Sneak Peek Week: Introducing Party Pups & Devoted Doggies

Hello there!  Welcome to day 3 of sneak peeks.  We're officially half way through our new products coming out on Friday.  I hope you've enjoyed everything so far.  Today I have two new Dog themed stamp sets and their coordinating dies to share!

Up first is a fun card combining our new 4x6 Party Pups and 3x4 Devoted Doggies sets with our previously shared Window Trio Circle dies and new 6x6 Paper Packs.

I am a huge fan of tone-on-tone papers so I'm completely smitten with the simple diagonal grid pattern found in our new Classic Gingham paper pack.  They also match so well with the patterns in our Rainbow Bright paper set like the one used here.  I can't wait to start using these papers more!  

I really love the look of having the balloons pop out beyond the circles.  Before adhering them to my card front, I figured out my general placement and then drew lines with a ruler and my 0.1 Copic Multiliner pen.  Isn't that dog bone cake so fun?!

Up next I used that same combo of products, this time turning my card on the vertical and die-cutting a second row of the Window Trio Circle dies. My paper is from the same pack, this time using the reverse side for the fun gingham prints.  For my sentiment I heat embossed it onto black cardstock which had been die-cut using the banner from our Little Angels dies.

I love that these little dogs don't have to be used just for birthday cards!  For the most part the hats and accessories come separate so you can create everyday cards with them too (except for the fact that I couldn't resist adding a hat on my dog in the end after all).  

My stamped background was inspired by a card my daughter made for her friend.  I think many of the dogs would work well with this style of repeat stamping, but I was so excited to realize they fit together perfectly like a puzzle!

My next card highlights Devoted Doggies exclusively.  I blended distress oxide inks for my background and then stamped the little paw print from the set which was heat embossed with a clear iridescent pearl powder. I completely lucked out when I discovered that Offray's Sunburst Rainbow ribbon was a perfect match!

For my sentiment I die-cut a stitched label using our new Sunny Studio website exclusive Fancy Frames Rectangle dies together with Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles.  This sentiment can be used a couple different ways-For example, the word "ruff" can also be rearranged to say "I ruff you".  :)

Up next is one of my favorites... Seeing all those doggies from the two sets peeking around our Fancy Frames Rectangle Dies makes me smile every time!  In this case, I fussy cut my dogs out, but I think it would also work well if you wanted to stamp the dogs onto a large piece of cardstock, create a mask for inking and then crop it down.  My blue sky was sponged on using tumbled glass distress ink and my favorite Jumbo dauber.  For my card background, I repeatedly stamped the bone on the diagonal from the Devoted Doggies set onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and then lightly sponged that same ink around the edges for extra definition between the layers.

For this card I had a blast creating my colorful striped background using the Versafine Clair inks and our new Background Basics stamps which will be fully unveiled in tomorrow's post.  Because I wanted to line up each striped panel so they seamlessly connected together, I lost about 1/4" in length as I moved my strips up or down to match.  

To solve the issue of my card panel not quite covering an A2 card, I created a fun candle border to bridge the gap using the single candle stamp from the Party Pups set.  I colored in a circular motion outside the lines, over each flame, using a lighter yellow copic marker to give the appearance my candles are glowing and then colored the candles and balloons to match my background. 

My last card of the day was made special for my sister and her sweet fur babies, Maggie, Lucy & Layla. For my shaker I used some of my favorite rainbow confetti by Studio Katia and patterned paper from Echo Park's Hello Easter & Celebrate Easter collections.

Sneak Peek Week: Critter Campout, Happy Camper & Cascading Stars

Hello there!  Today is day two of our countdown to our new release on Friday and I'm thrilled to be sharing sneak peeks of three new stamp sets and their coordinating dies!  

Up first is a card featuring a fun new 4x6 stamp set called Critter Campout, along with the new Hello Word die and a stitched pennant from our newest website exclusive Fancy Frames Rectangle Dies.  

