Sneak Peek: More Ideas using New Spring 2022 Release Available Today

Hello and welcome to the final day of our Sneak Peek Week!  Each morning this week I have been showcasing cards using our newest Spring collection which is now available to purchase! 

While I don't have any additional new products to reveal today, I do have a handful of new cards to share with you that I didn't have time to complete earlier in the week so I thought today would be a perfect day to share some more inspiration using the new release as a bit of a review.

Sadly I ran into some technical issues with my new phone after much time spent already filming the video so I hope you can forgive the fact that I shot it in the wrong mode with the wrong dimensions. I promise to do better next time.  Also it was a super gloomy day here with very poor lighting so I brought in some extra lamps which turned out to be less than ideal. Sorry...

Card No. 1: For my first card I have the scarf wearing, scooter riding giraffe. Of course I couldn't have this release pass by without using one of my favorite critters for our new Critters on the Go Stamps! I kept the rest of my card fairly simple using a tone-on-tone effect for my background with the new Bursting Heart Die. I love how it almost looks embossed this way. To frame my little scene I layered our Scalloped Circle Mat 1 dies with our Small Stitched Circle Dies and cut the stitched hillside using our Slimline Nature Border Dies. For my background I added the little tree from the Critters on the Go set and some clouds from our Comic Strip Everyday Dies.

Card No. 2: Up next is another French inspired card combining images from our Paris Afternoon Stamps and the Arc de Triomphe from the Charming City Stamps. To create my background I started with a white piece of cardstock, stamping the images from the sets using PinkFresh Studio Summer Shower Ink. I then inked up the outside edges of my panel working lighter towards the center with that same ink using my Jumbo dauber. When I was done, I trimmed off a bit from each side so that I could have a little space available to include thin strips of black cardstock and some blue striped paper along each edge from our Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper pack. My patterned paper actually turned out to not be a perfect match in the end so I helped disguise the slight difference by inking right over the top using that same Summer Shower ink to bridge the gap. Now they look like they are an exact match and custom made to go together! 

Before adhering my card panel to my card base, I added a sheer organza black & white polka-dot ribbon to my card about 1/3 of the way down from the top, using adhesive where I knew my label would hide it from showing and wrapping the ends to the back of my card panel where I could tape them down. For my sentiment, I die-cut a label using our Scalloped Oval Mat 2 Dies and stamped my "bonjour" greeting onto a piece of white cardstock once again with the Summer Shower ink. Before adhering my label to my card, I cut a second oval from black cardstock to fill in the holes behind my white oval and show through. Finally I added a bow to the side of my label to dress up this fairly simple card.

Card No. 3: Continuing with my apparent blue theme today I have a clean & simple Valentine's Day card featuring the two adorable poodles & the little beret hat from the Paris Afternoon Stamps. I started by cutting & layering the largest hearts from our Stitched Heart 2 Dies and Scalloped Heart Dies to frame the pair, adding a little pink heart between them from our Heart Droplets. For my background, I cut our new Quilted Hearts Portrait Dies using a piece of blue patterned paper from our Gingham Pastels Paper pack, which I then backed with a coordinating piece of pink cardstock. For my greeting I cut a pennant using our Stitched Rectangle Dies and heat embossed the "For One of My Favorite Humans" Sentiment from our Devoted Doggies Stamps.

Card No. 4: For this card I layered the Stitched Heart 2 Dies and Scalloped Heart Dies again to frame my focal point, this time stacking two of the three sizes on a pink patterned paper from our Flirty Flowers Paper pack. I then added in green ferns stemming from the center using our new Spring Greenery Dies with the Cherry Blossoms Stamps in the Center. It was then that I realized I had backed myself into a bit of a corner with very few places to stamp my sentiment. After going back and forth with a few different options though, I realized it might be fun to stamp a sentiment on a curve so I used the "thanks" greeting from our Daffodil Dreams Stamps, curving it on a piece of acetate over my finished card and quickly closing my MISTI lid over the top before it tried to spring straight again.

With each new collection we always have a new free mini die we include automatically with orders placed in our online store. For this release we have a super versatile little daisy die!

Card No. 5: I couldn't resist putting the new die to good use so I have a card to share that I created using it. For my card I started by coloring the sky and grass background using Caran D'Ache Luminance colored pencils onto sketch paper with a little "tooth" designed for colored pencils. I then used Gamsol odorless mineral spirits with a cotton swab to blend the sky and pull color towards my open cloud spaces to give them a fluffy appearance. For my grass I also used the Gamsol to smooth out the lightest color before layering on the blades of grass in a variety of pencil colors.

I then cut down my background using the middle sized die from our Stitched Rectangle dies. For my daisies I cut two white portions for each daisy flower so that I could layer and offset them to look fuller with more petals before topping them from a center cut from yellow cardstock and speckled with more dots using my colored pencils. Before adhering my flowers to my panel, I pierced holes below them using a sharp paper piercer so I could run some embroidery floss for stems and tape the excess strings on the back of my panel. For the butterfly and little leaves I used the dies from our Basic Mini Shape II Dies which I also cut from colored cardstock and embellished with the pencils. I used that same paper piercer to add a trail for my butterfly and then mounted the finished panel onto a piece of white cardstock which had been die-cut with a matching stitched edge using our Frilly Frames Quatrefoil dies.
