Scenic Route Card with Amanda

Hey crafty friends!  It’s Amanda here, and we are officially TWO days away from Christmas. How did that happen?! Today I’m sharing a shaker card I created with a fun, snowy winter scene.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Scenic Route Winter Holiday Shaker Card by Amanda Fitterer (featuring Snowmen In Sweaters, Penguin Party)

I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5.25”. For the sky, I ink blended Catherine Pooler’s Clay Mask and Polished inks, keeping the lighter color in the center and blending darker toward the edges for a soft glow effect. Next, I trimmed another piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5.25” and stamped the Scenic Route Stamps background scene with black ink. Using the coordinating die set, I die cut the hills and trees, then colored them in with Copic markers. I used YG shades for the grass and G shades for the trees.

I then stamped images from the Snowmen in Sweaters and Penguin Party stamp sets and colored those with Copics as well. Once everything was colored, I trimmed the images out using the coordinating dies. For the sentiment, I stamped the words onto black cardstock using my WOW embossing pad, sprinkled on white embossing powder, and heat set it until smooth and shiny. I trimmed the sentiments into strips and added banner ends with my scissors.

Now it was time to bring the scene together! I glued the hilly background onto the sky panel, then used 3D foam squares and strips to pop up the sentiments and stamped images. To add snow, I grabbed a dotting tool with a small ball tip and dotted white acrylic paint across the scene for that snowy finishing touch.

While the paint dried, I prepped my shaker elements using small white balls, Birthday Cake Dot Sprinkles, and a full-panel shaker pouch. I added double-sided tape around the edges of the pouch, poured in my shaker elements, placed the card panel on top, and sealed it all up. Finally, I used glue to attach the shaker panel to an A2 card base .. and just like that, this festive shaker card was complete!

I love how this card came together with all the little details and movement! It’s such a fun way to bring a winter scene to life. Shaker cards always feel extra magical this time of year, and this one was such a joy to create. Thanks so much for crafting along with me, and I hope you’re soaking up these last sweet moments before Christmas!
