted the grouping onto a basic kraft card base and heat embossed my punny sentiment from the set with white embossing powder. I love how these colors look paired together!

Card No. 3: For my next card, I have the mice pulling each other in the wagon with some corn and cornstalks from the set that match with the smaller version of cornstalk from our Barnyard Buddies Stamps. I stamped them with alternating Key Lime and Olive green inks from the PinkFresh Studio Over The Hills Ink cube set and then cut a grassy border using our new Slimline Nature Border Dies.

I wanted to give my little scene a finished edge so I used the basic stitched border in our new Slimline Basic Border dies and let me tell you, I'm in love. As you will see throughout the week, I found myself adding stitched edges to everything! I think it's going to be the type of die that I constantly have within an arms reach at my desk and never put away. I also cut a ric-rac edge using that same border die set and mounted them onto a yellow striped paper from our our new Sleek Stripes Paper pack. A simple punny greeting from the set stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black ink completed my card.

Card No. 4: For my last mouse card of the day I had to try out the cute little sweater that comes with the Harvest Mice set and layers over the top of the mice.  I masked off my sweater before stamping my mice to get a seamless look, but you could also use your scissors to trim off the extra white edge along the neck and hemline of the sweater for a similar look. I was excited to pair them with the cute little mice shaped pumpkins that come with the set and the tree from our Happy Harvest stamps. They just make me smile. I framed my scene with our Stitched Semi-Circle dies and added the "Pumpkin Kisses & Harvest Wishes" sentiment from the set which I stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 5: Switching gears a bit, I have a card featuring our new Farm Fresh Stamps and dies. This set includes a scenic border which has a barn, windmill, tree and fence all in one. It also comes with two new chickens and a rooster to compliment the chicken and chicks from our Barnyard Buddies set. For my card here I used the hay feed box from the new set to put beneath my roosting chicken, pairing it with the flower, hay bale, chick & forward-facing chicken from our Barnyard Buddies stamps. To finish off my little scene, I carried out some more of that country feel, stamping a red gingham border using our Background Basics Stamps and a simple small scalloped edge using our new Slimline Basic Border dies.
Sunny Studio Barn & Windmill with Chickens Punny Red Gingham Handmade Card (using Farm Fresh, Barnyard Buddies, Background Basics Stamps & Slimline Basic Border Dies)

Card No. 6:  My next card uses those same new Farm Fresh Stamps, but this time I made the scarecrow and crows from the set my focal point.  I paired him with the pumpkins and cornstalks from the Harvest Mice Stamps, the hay bale and cornstalk from Barnyard Buddies and the tree from Happy Harvest. For my tree I created a little visual trickery by coloring just one tree that I cut in half and hid behind my Stitched Semi-Circle cutout. For my fun sunset, I blended my background with Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick distress ink which created a fun orange color where the two colors overlapped.  I then inked up another piece of cardstock with Vintage Photo distress ink and added stitching to the edge using the stitching border from our Slimline Basic Border dies. I finished off my card with a simple greeting from our Fall Kiddos Stamps, heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Sunny Studio Scarecrow with Corn Stalks & Pumpkins Handmade Card (using Farm Fresh, Happy Harvest Stamps & Stitched Semi-Circle Dies)

Card No. 7: For this fun slimline style card, I gathered up all our farm animals including the new goat and duck from our Farm Fresh Stamps and paired them with the Barnyard Buddies, Miss Moo and Missing Ewe critters. Since we don't have patterned paper long enough to cover a 9" wide card, I cut (18) 1/2" x 4" strips of our yellow gingham print from our Classic Gingham Paper pack and alternated which side I used, adhering them side by side on my card front for a patchwork look. I thought it worked perfect for a farm inspired card. I then topped it with our new Slimline Scalloped Frame and inked up the center with some Salty Ocean distress ink.

