Radiating Circles Die Focused Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today and I have a circle-shaped easel card to share with you featuring these adorable Penguin Pair penguins and the Radiating Circles Dies set. Have you ever made an easel card? I have a super easy easel card technique to share with you today that requires no special dies. So, let’s get started.

I stamped the penguin image from the Penguin Pair Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the coordinating Penguin Pair Dies to die cut them out. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:
Penguins: T3/4/5/6/7, W00/0/1, R000/20, Y38 YR04

To create the easel card, I stared with a piece of pink cardstock (4.25” x 8.5”) that I scored and folded in half to create a 4.25” square note card. I secured the largest die from the Radiating Circles Dies set on top of the note card just slightly beyond the fold line so as to die cut through both layers of cardstock while maintaining the fold line for a hinge for my card base. I ran the die and note card through my die cutting machine. NOTE: it may be necessary to run it through multiple times since you are cutting through two layers of cardstock. Next, I used a score board to scored a line (parallel to the fold line or hinge) at the 2” mark on the front flap of the card base. I folded along the score line. You now have your easel card base. Super easy, right? This technique can be easily used for just about any shape of card.

For my card today, I used the same largest die from the Radiating Circles Dies set to die cut another circle out of darker pink cardstock. I also used the second largest circle die from the set to die cut a circle out of white cardstock. I lightly ink blended some Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink to the center of the white circle.

I positioned my colored penguins onto the white circle and adhered the upper two penguins slightly hanging off of the edge of the circle. I found it easiest to flip the white circle to view the backside as I used a sharp pair of scissors to cut off the excess portion of those two penguins.

For the sentiments on the front of the card, I stamped the “Hi” from the Vintage Valentine Stamp set directly onto the white circle with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped the “Hello” from the Tulip Path Background Stamp set onto a piece of of white cardstock with the same black ink. I used the coordinating Tulip Path Background Dies to die cut it out. I adhered the last penguin and the Hello sentiment to the white circle with foam tape for some dimension and interest.

I adhered the white circle to the larger darker pink circle. Then I adhered the darker pink circle card front panel to the easel card base. NOTE: I found that the easiest method was to add adhesive to the bottom half of the front flap of the card base. This way, you won’t accidentally adhere the card front panel to the upper half of the easel card base and thus hinder the easel card mechanism. When adhered properly, only the bottom half of the darker pink card front panel should be attached to the card base.

Next, I used the smallest of the 3 large heart dies from the Stitched Heart 2 Dies to die cut two small white hearts. I stamped the “You make my heart smile!” sentiment from the Vintage Valentine Stamp set onto one of the hearts with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. Adhered the two white hearts to each other to give it a little bulk before I adhered the hearts to the inside of the easel card base. This served as both the sentiment and the stopper for my easel card. Lastly, I finished the card with a few pink hearts die cut from the Stitched Heart 2 Dies set.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card and will give this super easy easel card technique a try. For more info and ideas, be sure to visit the Sunny Studio Stamps Shop. Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations.
