Guest Designer Spotlight: Winter Themed Cards with Leanne West

Hi everyone! Leanne West here with you today and for my last guest post of the year I’m sharing three projects that are very die-cut dominant. In fact only the sentiments are stamped. I put some the newest stand alone dies and Holiday Cheer paper pack to good use so let’s get started.

First up is a decorative tag. I always like to dress up little gifts such as this fun cocoa mix and marshmallow filled cone. I used the Build-A-Tag #1 dies (with rounded tops) to create two tags that I layered together slightly askew. I decorated the tag with the mug and mittens which are from the Warm & Cozy die set. I die cut the mug from kraft card stock. To lighten the kraft color, I sponged on some white pigment ink over mug.  

All pattern paper for my tags is from the Holiday Cheer paper pack except for the mittens.  The blue gingham paper I used for the mittens is from the Classic Gingham paper pack. I die cut a little banner for the sentiment. This die comes from the Fancy Frames Rectangle die set. I white heat embossed the sentiment which is from the Mug Hugs stamp set. I punched a hole in the sentiment banner and tied it plus the layered tags to the top of the cocoa mix cone with baker’s twine.  

For my second project I made a quick and easy shaped card using the Sweater Vest dies. I think this type of card will be perfect to enclose a gift card to the recipient’s favorite clothing store. Again I used pattern paper from the Holiday Cheer paper pack and some plain card stock for the white trim. That argyle works perfectly to adorn the front of the sweater and serves as ground for the sentiment. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment which is from the Alpaca Holiday stamp set.  

For my final project today I wanted to create a colorful holiday card using the adorable stocking hat in the Warm & Cozy die set. I started with a card base that measures 4 inches wide by 8.5 inches long. I cut a panel of light blue card stock that’s just a half inch narrower than the width of the card. I die cut a decorative border with one of the Stitched Scalloped dies and the multi color stripe pattern from the Holiday Cheer paper pack.  

I die cut all the components for the stocking hat to create five hats in different colors. I die cut the pom pom and trim out of white card stock and then sponged on a coordinating ink to make four of the hats monochromatic. I wanted the fifth hat to stand out so I used the same stripe as the border and added some die cut holly.  

I added a stamped and die cut sentiment. The stamped part of the sentiment is from the Festive Greetings stamp set which I white heat embossed on a thin strip of pink card stock.  From the same pink card stock I die cut letters using the Loopy Letters alphabet dies to spell out “warm & cozy”. Lastly I die cut several tiny snowflakes to embellish the top half of the card.

Build-A-Tag Handmade With Love Holiday Gift Tags with Lexa

Hello everyone! Lexa here with some gift tags that will be perfect for Christmas. I'm using Build-A-Tag #2 Dies for this project and pairing it with older stamp sets. Since I will bake some treats for my relatives, I picked Blissful Baking Stamps that is a perfect match. Let's get started right away.

First of all, I die cut the base tags on kraft cardstock and stamped some kitchen utensils randomly with tone on tone dye ink. It makes my theme keep on track. Next will be stamp all the images with Versafine black ink and watercolor them with Distress Markers. The sweet little angles are from Little Angels Stamps and others are from Blissful Baking Stamps.

Adding some gingham patterned papers on top of the tags in pastel colors seemed like a good idea. I stamped the sentiment "handmade with love" from the older Christmas Icons Stamps that has a lot of perfect sentiments for your gift tags. You will need that one for sure!

I fussy cut the cookies and use coordinating dies for other images. I use foam tapes to adhere the little angels to give a little bit of dimensions. Last but not least, I add some ribbons and twines. These sweet little tags will be a thoughtful touch for the sweet treats I'll be baking pretty soon! I hope everyone will love it. Here's a closer look.

Eskimo Kisses Slim Sized Winter Themed Holiday Card with Vanessa

Hello everyone! Vanessa here today with a slim-sized card using Eskimo Kisses. These longer cards make great backgrounds for fun scenes, providing enough space for the cute images. Mine is about 4 1/4 x 8 1/4.

I started with my white card base and masked off snow hills. Then I applied various red Distress Oxides with an ink blending tool to create my sky and removed the masks.

Now I stamped all the adorable images from various sets, including Eskimo Kisses, Playful Polar Bears, Polar Playmates, Gleeful Reindeer, Happy Owlidays. I colored them with Copics, die-cut everything with the matching dies and adhered the elements to the card. Finally, I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment onto a strip of red cardstock, trimmed it and adhered it.

These winter scenes make me happy, I need to create more like them! I hope your day is wonderful, see you next week!

Stitched Felt Santa's Stocking with Eloise

Hello friends, Eloise here and today I have a stitched felt stocking to share with you all using the Santa's Stocking die set. 

To start off my stocking today I die cut two stockings and the bow from red felt, the top, heel and toe piece from white felt and the holly leaves from green felt. I then used some white thread and stitched through the sides of the stocking, leaving the top piece open.

A tip here is to pierce the holes with a paper piercer first, so it's easier to stitch though two layers of felt.

Now that my stocking is stitched, I went ahead and adhered my white pieces into place with glue. I then pierced through another hole at the top of the stocking for the twine. I threaded it through and tied it in a knot. 

Lastly, I added the holly leaves and bow on the top for added interest. Now the stocking is complete and perfect for adding in any small gifts.

Christmas Trimmings Layered Wreath Christmas Card with Juliana

Happy Holidays friends! It's Juliana Michaels and today I'm here to share a Christmas wreath card created using the beautiful new layering stamp set called Christmas Trimmings.

To begin, stamp the various holly and berry images from the Christmas Trimmings stamp set onto white cardstock using your favorite green and red inks. For my card I used Scrapbook.com's new Hybrid Inks in Cardinal Red, Havana Red, Carnival Pink, Olive, Succulent and Guacamole. I then die cut them using the coordinating dies.

The background was creating by embossing a piece of kraft cardstock using the Dapper Diamonds embossing folder. I then adhered the holly and berry images in the shape of a circle on the front of the embossed paper. Feel free to use 3D foam tape to give some of the pieces a bit of dimension. You can then finish off the wreath by adding a red ribbon bow.

For the sentiment, I stamped Merry Christmas from the Christmas Trimmings stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock with Versamark Embossing Ink. I then sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and heat set it. Use double sided foam tape to adhere the deer and to add some depth and dimension to the scene.
