Sometimes
when you find a friend you really enjoy spending time with, it’s fun to just
take a drive, listen to music and talk. Hi there! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with
a greeting card that was made for one of those special friends in your life.
What could be more fun than driving through a tropical landscape with the top
down? Hawaii comes to mind for me. My husband and I rented a convertible
and drove through the most beautiful areas of one of the islands. We had so
much fun! These happy memories inspired this card.
I’m
using the following products
for this card:
Tropical Trees Backdrop die set
Passionate Penguins stamp set and coordinating die set
Polka Dot Parade 6″ X 6″ pattern
paper
To make this 5″ X 7″
card, I started by cutting a 7″ wide X 10″ tall card base and all the dies from
the Tropical Trees Backdrop die set out
of 80lb white cardstock. I also cut a separate 5-1/4″ X 4″ backdrop piece for
the scene. Using Copic markers, I colored the following cuts:
Palm
Trees: E59, E57, E55, YG67, YG17, Yc10G03
Convertible
Car/Penguins: YR09, YR68, YR15, 100, C8, C5, C3, C1, C0, Y06, Y08
Clouds:
BG23, BG11, BG10
Gravel
Road: W8, W7, W4, W3, 100, C8, C7, C5, C3 (Note: This piece was hand cut.)
I also used YG67 for the Grass blades
along the road.
For the scene backdrop, I used
Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Broken China to create the sky and
Mowed Lawn for the bottom grassy area on the separate, scene piece. For more
depth, I added faint palm trees to the background using the negative space of
the die cuts and blending on Rustic Wilderness for the leaves and Rusty Hinge
for the trunks. While subtle, this really creates depth to the scene.
On the front of the card base,
I added 1/2″ horizontal strips of pattern paper from the Polka Dot Parade 6″ X 6″ pattern paper in the center. I attached the separate
5-1/4″ X 4″ scene piece to the middle of the card front and adhered the
stitched border around it. All of the scene elements were added to the scene. I
layered the clouds and the die cut trees over the inked background. The
die cut palm trees were attached using Scrapbook Adhesives foam tabs. I
allowed the palm trees’ leaves to extend over the stitched borders on the sides
as well as the big cloud die cut. The car was placed over the gravel road.
On the inside, I stamped
two more penguins and the cute phrase from the Passionate Penguins stamp set and
attached pattern paper strips (leftover from the front panel) at the bottom for
added fun and color! This card is ready to cruise down the road with its top
down!

Hi Friends! Catherine here, sharing a Summer card created with the Tropical Trees Backdrop and the all so adorable Passionate Penguins Stamps.
To start, I die cut the Tropical Trees Backdrop with White Cardstock. I placed the backdrop frame onto another piece of White Cardstock 4.25’ x 5.5.” Using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, I ink blended both pieces with a cloud stencil made with Fluffy Clouds Border Dies leaving about 1.5” on the bottom white.
Next, I placed the sand piece of the Tropical Trees Backdrop back inside the backdrop frame and ink blended the sand and the bottom part of the frame with Antique Linen Distress Oxide. I added a grainy effect with Copic Markers.
For the waves, I die cut three pieces of White Cardstock with the waves from Catch A Wave Dies. I ink blended the waves with Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Inks and sprayed some water onto the waves.
I die cut the two palm trees in the set with White Cardstock and ink blended the trees with Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen, Mowed Lawn, and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Inks. I added coconuts with two small circles and ink blended the coconuts with Ground Espresso and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Inks. I then die cut the birds from the set with White Cardstock and ink blended with Black Soot Distress Ink. I glued the waves, birds, and palm trees onto the background.
I added the adorable Penguins from Passionate Penguins Stamps which were die cut with the coordinating die set Passionate Penguins Dies and colored with Copic Markers. I added sunglasses from Beach Buddies Stamps on one Penguin friend and a flower from Tiki Time Stamps on the other friend.
The surf boards are from Surfing Santa Stamps. The sandcastle from Beach Babies and seashells are from Fintastic Friends. I finished off the card with a white heat embossed sentiment from Tiki Time Stamps.