For my sentiment, I paired the words "happy birthday" from our Happy Thoughts Stamps with the words "from the funny farm" using our Kinsley Alphabet Stamps. To get my custom sentiment centered I quickly stamped them out letter by letter using a tiny clear block onto scratch paper, which I then trimmed down and positioned in the center of my card as a visual pattern for spacing the same sentiment onto my card background, first drawing some light lines with a pencil to keep things straight. I will say though that this step is probably best to do before going to the work of adhering your critters just in case you massively goof up and need to start over.

Sunny Studio Barn Animals Handmade Card (using Farm Fresh, Barnyard Buddies, Missing Ewe, Miss Moo, Happy Thoughts & Kinsley Alphabet Stamps + Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies)

Card No. 8: For my final card using the Farm Fresh Stamps, I used that same barn border on a vertical card, trimming off the excess fence. To frame my little scene I cut half of a basic 4" circle with blue cardstock and half with green cardstock, hiding my seam behind the fence line. I paired that same little scarecrow from the set with a couple of chickens, box of hay and a crow.  My scene had a "hole" in the top right corner which was the perfect place to place my punny greeting from the set.
Sunny Studio Fall Scarecrow with Chickens Handmade Card (using Farm Fresh Stamps)

Card No. 9: Continuing with the farm theme, we have a cute new mini set called Little Buckaroo featuring a cowboy and cowgirl, along with a "howdy" greeting. For my card here, I paired them with the horse, fence and hay bale from our Barnyard Buddies stamps & dies.  These make such a cute pair!

I started my masking my cardstock panel off so that I could ink my ground with Tea Dye distress ink and then flipped the mask and inked my sky using some Broken China distress ink. When I was done, I cut out my entire panel using our newest Frilly Frames Quatrefoil dies (to be shared more tomorrow).  This particular frilly frame actually cuts out a full A2 sized stitched panel which I'm super excited to have. I then used my Copic Markers in E31 and E34 to add some small dots to my dirt. When coloring my fence with Copics, I decided to color the shadow around the die-cuts in a complimentary Copic color to blend with my background. I also clipped off the ends of each die-cut nice and close to my fence pieces so I could sandwich them seamlessly side-by-side in a continuous border. A little jute bow tried around the middle helped cover the transition between my sky and ground and also served to add a little interest to this relatively simple design. I then heat embossed my sentiment onto one of our Banner Basic Dies using our new Classic Sunburst paper I'll be sharing later this week.
Sunny Studio Howdy Cowgirl & Cowboy Rodeo Card with Horse (using Little Buckaroo, Barnyard Buddies Stamps & Frilly Frames Herringbone Dies)

Card No. 10: Up next is a bright and sunny farm themed card using our Little Buckaroo Stamps together with the barn, fence and grass from our Barnyard Buddies Stamps. I had so much fun coloring my cowboy and cowgirl with the cow print chaps and vest!

To house my little scene I cut a stitched panel using our new Slimline Scalloped Frame that I let run off the edge, along with the red ric-rac trim cut using our new Slimline Basic Border dies. A yellow gingham border created with our Background Basic Stamps and
a custom "Howdy Partner" sentiment using our Kinsley Alphabet Stamps completed my country inspired look.
Sunny Studio Howdy Partner Yellow Gingham Cowgirl & Cowboy Card with Barn (using Little Buckaroo, Barnyard Buddies, Background Basics Stamps & Slimline Basic Border Dies)

Card No. 11: For my final card of the day, I thought it would be really fun to recreate the look of a wanted poster for party invitations. I started by embossing a wood texture onto a piece of kraft cardstock using our Woodgrain Embossing folder. I then used a Vintage Photo distress crayon to color over the surface and rubbed it into the surface, wiping off any excess with a tissue wrapped around my finger. I saw this technique used a my local craft store and I just adore the way it gives our woodgrain embossing folder such a realistic look!

For my actual wanted poster I downloaded the Barbaro Western font which is free for personal use from this website HERE. I made sure to space them so that there was room for my little pair, printing out a sample on printer paper first. I then adhered my trimmed down cardstock which I had already inked up with some tea dye distress ink to my printer paper with some photo squares and ran the paper through my printer again. The little photo squares peel right off and make it easy to then apply to my card.
