We're so excited to welcome Jennifer McGuire to the blog today as our special guest. She has some gorgeous cards that you are going to just love!
For today's card she's sharing techniques using masking to create clean, crisp images with colorful backgrounds and a bit of texture using our Pretty Pumpkins & Autumn Greetings sets.
You can view Jennifer's video below (or in HD at our YouTube channel HERE).
To start, Jennifer stamped her layered images in the center of her card. Next, she used an embossing pad along with two circle dies to make an impression around her focal point image.
She then used the coordinating die with masking material to mask off her pumpkin and the the outside of the circle, leaving the negative space to ink with twisted citron and pealed paint distress oxide inks. When she was done she added some sparkle to the stem and pumpkin shadows using Wink of Stella's clear glitter pen. Little touches like that go such a long way to really make your images pop.
For her pumpkins today Jennifer stamped them using the following ink combinations:
Up next, we have a similar card, this time adding a little broken china ink to the top portion of the circle.
For all her envelopes, she paired a matching green envelope with a simple stamped sentiment using our Autumn Greetings stamps.
For Jennifer's third Pumpkin themed card, she took her masking up a step and layered three pumpkin images starting with stamping the smallest pumpkin in the front and then using masks with the coordinating dies to work her way to the biggest pumpkin in the back.
For her background she cut a frame using Hero Art's Nesting Postage Stamps Infinity Dies and inked the center with antique linen distress oxide ink.
Here's another look at all three cards using this fun technique...
As a little bonus, Jennifer used the same double masking technique for a sweet card with our Pet Sympathy set.
She started by stamping and coloring the dog, then covered it with a mask cut using the coordinating die and then used a second mask of post it tape to ink up the ground and wall behind the pup using peeled paint and broken china distress oxide inks.
When she was done, she added nuvo drops to the nose and eyes and glossy accents to the heart for a bit of shine.
Thank you Jennifer for sharing your talents with us and for your sweet support of our little company. You are a treasure and we love you lots!
