Sneak Peek: Kiddie Pool Stamps, Swimming Pool Dies & Wonky Windows

Hello and welcome to day 2 of our Sneak Peek Week!  Each morning this week I am showcasing cards using our newest Summer collection which will be available to purchase on April 22nd.

Today I am sharing ideas using our newest Kiddie Pool Stamps, Swimming Pool Dies and Wonky Window Dies. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Card No. 1: When I was designing these Kiddie Pool Stamps, this card design kept running through my head. I loved the idea of lining up three colorful inflatable pools side-by-side for a mini slimline style card. To frame my long, skinny scene I added striped patterned paper strips along both the top and bottom from our Spring Sunburst Paper pack. I then cut three layers of grassy borders using the border die from our Picket Fence Dies, sandwiching in my girl sitting in her lawn chair together with the pools and various splashing kiddos from the Kiddie Pool Stamps. I completed my card with a birthday sentiment from the set, heat embossed in white onto a black pennant strip.

Card No. 2: For my next card I paired the lawn chairs, sentiment and inflatable pool from the Kiddie Pool Stamps with the sitting bears from our Critters on the Go Stamps and the Flamingo Floating, bear, sunglasses and beach bag from our Beach Buddies Stamps. To make my bear on the flamingo floating look like he was actually in the pool and not just tacked on top, I used the small wave die that comes with our new Swimming Pool Dies. It's such a small touch that I think goes a long way to help sell the scene.

For my tree with rolling hills in the background, I turned to our Country Scenes Stamps, inking up the bottom half of my scene using Mowed Lawn Distress ink together with a mask and coloring the top portion of the scene using Copic Markers. I then stamped the tufts of grass from our Barnyard Buddies Stamps to visually fill into some of the "white" space on either side of the pool before heat embossing my sentiment using VersaMark Ink and Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder.

Card No. 3: This card combines a variety of different sets to create an adorable backyard scene. For my background I started by inking my sky using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and then layered the curved fence and grass border from our Spring Scenes Stamps, coloring the outside edge around the fence with a pale blue Copic Marker to blend with my sky. I then layered a tree, with birdhouse and tire swing, flowers fro my grass and a little bird from our Seasonal Trees Stamps. I had all these images in my stash already colored and fussy cut out, but I thought it worked well with the rest of my background. Before adhering my bird I stamped my "hello sunshine" greeting right above the fence posts from our Beach Buddies Stamps using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

For the bottom portion of my scene, I started by adhering a piece of grey cardstock to represent my patio and then added my inground pool using our new Swimming Pool Dies. I cut it out three separate times; First with two coordinating shades of blue cardstocks to alternate for my pool tiles which I inked around with distress inks and then for a third blue to represent the water in my pool. Lastly I added three of the kids from our Kiddie Pool Stamps, Tucking two of their feet to look like they were sitting on the edge of the pool and dipping their feet in the water.

Card No. 4: For this card featuring the Swimming Pool Dies, I paired them with the cuties from our Sealiously Sweet Stamps. The swimming pool dies come with a tiled inground swimming pool, mini waves to tuck swimmers and beach toys between and a set of layered handrails. For my scene here I combined both the grassy borders from our Slimline Nature Border Dies and Picket Fence Dies. I added some Fluffy Cloud Dies to my sky, stamping my "hello" greeting on one of them from our Chubby Bunny Stamps.

Card No. 5: I had colored one of my stamped pool from the Kiddie Pool Stamps hot pink to look like one of those clear hot pink inflatable pools and I also had these flamingo images from our Fabulous Flamingo Stamps sitting on my desk and I kept coming back to how cute they would look wading in the pool. Once again I used the smallest wave die that comes with the Swimming Pool Dies to die-cut two openings to slide each of the the flamingo's legs into. 

To add additional pops of color to my card, I mounted a strip of yellow patterned paper to the bottom of my card base from our Polka-dot Parade Paper pack and a blue sunburst print to the top of my card from our Classic Sunburst Paper pack before building my scene over the top. For my backdrop behind my flamingos, I used the palm trees and ocean waves from our new Ocean View Stamps, masking off the waves and trees so that I could ink on some Tea Dye Distress ink to color my sand. I then added a stitched edge along the bottom of my scene using our Slimline Basic Border Dies and diecut a lacy scalloped edge cut from our Striped Silly Paper pack using our Slimline Pennant Dies. Lastly I cut a speech bubble from white cardstock using our Comic Strip Speech Bubbles Dies to add a punny greeting to from the Fabulous Flamingos set and three yellow Hearts from our Basic Mini Shape Dies 2.

