Coastal Cuties Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here with you today, I'm super happy to be back on the blog with this summer slimline card featuring some cute characters having fun at the beach. To create this card, I did one of my favorite things, which is to start with one single set, and then search through my entire stamps collection to find the images that would go perfectly in my scene.

The first thing I did was to stamp all the images on Transotype perfect coloring paper using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Graph'it brush markers. So like I said I started with one stamp set, Coastal Cuties, and picked a whole bunch of additional stamps from different sets:

- the palm tree + parrot from Sending Sunshine
- the balloon + sandcastle + bag + sunscreen + parasol + shovel + two characters from Beach Babies
- the sun from Balloon Rides
- the leaves + flowers from Fabulous Flamingos
- the fish from Penguin Pals
- the grass sprigs from Garden Critters
- the palm tree + coconuts from Seasonal Trees
- the heart sunglasses from Beach Buddies
- the chair + a character from Kiddie Pool

Once the coloring was done, I moved on to the background, and cut an 8,5 x 3,5 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel. I divided it into three parts that I colored using oxide inks and stencils. At the bottom I created an ocean border using salvaged patina + peacock feathers + blueprint sketch oxide inks. In the middle I did two sand borders using antique linen + vintage photo oxide inks. And at the top I created the sky using squeezed lemonade + dried marigold + kitsch flamingo oxide inks.

Next I white heat embossed my "Happy summer" greeting from Beach Babies at the very bottom of my panel, and then attached my images using 1mm foam squares. As always I finished my card by adding highlights and details using a white gel pen. And I ended up with three little scenes: building a sandcastle on the upper part, relaxing and drinking a cocktail on the middle part, and having fun in the waves on the lower part.

Where do you see yourself? Me? You will find me in the chair with an orangeade in my hand! Thanks so much for stopping by, and see you next week!
