Hello and welcome to day 6 of our Fall & Winter Peek Week! All this week I've been showcasing cards using our newest collection which is now shipping! But before you head off to shop, make sure to see the last of our sneak peeks, enter today's giveaway and scroll down to read about our special sale going on!
Today's final sneak peeks include a new 3x4 holiday stamp set called Sledding Critters and two new mini 2x3 stamps sets called Surfing Santa and Hedgey Holidays. Let's jump right in!
Card No. 1: Up first is a card using our new Sledding Critters Stamps which is a winter version of our Cruising Critters Stamps. Two years ago my family and I took an early morning flight to JFK on Christmas morning to visit New York City and experience the city during the holidays which has been a lifelong dream. Turns out Manhattan is crazy busy that week as more and more visitors pour in leading up to New Year's eve, but we still had a fabulous time making memories that will last us a lifetime. My daughters got to go ice skating in Central Park so this card is my version of sledding in Central Park with the beautiful city in the background.
To set my scene I cut my city buildings using our Cityscape Border dies. For my snow hills, I used out Slimline Nature Border dies and added three trees from our Christmas Home Stamps. The Sledding Critter Dies come with two bonus word dies so I used the "sledding" word together with the stamped sentiment from the set, stretching and carefully cutting apart the word "sleddding" (although if you don't like to clip apart your stamps, you could also mask it off).
Card No. 2: For my second card I used our new Winter Scenes Stamps and Dies for my cabin and snowy trees backdrop, coloring them in neutral colors to keep the focus on the cute little critters. The Sledding Critters Stamps come with 3 delicate miniature snowflakes which I heat embossed in my sky which had been inked up with tumbled glass distress ink. My sentiment was created using the second bonus word that comes with the Sledding Critters dies, together with the sentiment from the stamp set. To create the look of chipboard, I die-cut the word "snow" four times and adhered them together with a liquid glue pen.
Card No. 3: My next set is dedicated to all our warm climate friends (or those who like to celebrate the holidays from a tropical locale). Our mini Surfing Santa 2x3 Stamps include Santa in his swim trunks, a separate surf board, a mini palm tree tree and the "Warm Christmas Wishes" sentiment, as well as a number of water splashes.
I took inspiration from Candice's card shared HERE and how having the three ice cream trucks moving across the card created a sense of movement so I thought I would try her technique here for my little Santa riding the waves. For my waves and stitched clouds I used the Slimline Nature Border dies. I stamped my sentiment onto the stitched scalloped circle from our Window Quad Circle dies. It felt like it was floating though so to ground it to my card, I cut a strip of our new Classic Sunburst Paper which I impressed with a stitched edge using the Slimline Border Dies.
Card No. 4: I wanted to create a Christmas card with an island vibe so I pulled out our Tropical Scenes Stamps and Sending Sunshine Stamps for my islands and palm trees. For the smaller palm trees in the background, I used the small solid tree that comes with the Surfing Santa Stamps, using my Misti so that I could double stamp them first with green for the palm branches and brown for the trunk. I also tried my best to wipe off any spots on the stamp with a damp cloth that got the wrong color before making my impression.
My sky was inked up using tumbled glass distress ink and then the horizon was masked off and I inked the bottom half of my panel with peacock feathers distress ink. I stamped waves using the supporting images in our Tropical Scenes stamps and then cut off the bottom portion of my card to allow me the space to have a little sliver of our Sleek Stripes Paper show through. I thought if I were Santa I would want a pair of polka-dot swim trunks so I add some dots with my white Sharpie extra fine paint pen. Lastly I stamped my a sentiment from our Heartfelt Wishes Stamps onto a piece of black cardstock with clear VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.
