Sneak Peek: Introducing Afternoon Tea Teacup & Teapot Stamps & Dies

Hello, and welcome to day 2 of our Summer Sneak Peek Week!  All this week I am sharing cards showcasing our newest collection, which will be available for purchase this Friday!

Card No. 1: Today, I am sharing our new Afternoon Tea Stamps, which include a cute teapot, two different coordinating teacups, a saucer, a spoon, teabags, sugar cubes, a floral arrangement, one large Mother's Day greeting, and a number of other punny everyday greetings to enjoy this set all year long.

For my first card, I started by die-cutting a stitched panel from the Spring Fever Paper pack using the Frilly Frames Quatrefoil Dies. I then layered an embossed, scalloped mat cut from white cardstock over that, using the Frilly Frames Lattice Dies. I started by die-cutting the lacy outer edge with the outer die, then ran the mat through my die-cutting machine again with the inner die and an embossing mat so it would emboss the cardstock rather than cut it out. Lastly, I cut a stitched sentiment strip using the Slimline Pennant Dies cut from a pink gingham print found in the Gingham Pastels Paper pack. It felt a bit plain on its own, so I dressed it up by cutting small scalloped trim for both sides from lavender cardstock with the Slimline Basic Border Dies. The tiny, layered flowers I used to decorate my teapot and draw attention to my greeting are also included in the new stamp set.

Card No. 2: Next up, I have a Mother's Day card using the new Afternoon Tea Stamps. I started by coloring three teacups and saucers with floral to adorn the top of each with my Copic Markers, and then framed them all lined up with our Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies. I inked up behind the row of cups with a blend of spun sugar and picked Raspberry Distress inks, then tucked the oversized Mother's Day greeting between the last two teacups. This simple design came together quite quickly after my images were colored, and I love how it turned out!

Card No. 3: For this fun card featuring the Afternoon Tea Stamps, I used the polka-dot and partial polka-dot images from the set to staple a polka-dot pattern, then colored my images in a bold red & white print. I wish I had a tea set like this in real life! I accented my scene with some lemons from the Sweet As Can Bee Stamps and framed them all using the Frilly Frames Polka-Dot Dies. Lastly, I stamped the punny greetings from the set with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 4: My next Afternoon Tea card stacks the two teacup styles into a fun rainbow of four cups with a saucer. To make them look like they are stacked inside each other, I fussy-cut and trimmed a slit along the side of each cup. I also alternated the two styles so that the handles alternated between the left and right sides. I experienced a die-cutting mishap on my second card, but I hated to throw out the entire piece, so I repurposed the good parts of the die-cut for this card, using the Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies to bleed off the top and bottom. I also cut two 1" strips of a rainbow gingham print from the Spring Fever Paper pack to adhere on the two outside edges to pull together all the colors from my teacups.

Card No. 5: For this Mother's Day Card using the Afternoon Tea Stamps, I started by embossing a white cardstock panel using the Dapper Diamond Embossing Folder. I then trimmed a bit from both the top and bottom to allow a pink-striped print from the Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper pack to show through. This is yet another great way to use up the extra scraps you have leftover after trimming an A2 panel from a 6x6 patterned paper. I have a clear bag where I always store my scraps, and I always reach for it first when I need just a little something extra to dress up my cards.

For my focal point, I colored a teacup with a mismatched saucer filled with flowers and stamped the large Mother's Day greeting from the set in a coordinating Lilac ink. I then arranged all the cute little layered flowers I had already stamped earlier for my first card, creating a floral diamond print in the background. This card was almost entirely made from scraps on my desk, so I was super happy with how it came together. In fact, the green teacup was a leftover from my last card when I realized I had accidentally colored the wrong teacup green, and I wondered how I was ever going to make a green teacup work on another card, so it just goes to show you can almost rescue any creative mistake.

Card No. 6: Yesterday, I shared a sneak peek of our new Sweet As Can Bee Stamps coming out on Friday, and today I have another card combining that set with our new Afternoon Tea Stamps. I started by cutting four 3/8" strips of striped paper from our Spring Fever Paper pack and mitering the corners for the strips on the left and right sides to allow the stripe to show on all four sides of my card. I then added a stitched mat, cut from white cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Lastly, I arranged all the images from the two sets to create a darling scene with the teapot, teacup, honey, lemon, and bumblebees, before I stamped the punny greeting on either side of my teapot.
