Feliz Navidad Cards with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here with you today, I'm thrilled to be back on the blog with this new trio of mini holiday cards showcasing a mix and match of images from different sets (listed down below), as well as the Feliz Navidad stamp set.

As you can see I went for a non-traditional color palette, and was actually inspired by Critter Country pattern papers to build and color my three Christmas cards. And speaking of which, I started off by cutting all my papers:

- three stripe panels using the second rectangle die from Stitched Rectangles

- three polka dot panels using a die from Mini Mat & Tag 4

- three gingham green panels using the same die from Mini Mat & Tag 4 again, and from each of those panels, I cut three wavy borders using a die from my stash

- three vellum panels using the smallest rectangle die from Stitched Rectangles

I white heat embossed a greeting on each gingham green wavy border: the words "Hoping your... is" and "on point" from Looking Sharp, and the word "holiday" from Santa Claus Lane, in order to read "Hoping your holiday is on point".

I followed the same order to layer my panels and used liquid glue to attach them on top of each other: a stripe panel on a card base, next a polka dot panel on top, then a vellum panel (I put the glue only at the bottom of it), and finally a gingham green wavy border. I set my card bases aside, and moved on to the stamping.

I stamped all my images on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my Graph'it brush markers and Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. And as I was saying, I followed the same color palette as the pattern papers to color my images. Here is a detailed list of the sets I used:

- Lovable Llama: llamas, presents
- Looking Sharp: cactus
- Scene Route: lights
- Reindeer Games: hats
- North Pole: nice list
- Penguin Pals: candy canes
- Garden Critters: grass
- Merry Mice: scarves

Once everything was colored, I attached the images on my panels: the lights and cactus using liquid glue, and the others using 1mm foam squares. Next I white heat embossed three Feliz Navidad greetings on black cardstock, used the matching die to cut all three, and then attached them on my cards using 1mm foam squares again. And as always I finished my cards by adding highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen.

Bells & Baubles Card with Gladys

Hi crafty friends, Gladys here! I'm excited to be back on the blog today with a holiday card using the Bells & Baubles layering stamps and dies.

To start, I cut an A2 panel from white cardstock and added some color on the opposite edges using distress oxide inks in mowed lawn. I used the tree branch to stamp directly on the top left of the card panel. I stamp it again on a piece of white cardstock and used the coordinating die to cut it. For more interest I used Gansai Tambi starry watercolors in gold loosen with some water to splatter all over the tree branch and panel. 

Next, I used Pinkfresh premium dye inks for the ornaments. Since it is a layering stamp set I chose a light, medium, and dark colors to make the layers stand out. I used my Misti to help me line up the stamps in place. Once again I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Blue: sky blue, summer shower, seaside
Green: ocean breeze, aquamarine, mermaid cove
Purple:  soft lilac, lavender, candy violet

I arranged all the elements on my card and pop them up with double sided foam tape. Finally, I heat embossed the beautiful "Merry Christmas" sentiment on vellum with gold embossing powder to tie in all the gold specks on the card.

Holiday Hugs Card with Isha

Hello everyone! Isha here with another holiday card featuring the Holiday Hugs stamps and dies. I combined a few other products from the previous releases to create this adorable scene. I love the size of this cute bear and especially the die-cut to pop the arm so it could hold something :)

To start, I sponged peacock feathers and mowed lawn distress oxide inks through the Forest Trees stencil until about half the card. I then sponged kitsch flamingo and picked raspberry oxide inks to create the sky. Next stamp some of the snowflakes from the Holiday Hugs stamp set. Flick white paint to this layer and let dry.

Die-cut the frame from the Fancy Frames Rectangle from white cardstock. Adhere to the layer. Adhere this to a white cardbase.

Stamp the images, color and die-cut using the coordinating dies:
Bear, Gift, sentiment: Holiday Hugs stamps and dies
Fir Branch: Bells & Baubles stamps and dies
Small gifts: Holiday Express stamps and dies
Bulbs garland: Scenic Route stamps and dies

Stamp the word "GREETINGS" onto black card using versamark ink, sprinkle WOW! opaque white embossing powder and heat set.

Woolen Mitten Die Focused Gift Tags with Bobbi

“This mitten belongs to…” Just add a name to these cute mitten gift tags and your gifts are in good “hands!” Bobbi here and today I’m using the new Woolen Mitten dies by Sunny Studio Stamps. This is such a cute die set. 

You get a large mitten base that can be used to make cards, gift tags, fireplace or tree garland, table or buffet name tags and more. There’s lots of accessories to add to the mitten, too.  I made these two gift tags and I added a "to/from" on the back side using the Christmas Icon stamps.

To make these mittens, I cut the mitten bases from 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock. I like to cut two for my tags and attach the back panel at the end with a string sandwiched in between for a nice, finished, hanging tag. Most of the accessories for these tags are cut from white cardstock with the exception of the blue and lavender holly leaves, lavender knit band and the colored strips on the striped mitten.

To make the first mitten, I cut the mitten base from white and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Cable Knit Embossing Folder. I love the texture achieved by doing this. I ink blended Ranger Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China to the textured base using a light hand.

TIP: I wanted to make the yarn look like it was a multi-color fiber variety so I used a Copic V01 marker to add  lavender fibers to the blue inked, embossed design. Think of all the possibilities for creating unique yarns! 

I added a lavender knit band, two cute marbleized buttons in blues and purples, thread, lace trim, a layered snowflake, and white and lavender holly leaves to the mitten front.

TIP: Create marbleized buttons by ink blending on multiple colors to the buttons. I used an ink blender and Distress Oxide Inks in Broken China, Milled Lavender and Spun Sugar for this look.

Once everything was assembled and glued in place, I attached a holiday string to the back of the front panel and then added the back panel to cover the string ends. I glued the front and back together and stamped a "to/from" on the back side to finish the tag.

To create this striped mitten, I cut strips in various widths and attached them to a white piece of cardstock. I ran the striped sheet through my die cutting machine to make the mitten shape.

I stenciled on darker-shaded snowflakes to the blue and light pink wider stripes to make the mitten more interesting.

TIP: To make the snowflake design, use the scrap of the snowflake cutouts from the first mitten to create the stencil. I used Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks to stencil the design on the pink and blue wide stripes. 

I used my white gel pen to add smaller snowflakes over the larger, stenciled ones for a fun pattern.

To finish this look, I added the ribbed cuff, lace edge, layered poinsettia, holly leaves, a button center with the threaded “X” and lots of extra stitching between the stripes. For the smaller stripes, I used my white Gelly Roll white gel pen to add faux stitching lines in white. Like the first mitten, I added an iridescent string to the back and attached a mitten back panel to conceal it.