Card No. 6: For this 5" square card I wanted to capture the feeling of a tropical resort with the archway to match the Swimming Pool Dies. To do this I cut two of our Stitched Arch Dies, nesting the two largest dies together and cutting them out at the same time and then used my Copic markers to create the look of curved stone for my arch. To set the scene around my archway, I used the clouds and palm trees from our Tropical Trees Backdrop Die with the grass border from our Picket Fence Dies. I was able to add interest and additional detail to my trees and grass by added flicks of color with my Copic Markers. To complete my scene I added three kids and the beach chair from our new Kiddie Pool Stamps and a "Happy Summer" greeting from our Beach Babies Stamps.

Card No. 7: Up next I have a card showcasing our new Wonky Window Dies. There are so many great ways to use these versatile dies which you will see as the week goes on, but this particular card uses all the elements from the die set, including the windows and accompanying banner dies. I filled the openings behind my "wonky windows" and cut my banner pieces using patterned papers from both our Summer Splash Paper and Polka-dot Parade Paper packs. I used three of the swimming kid images from Kiddie Pool Stamps to fill my windows. For my greeting I stamped the word "happy" from our Happy Thoughts Stamps and then spelled out the word "Summer" using our Phoebe Alphabet Stamps with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 8: For my last card of the day I thought I would do a card focusing specifically on the stitched banner dies that come with our Wonky Windows Dies, cutting them from colorful patterned paper prints from our Classic Gingham Paper and Polka-dot Parade Paper packs. I started by die-cutting the cloud print from our Summer Splash Paper pack using our Frilly Frames Quatrefoil Dies. I then arranged the banners in three tiers in rainbow order, adding a tree branch, birds and punny greeting from our Little Birdie Stamps.

Sneak Peek: Fintastic Friends, Ocean View & Tropical Trees Backdrop Die

Hello and welcome to the first day of our Sneak Peek Week!  Each morning this week I am showcasing cards using our newest Summer collection which will be available to purchase on April 22nd.

Today I am sharing ideas using our new Fintastic Friends Stamps, Ocean View Stamps and Tropical Trees Backdrop Die. Let's dive right in (pun intended). ;)

Card No. 1: My first card showcases several of the adorable new ocean critters from our Fintastic Friends stamps paired with 1-1/2 of the ocean floor coral borders from our Tropical Scenes Stamps. I had already stamped and die-cut the borders prior to deciding to combine them on a slimline style card so I tried my best to hide my seam with my Copic Marker coloring and an extra sea anemone layered over the top from our Best Fishes Stamps (along with the use of a pufferfish from that set to go with the new pufferfish from Fintastic Friends).

I inked up my water background with a gradient using Peacock Feathers distress ink and then heat embossed my punny greeting from Fintastic Friends onto a stitched strip using our Slimline Pennant Dies. As a last touch, I added the seashell and crab from our new Ocean View Stamps and a number of bubbles from Fintastic Friends which were topped with Ranger Glossy Accents for a touch of realism. 

Card No. 2: Up next is a bright and happy grid style card featuring the Fintastic Friends Stamps, together with our new stitched Wonky Windows Dies which I will be sharing more of tomorrow. To start this card I created my own tone-on-tone "patterned paper" by repeatedly stamping the various bubbles from the stamp set using navy blue ink. For my stitched rectangles I inked them up in alternating shades of Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers distress inks and then splattered them with water to lift some of the ink and give the look of bubbles. I purposefully colored my sea creatures with Copics markers using a pink, orange and yellow palette to create a cohesive color scheme. For my sentiment I stamped my greeting using Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder. I love that my sentiment was able to break apart to fit on the three individual panels. Finally I added some Studio Katia Tiny Iridescent Bubbles to fill in some of the open spaces and add a little sparkle to my card.

