Happy Howl-o-ween & Bewitching Halloween Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some fall scene cards featuring our Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps and Bewitching Stamps with dramatic inky backgrounds.

For my first card of the day, I paired the cats & caldron from our Bewitching Stamps and Grat Cat Stamps, doing my best to hide the graduation cap on the one kitty with an extra Witch's hat. I framed my scene with a Stitched Oval 2 Die and added my sentiment from the Bewitching set onto the Brilliant Banner 2 Dies, which I had inked up to match the dripping, bubbling brew using Crush Olive and Twisted Citron Distress Ink. I added another dog wearing a Witch costume and riding a broomstick over the top right corner from the Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps.

For my card's background, I started by inking a piece of white cardstock with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. I then ran the oversized panel through my diecutting machine using our Sunburst Embossing Folder. After drying the distress ink really well with my heat gun, I then used a brayer to apply VersaMark Ink to the raised surface of my background, and sprinkled it with the Seedless Preserves Distress Glaze powder. Despite my best attempts to stay only on the surface, some embossing ink still made it's way onto some of the bottom sunrays so I used a small angled paint brush to remove as many of the stray bits of powder as possible. If you look closely I didn't achieve complete perfection, but I think I came pretty close and I was really pleased with the cool look this technique created, even if a bit more distressed than my typical style.

My second card pairs the dogs with Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps with the pumpkins, spiders, and spider webs from the Too Cute To Spook Stamps. I created a mini slimline measuring approximately 6.75" wide x 3.75" high by shortening the Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies by running each die through my die-cutting machine twice. I inked my stitched mat using Mermaid Lagoon and Uncharted Mariner distress inks. I finished my card by heat-embossing a punny sentiment from the Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps.

Happy Howl-o-ween Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today with a sweet and cute Halloween card featuring the adorable Happy Howl-o-ween set. 

I stamped the images from the Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I also used the paw print stamp from the set and some Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink to add some color to the panel. I colored the images with Copic markers and highlighted them with a white gel pen.

I used the largest die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies to die cut the panel. I adhered it to a piece of patterned paper (4" x 5.25") from the Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones 6 x 6 Paper before adhering to a piece of black cardstock (4.25" x 5.5"). Finally, I adhered the panels to a white A2 cardbase (4.25" x 5.5").

For the sentiment, I stamped the Happy Howl-o-ween sentiment from the set with Versamark Watermark ink onto a piece of black cardstock and heat embossed with Detail White Embossing Powder. I used a paper trimmer to cut it out. I adhered the sentiment to the panel with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest.

Autumn Greenery & Pumpkin Patch Fall Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share a couple of cards featuring the beautiful leaf images from the Autumn Greenery Dies.

For my first card showcasing the Autumn Greenery Dies, I die-cut the two oak leaves and acorn from white cardstock and colored them in warm fall hues of distress inks. I paired them with the larger acorn from the Basic Mini Shape 5 Dies and the Tree Branch Die, cut from woodgrain textured cardstock. For the bottom portion of my card, I added a trio of layered pumpkins also cut from white cardstock using our Pumpkin Patch Dies, inking them with Carved Pumpkin, Spice Marmalade & Rusty Hinge distress inks. I mounted them all onto a pierced background using our Dotted Diamond Portrait Die. For my greeting, I used a sentiment from the Bountiful Autumn Stamps, and fussy cut the word "thankful" with my scissors. Lastly, I added highlights and shine to the acorns and pumpkins with a white gel pen.

For my second card using the Autumn Greenery Dies, I used the Maple leaf from the set as filler inside my Wood Barrel to embellish around the two birdhouses from our Build-a-Birdhouse Dies. Again, I started by die-cutting the leaves from white cardstock and inking them with shades of orange, red, and deep maroon to add interest. I thought a pretty teal blue and aqua would offset the red and orange leaves nicely, so I cut my birdhouses and birds from ivory, red, and teal cardstock. I cut the base of my barrel from kraft cardstock and the metal bands from metallic silver cardstock. The Wood Barrell Die was designed to allow you to slip strips of scratch paper between the slats to ink up one side of the slat to add shadows and dimension. Every time I play with them, I fall in love with them all over again!

To frame my little scene, I used the outer zig-zag edge of the Frilly Frames Chevron Dies, layered over a teal diagonal grid print from the Gingham Jewel Tones Paper pack. I completed my card by stamping a greeting from the Little Birdie Stamps onto the Brilliant Banner 3 Dies, which I had cut from a pale aqua color cardstock and then inked up in an ombre from light to dark to match the paper and other elements. This card felt a bit up in the air when I was in the midst of trying to choose a color scheme. However, I am utterly smitten with how all the elements came together in the end. This would be a fun card design to reimagine for all four seasons.
