Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm thrilled to be back on the blog with this slimline card featuring the cutest penguin family celebrating the new year. It was super fun to create this lovely North Pole habitat for these guys, and as always I mixed and matched a bunch of images from different sets to achieve this super adorable scene.
I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and used my alcohol markers to color everything. Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Penguin Pals - penguins, fish • Kiddie Pool - splatters • Bear Hugs - snow floe • Winter Scenes - igloos • Country Scenes - mountains • Snowmen In Sweaters - trees, snowflakes.
I cut an 8,5 x 3,5 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel, divided it in five sections, and used stencils along with oxide inks to create a lovely winter landscape. At the very bottom of the panel, I made the sea using a hill stencil along with uncharted mariner and chipped sapphire oxide inks. I splattered water on the ink and dried the panel using a paper towel. I also mixed some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water, and used a slim brush to add more splatters to my sea section.
Right above that sea section, I created three snowy hills using another hill stencil along with tumbled glass and broken china oxide inks. I mixed some broken china oxide ink with water, and used my slim brush to add splatters on those snowy hills.
At the very top of my panel, I created a night sky using uncharted mariner, chipped sapphire and black soot oxide inks. I splattered water on the sky and dried the panel using a paper towel. I also mixed some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water, and added more splatters to the sky.
To achieve my winter landscape, I added falling snow and sparkling details. I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, used my slim brush to add splatters all over my panel, and then I did the same with liquid stardust.
Once my panel was dry, I attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, and added highlights and details using a white gelly roll pen. I white heat embossed "Happy New Year" from Holiday Greetings on black cardstock, cut it using the matching die, and attached it on the sky section using 1mm foam squares. For the final details, I added a frosty effect to the snow on the trees and snow caps on the mountains: I first added liquid glue on those spots, sprinkled fine glitter on the glue, let the glue dry, and finally used a fluffy brush to get rid of any excess glitter.
And that's it! Thank you so much for stopping by, and see you next time!