To create my background, I started by inking up the bottom of my card panel near the horizon with Fossilized Amber distress ink.  I then lightly faded it into Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire inks.  I  started by tracing a faint pencil line just below where my ground would before stamping my tree silhouettes with VersaFine Black Onyx Ink.  

When I was certain my inky background had dried I stamped my starry sky using our newest 3x4 background stamp called Cascading Stars, which was first heat embossed with gold powder and then again with translucent Wow! glow-in-the-dark powder.  To continue the fun effect I colored over my campfire with a clear VersaMarker pen before heat embossing over it with more glow-in-the dark powder. I love that it is a hidden surprise, making this card look great both day or night.

Up next is a card featuring a scene contained within a circular window.  I heat embossed the cascading star background using Ranger's buttercup embossing powder to match my banner stamped with our Sunny Borders set.  When I was done the card felt like it was missing something so I used my new favorite Sharpie white extra fine paint pen with a clear ruler to add a dashed line around the border of my card.  I love how it pops against the black cardstock and frames my card!

For this card I thought it would be fun to cut a section out of my card front and fill the opening with a panel inked up with mermaid lagoon distress ink and heat embossed the cascading stars using Hero Arts brass embossing powder (which to my eye is a beautiful gold).  ;)  I had so much fun coloring the little critters to gather around the campfire!  

My sentiment was heat embossed with white powder, but when I was done, I was regretting that I didn't move it further to the right.  To solve this problem I used our mini heart trio freebie die from our spring release to fill in some of the space and I love the results!  Just goes to prove that there is no such thing as mistakes in crafting--just opportunities to embellish.  ;)

This particular card was created for a local store challenge I participate in where they provide a piece of paper and a couple small embellishments and we must use a little bit of everything we are given to create a card that they then share the following month.  For this challenge in honor of St. Patrick's Day, we received a small strip of gold glitter cardstock, a 6x6 piece of BoBunny green polka-dot paper and the green baker's twine.   

The green paper was double-sided so I thought it would be fun to use the solid side to paper-piece my tent to match the polka-dot border around my card. Luckily I had other BoBunny paper in my stash so I was able to paper piece my little bear to match.  The paper-pieced images were feeling a little flat to me so I did some super quick shading with a copic marker.  I love how easy it was and the dimension it adds!  To complete my card, I die-cut the gold glitter cardstock into stars using the mini star freebie die from our Fall release last year and heat embossed my sentiment in gold to tie them together.

Up next we have another new stamp set to introduce called Happy Camper.  It's a sweet mini 2x3 set with the retro trailer and two coordinating sentiments.  It nicely compliments our Critter Campout set or can be used all on it's own.  For this card I paired it with the car from our City Streets set and a red & black checkered print created using our new Background Basics set we'll be sharing more peeks of later this week.  The trees die-cut from black cardstock are a bonus die that makes use of the open space for the Happy Camper die.  I love the way the colors work with each other!  

While the previous card was more masculine, I thought it would be fun to go soft & pretty for my next card with a "glamping" feel.  To create my backdrop, I masked off my ground with masking material and inked it up with a very light application of black soot distress ink.  I then use our Wavy Border dies to cut another mask for my hills, using one side for the cracked pistachio hills, and the other side for spun sugar sky.  I didn't want to add an additional color to my color palette so I stamped my trees using Colorbox Seattle Sky ink.

For my stitched scallop frame I used our newest sunny studio website exclusive Fancy Frames Rectangle dies and my polka-dot background was stamped using our new Background Basics set (both will be shared more later this week).

Before I go, I thought it would be fun to share a completely different way to use our new Cascading Star stamps.  Sadly it was very hard to get a good photo of this card with the way the glitter caught the light, but I promise it's really cool in person.  ;)  I started by inking up my card panel by fading candy apple distress ink from the top towards the center and Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch distress inks from the bottom.  I then used my Misti to stamp the stars in coordinating colors.  A stamp positioning tool is especially handy when stamping in two separate colors.

