Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards & Video Tutorials by Nina Marie Trapani

I'm so excited to welcome Nina Marie Trapani to the blog today as our special guest. She has some gorgeous cards that you are going to just love!

Hello crafters, it's Nina Marie here! Today I’ve got two cards to share with you that both feature stamp layering. They are simple and fun to make, plus are easy to mail; what could be better than that?

I’m sharing these cards today as a guest post for Sunny Studio Stamps. Mendi – the creator and owner of Sunny Studio – is a good friend of mine and I always love supporting her company as often as I can by making cards with her fun products. Here’s a look at the two cards I made … each use the same general technique but both look completely different!

For these cards, I am using some of her newest stamps - Perfect Popsicles and Two Scoops. There are also coordinating dies available for both sets (see the Perfect Popsicle dies and Two Scoops dies).
On the first card with the adorable mint chocolate chip ice cream cone I was being very conscious of the fact that I was going to be making this particular card for my dad. When I create a “guy card”, I like to make them clean-lined and no frills. Guy cards can be a struggle for many of us I know, so I find it helpful to keep them clean and simple.

I chose to make a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone because it is my favorite ice cream flavor (plus I think its more interesting). I used inks from both Simon Says Stamp and Altenew for my stamping. You can find the colors listed below:
•  Ice cream scoops: Mint and Mint Candy
•  Chocolate chip sprinkles: Dark Chocolate
•  Cone: Paper Bag and Caramel Toffee

Next I made a background behind the ice cream cone; I used a couple of the stamp layering images and stamped a tone-on-tone pattern. For those of you new to the term, tone-on-tone stamping is where you stamp a pattern onto paper using an ink shade that is very close or slightly darker than the paper you are stamping onto.
To create the tone-on-tone effect on this card, I paired Lipstick Red ink and cardstock from Simon Says Stamp together.

For the greeting, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Perfect Popsicles set in white embossing powder.
My next card came as an idea that I had while creating the card above! This one is completely one layer and features the Perfect Popsicles set.

These popsicles are so cute, don’t you think? I stamped this card out in a summery color combo; you can find the ink colors I used below:
    •       Pink: Teeny Bikini and Hot Lips
    •       Orange: Sunshine and Orange Slush
    •       Yellow: Lemon Chiffon and Lemon Zing
    •       Mint green: Mint and Mint Candy
    •       Blue: Maliblue and Caribbean Blue
    •       Brown sticks: Paper Bag, Caramel Toffee and Dark Chocolate

After stamping the popsicles, I also added some of the cute melting drops around the popsicles. This brought out the colors of the popsicles really nicely and I like the additional pop of color!

Next it was time for some dimension, even though this is a one layer card. Because it is also clean and simple, details are important. I used Nuvo white gloss and white blizzard drops from Tonic Studios on the popsicles and melting drops to add that little bit of depth.
You’ll also notice the brown heat embossed sentiment; this was from the Two Scoops set and I stamped it with Dark Chocolate ink. I also added a bit of clear embossing powder on top to create some contrast.

I hope you will check out the two videos below to see how I created both cards. Stamp layering is so much fun, and a perfect way to add color (with detail!) to your cards without having to break out any markers, paints or pencils!

Heartfelt Wishes Treat Filled Birthday Card with Lexa

Hello everyone! Lexa here with a card featuring the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp, which I'm pairing with the Sweet Shoppe Stamp. Candles on top of everything! I bet my little boy will love this, since he loves to blow out candles. Well, who doesn’t?

I aligned the sentiment from Heartfelt Wishes and Wishes Word Die on the white cardstock before I white heat embossed the sentiment. I made sure to leave enough empty space for the word "wishes". I stamped all of the images with Versafine black ink and watercolored them with Distress Markers. Stitched Scallop Dies is so adorable both as wave and scallop borders, as you can see here.

I blended the background with Festive Berries Distress Ink. The red is so vibrant and I love it. The cherry and strawberries are there to compliment the red on the background. I use some brown polka dotted patterned paper on the bottom part of my card. The last touch was to add some glossy accents and glitter on the cupcake's icing.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really hope you like today's card. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Pirate Pals Boy Themed Pirate Card with Vanessa

Hello everyone, this is Vanessa with a fun pirate card! The PiratePals stamp set is perfect to make cards for boys, I am glad to finally have a set for this audience! Here comes the card I made for today.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Pirate Pals Boy Themed Pirate Card by Vanessa Menhorn

First I trimmed a piece of map patterned paper slightly smaller than my card base and adhered it. Now I ripped off a piece of distressed/letterlike patterned paper, distressed it some more and adhered it with foam tape. I stamped the images onto white cardstock, colored them with Copics and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.

After I had adhered the pirate and his props with foam tape, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of red cardstock, trimmed it and adhered it to the card.

What boy wouldn't like to receive this card? I enjoyed creating it very much! Have a wonderful week, see you next Thursday!

Perfect Popsicles Summery Popsicle Trio Card with Amy

Hello crafty friends! Amy here to share with you a summery card using the new and fabulous Perfect Popsicles stamp set.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Perfect Popsicles Summery Popsicle Trio Card by Amy Yang

I used one of my favorite color combination to stamp the Perfect Popsicles using dye inks and cut them out with coordinating dies. Don't they look good enough to eat? Mendi did such an amazing job creating these layering stamps to give it realistic 3D look.

Using the same dye inks, I stamped the ink pad on acetate and added some water to dilute it. I used a paintbrush to pick up the colors, and added random dots to the card front.

Then, I used prepared trimmed Bristol cardstock to blend the same colors with a blending tool and added a sentiment from Perfect Popsicles. I adhered blended paper to the card front, and added a strip of white paper as shown. To finish, I popped up the Popsicle with foam tape for dimension and mounted the card front to the top folding card base.

Thanks for stopping by, see you again next Wednesday!

Magical Mermaids Summery Hello Card with Karin

Hi everyone, it’s Karin here. Today, I’m sharing a new, very summery, card that I've created with the new Magical Mermaids stamps.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Magical Mermaids Summery Hello Card by Karin Akesdotter

I stamped the mermaid first and then masked her before stamping the rock. When that was done, I colored my image with Copic markers.

I made a card base from white cardstock and trimmed a panel that was slightly smaller and adhered that to the base with foam adhesive. I then die cut a stitched rectangle that I inked with distress ink and used that as a background panel for my mermaid. I cut a speech bubble from white cardstock and stamped my sentiments before adhering everything to the card with foam adhesive.