Card No. 3: Next up, I have another slimline style card, this time pairing the three sharks (and two crabs) from our Fintastic Friends Stamps, Best Fishes Stamps and Sea You Soon Stamps with the coral, plant and crab images from our new Ocean View Stamps. 

For my background, I started by inking up my white cardstock with Broken China Distress Ink, before using Studio Katia's Underwater Sun Rays Stencil with Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon Distress Inks over the top. The delicate nature of the stencil made it difficult to keep the stencil rays from wiggling during inking, however in the end I think the soft edges added to the real look of the sunrays and I am in love with the results. 

I die-cut a stitched pennant from yellow cardstock using our Stitched Rectangle Dies, inking up the bottom edge with some Wild Honey Distress Ink and stamping a punny greeting from the Best Fishes set using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Lastly, just like my first card, I stamped some bubbles from Fintastic Friends and topped them with Ranger Glossy Accents.

Card No. 4: Switching gears, I have a card featuring the fun beach border scene from our new Ocean View Stamps. The border includes two palm trees on the left, the ocean waves and shore in the middle and a beach chair and umbrella on the left. The Ocean View set also included another small individual palm tree which I tucked behind the umbrella in my card. For my background I inked up my white cardstock panel, blending Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. The Ocean View dies only die-cut along the top of the scene, giving you the flexibility to seamlessly place it at any height on your card without having a strange "seam" and divider around all the objects in the scene. For this reason I chose to color my sand using Copic Markers for this particular card.

Building out the rest of my scene, I used the extra beach chair and two kids from our new Kiddie Pool Stamps which I will be sharing more of tomorrow. I also paired the girl sitting on the floatie with the sand bucket, shovel and beach ball from our Beach Babies Stamps. For my greeting I used a sentiment from our Beach Buddies Stamps and filled the awkward imbalance in my background with some white flying seagulls die-cut from our new Tropical Trees Backdrop Dies.

Card No. 5: I have another underwater scene pairing the swimming girl from our new Kiddie Pool Stamps, together with the new fish, seahorse, shells and plants from Fintastic Friends Stamps and the coral and plants from the Ocean View Stamps. To cut my waves along the top, I used our Stitched Scalloped Dies and stamped bubbles in the background using our Best Fishes Stamps. Finally I stamped a cute punny greeting from the Fintastic Friends set and framed my entire scene using the stitched border from our new Tropical Trees Backdrop Dies.

Card No. 6: For this beach scene style card I once again used the border from our new Ocean View Stamps, but this time I used it on a card with a vertical, portrait orientation and cut off the beach chair on the right, covering the remaining chair leg with two of the small palm trees. For my background I used the yellow sunburst patterned paper from our Classic Sunburst Paper pack and topped it with a sun cut using our Stitched Circle Large Dies.  

To build out my scene, I added both girls and the greeting from our Coastal Cuties Stamps with the girl, sandcastle and beach ball from our Beach Babies Stamps. This time for my sand, I actually stamped the border scene onto a piece of masking material and fussy cut it out along the bottom edge so I could lay it over my scene and ink up the large sandy portion of my card using Tea Dye Distress Ink. I then used a coordinating Copic marker to add shadows beneath each of my figures.

Card No. 7: For this card I relied almost entirely on the use of our new Tropical Trees Backdrop die for a pretty beach scene at sunset with palm trees silhouettes. This die comes with a stitched frame, rocky slope, three palm trees, four unique clouds and a flying seagull. For my sunset background I blended Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin and Wild Honey Distress inks. I then repeated those colors for my water, keeping the center more yellow in tone, working out towards the purple on the far, outside edges and adding water ripple details with my Copic Marker. For my sun I used our Stitched Circle Small Dies which I inked up with Mustard Seed and Wild Honey Distress inks before stamping my sentiment from the Beach Buddies Stamps with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 8: For my last card I used that same Tropical Trees Backdrop die in daylight scene, cutting the a second set of tree tops from green to layer over the top of my brown cardstock base and adding details to my trunk and palms using Copic Markers. This time I added a piece of kraft cardstock cut with our Slimline Nature Border Dies for my sand and a bride & groom couple and greeting from our new Wedded Bliss Stamps being fully shared on Thursday. To add a little extra detail to my sandy beach I used the specs of sand images included with our new Ocean View Stamps.