When my panel was dry, I then inked the entire surface using clear Versamark Ink and sprinkled the surface with clear iridescent embossing powder.  It created a stunning glittery finish perfect for a star spangled card! For my stars, I repeated the process on some scratch cardstock and die-cut stars using our new Window Trio Square Dies and the bonus star from our Fancy Frames Square Dies.  The sentiment was stamped using a phrase from our Stars & Stripes Stamps, colored with Copics and then die-cut using the oval label from our new Sunny Studio website exclusive Fancy Frames Oval Dies.

Sneak Peek Week: Introducing Beach Babies & Window Trio Dies

Hello there!  I have been working around the clock for months on our summer release so I am literally dying with excitement to finally share all the new things coming to Sunny Studio on Friday!  Today I'm kicking things off with four new products in our line-up (available for purchase on April 6).

Up first is a card using our new Beach Babies stamps which come full of so many fun images perfect for summer!  I started by die-cutting a circle from masking paper and using the negative space mask off my card panel to stamp and color my images.  I then used Copic W1 and W0 markers to define the edge and give it a bit of a bubble appearance.  

I finished off the card by die-cutting 4 of the new Hello Word die from white cardstock and then glued them together using a glue pen and colored the top layer with a coordinating Copic marker.  I finished the second half of the sentiment by stamping a word from the stamp set.

For my next card I used our new Window Trio Circle Dies together with the Beach Babies stamps to create a quick and easy card.  A sentiment stamped on the banner from our Little Angels set was the perfect finishing touch.

I had so much fun mixing techniques for this fun beach scene.  I started by creating several masks using the beach umbrella to create a colorful border.  I then masked them all off, along with the top third of the card to sponge on some antique linen distress ink for my sandy beach.  To add interest to my beach, I took my Copic Markers in E30, E31 & E33 to stipple the texture of the sand.  

For ocean waves, I moved the masking material to the sand side of the horizon and inked the top portion of my card using a light application of tumbled glass distress ink.  I die-cut another mask using our Wavy Border dies and rotated and moved them around as I inked on additional layers of tumbled glass distress ink.  As a final finishing touch I used an old toothbrush to pounce on some of Aleene's True Snow to give the look of frothy waves.

Up next is a grid-style card using our Window Trio Square dies.  This time I used the dies on the vertical and cut them twice from the same card panel to form my fun grid design.  

This card also debuts something I'm extremely excited to finally share: Patterned paper!  With this release Sunny Studio is introducing 4 bright and happy paper packs!!!  I'm a huge fan of tone-on-tone papers to add subtle interest to my projects without competing with my focal point images and these papers totally fit the bill.  I hope you fall in love with them as much as I have.  ;)

For my next card I created a little beach scene enclosed in an oval frame using our newest Sunny Studio website exclusive which I will be sharing more of as the week progresses.  The polka-dot background also shows a sneak peek of another set that will be debuting more later this week.  ;)

To form my waves to tuck my kids between, I cut borders using our Stitched Scallop Border Dies and inked on tumbled glass distress ink, fading it towards the top of each wave.  

The trees on the beach in the background were created with a single stamp image which I used together with a stamp positioning tool.  I started by stamping the palms with Colorbox Artichoke Ink and then inked up just the trunk portion with the edge of my VersaFine Clair Acorn ink pad and stamped it again. It was so easy and I love the little detail it adds!

For my last card of the day I created another grid design, this time turning it on the horizontal using the Window Trio Circle Dies.  Rather than using them as windows like I did on the first two cards, I simply backed them with patterned paper from our new Classic Gingham Paper Pack for a fun graphic look.  I love how a small strip of paper from our new Rainbow Bright Paper Pack ties all my colors together.

The Beach Babies stamps come with a little pair of sunglasses that can fit onto all the cute kids.  I fussy cut these out as a last minute addition, but I think they would be really fun used together with masking to look like they were part of the original image.
