Guest Designer Spotlight: Roly Poly Penguins Cards with Sara Zoppi

Hi crafty friends, Sara here! Today I am so happy to be here, guesting again for Sunny Studio Stamps! And today I have three cards featuring the most adorable penguin stamp set ever, the recent released Roly Poly PenguinsSo, let's dive into the first one!

As soon as I saw the stamp set I knew I would have created a sort of pattern with lots and lots of penguins. The dimensions of the images are perfect because they aren't too much small so it didn't take a lot to mask and cover an A2 piece of cardstock.

I firstly created all the masking pieces by stamping the 6 Roly Poly Penguins on some Judikins Masking Paper (it is my favorite to create masks, and the roll really lasts a lot). Then I took a piece of A2 cardstock and I started randomly stamping the penguins from the lower edge to the upper one. I then started coloring: it didn't take soo long because I firstly colored all the penguins, then all the accessories with the same markers, which are listed below.

• Penguins: 100-N9-N8-N7-N5-N4 | E50 | YR15
• Blue combo: B06 - B04 - B02 - B01 - B00
• Red combo: R39 – R29 – R27 – R24
• Pink combo: R24 - R22 – R21 – R20 – R00
• Light brown combo: E43 – E42 – E42

When I was happy with the result, I trimmed the panel to 3 5/8"x 4 7/8" and I layered a 3.75"x5" glittery silver cardstock behind. For the sentiment, I white heat embossed one of the Inside Greetings Season stamp on some red cardstock and I created a strip. To complete the card, I attached the penguin panel on an A2 piece of white cardstock using foam tape and then I adhered the sentiment strip. And here's the finished result!

For my second inspiration, I went for a clean and simple look on kraft cardstock, that I especially love when I create winter cards.

I firstly stamped the 4
Roly Poly Penguins in the lover part of an A2 piece of kraft (this one is Neenah Desert Storm Smooth), I recicled the masking pieces created for the first card. I used a light brown ink, since I wanted a no-line look. Then I colored the penguins using the Copics listed below.

• Penguins: T10 – T8 – T7 – T6 – T5
• Beak: Y38
• Red combo: R89 – R59 – R46 – R35

When I use the no-line technique, I always combine Polychromos Pencils too, because I need to better define the edges and reinforce some shadows. I took some coordinated greys and red to do that. I also took a white pencil to add white onto the body of the penguins and some of the accessories.

I then decided to add a big sentiment on the upper part: I used the big "Greetings" word which comes from the previously released Season's Greetings stamp set, while the word "sending" is from Festive Greetings stamp. I white heat embossed everything and then I also stamped some snowflakes (which come form the Deck the Halls stamp) here and there to add some interests. I trimmed the panel to 3 5/8" to 5.5" and I layered a slightly larger rosegold glitter cardstock behind. To complete the card, I attached everything to an A2 white panel. And here's the second finished result!

For my last inspiration, I have to say I found a beautiful layout like this on Pinterest, which was my main inspiration. So I decided to turn it into a card.

I took a 4 3/8" square panel and I drew 4 circles of 1,5". I created a mask for the "holes" and I carefully stamped the four
Roly Poly Penguins with some accessories, like the gift or the Christmas hats. I used a really light ink because i wanted a total no-line look, and as I said before I firslty colored with the Copics listed below and then defined the edges with pencils.

• Penguins: 100 – W10 – W9 – W8 – W7 – W6
• Red combo: R59 – R46 – R29 – R43
• Pink combo: R21 – R20 – R00
• Backgrounds: G21 – B93 – RV95 – Y32

I then die cut the Merry Word from some silver glitter cardstock and I layered two white die cuts behind to create depth. To complete the sentiment, I also white heat embossed two black strips using the words included in the Lazy Christmas stamp. To complete the card, I layered a 4,5"x4,5" silver glitter cardstock and a 5"x5" white panel too. And here's the finished result!

Thanks for stopping by! I really hope you will like my projects and you will be inspired to create something! Hugs from Italy!
