Designer's Choice Cards with Catherine and Bobbi

Hello Friends! Catherine here, sharing my last card for the Summer Term. As I have recently moved countries, I will be spending time to settle in. It has been a great pleasure to be part of the amazing Design Team at Sunny Studio Stamps!

For my last card, I wanted to keep summer memories alive so I created a “Happy Summer” card featuring our Wonky Windows Dies for the airplane, Ocean View border for the summer scene along with a few friends for the airplane passengers.

To start, I die cut white card stock sized 4.2” x 5.5” with Wonky Windows Dies, I then ink blended some stripes across the windows with red and blue ink.  I carefully placed a cloud stencil made with Fluffy Cloud Border above and below the windows and ink blended with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I covered the window area and lightly splattered a small amount of the ink with water for texture. I flipped the card over and adhered a strip of acetate for the windows.

I used the Fluffy Cloud Border and die cut a cloud border out of white cardstock. I lightly inked the cloud border with the same ink and splattered a small amount of ink with water. I then stamped the sentiment from Beach Babies with Black Ink in the middle.

I stamped the border from Ocean View and die cut with the coordinating die, Ocean View Dies. I colored the border with Copic Markers and added seashells from the same set and a starfish from Fintastic Friends.

For the cabin, I ink blended cardstock 4.25” x 5.5” with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. For the airplane seats, I used the hotdog die from Fast Food Dies. I added a few friends from Kiddie Pool and Beach Buddies and that’s it!

Life flies. Days become years and years become decades. Next thing you know, you’ve been married 50 years!  I wanted to share this idea in this “flippin” fun card. It’s Bobbi here with a card for a newly wed couple or a pair celebrating an anniversary. 

This card will work for either. I’m using the following Sunny Studio products:

Wedded Bliss stamp set and coordinating dies

Passionate Penguins stamp set and coordinating dies

Heart Bouquet stamp set and coordinating dies

Inside Greetings Sentiments Congrats

Scalloped Oval Mat dies

Bursting Hearts Die

To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I cut the following pieces from white cardstock. I used a lighter, 80lb cardstock for the pages that flip, to keep it less bulky when stacked. The card base (A7-sized full piece in the back) is made from 100lb cardstock for stability.

White Cardstock pieces:
3-1/4″ wide X 3-1/2″ long, scored 1/2″ from the top (80lb)
3-1/4″ wide X 4″ long, scored 1/2″ from the top (80lb)
3-1/4″ wide X 4-1/2″ long, scored 1/2″ from the top (80lb)
3-1/4″ wide X 5″ long, scored 1/2″ from the top (80lb)
5″ wide X 7″ long (100lb)

I stamped the penguin images from the Wedded Bliss stamp set (bride and groom), the Passionate Penguins stamp set (pair in the car, kissing couple, and dancing pair) and the balloons from the Heart Bouquet stamp set and colored them using the following colors: 100, c9, c7, C5, C3, C1, YR16, R14, YG41, YG45, Y06, Y19, R00, R22, R14, R29, BG15, and BG13. 

These will be featured on each page in this order:
Page one: “first kiss”
Page two: “courting years” in the convertible bug
Page three: “happy together” with the heart balloons
Page four: “wedding day” with the happy couple

I assembled the card by adding pattern paper from the Subtle Grey Tones paper pack to the base (5″ X 6″ top piece and a 5″ X 1″ bottom strip). Next, I attached the flip pages to the base. I stacked the four pages and adhered them together  above the 1/2″ score line. I used other pattern papers as backgrounds on the pages, too. The Bursting Hearts Die, cut from a red cardstock was used as the backdrop on the front page and the Scalloped Oval Mat 2 die was used on the last page as an arch for the wedding couple.

Finally, I added a wedding sentiment from the Inside Greetings Sentiments Congrats on the last page and added the “love” die cut and a 1/8″ strip in black to the bottom to finish the card.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Baby Elephants Cards with Anja Bytyqi

Hi everyone, Anja here and I'm so honored to be back again as a guest designer. Today I'm featuring the absolutely adorable Baby Elephants Stamps. For my first card, I created a summer scene by combining two of the elephants with the Tropical Trees Backdrop Die.

First, I created an A2 landscape card base from white heavyweight cardstock. I then die cut all the pieces for my beach scene and started on working on the background. I masked off the bottom to create a horizont and stenciled the clouds with Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide Ink. The gradient ink blending for the water was done with Peacock Feathers, Salvaged Patina and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink.

Next, I colored the sand (Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap) and palm trees (Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, Frayed Burlap, Gathered Twigs, Black Soot) with Distress Oxide Inks as well. The sea gulls were die cut from light grey cardstock.

I stamped the elephants in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I cut them out with the coordinating Baby Elephants Dies. The sentiment (Inside Greetings Birthday Stamps) was stamped in VersaMark Ink onto a turquoise cardstock strip and heat embossed in white.

Finally, I assembled the scene by adhering the die cuts and images. I layered two of the white stitched frames on top of each other for a bit of dimension.

Of course, I also had to make a Baby card with the sweet elephant sleeping in the clouds.

I started off with a lilac A2 card base and picked the purple starry patterned paper from the Surprise Party 6x6 Paper Pack. I die cut it with the full-size A2 stitched rectangle die from the Frilly Frames Quatrefoil Dies set. To create a window opening, I used the second largest of the Stitched Semi-Circle Dies.

For the purple night sky background, I did some circular ink blending with Distress Oxide Inks (Villainous Potion, Wilted Violet and Milled Lavender). I used the cloudy border from the Slimline Nature Borders Dies set and cut it from white cardstock. I added Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to the top edge.

Next, I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I cut them out with their matching dies. I arranged and glued down everything behind the semi-circle window and popped up the starry patterned paper panel with foam tape.

The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark Ink onto a black cardstock fishtail banner and I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I adhered it below the elephant image to finish off my card.

Summer Greenery Die Focused Cards with Audrey and Vanessa

Hello friends! Audrey here with a fun, artsy card to share with you! I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers that I haven't used in a while for this one! 

To create this card, I started out by die cutting the leaves from the Summer Greenery die set from several different colors of green cardstock and then I inked them with various shades of green Distress ink. I decided where I wanted the focal point of my card to be and used my Zig Clean Color markers to add some drippy watercolor to that area. When it was dry, I splattered on some black watercolor leaving the bottom right of the panel white to give the eye a place to rest. 

I arranged my leaves and adhered them down with a glue pen. Then, I stamped and colored one of the cute little elephants from the Baby Elephants stamp set and die cut him with the coordinating Baby Elephants die. I popped him with up foam tape in the center of the leaf pile. 

I stamped a sentiment from the set in black ink just below the focal point. For some added interest, I added a strip of striped washi tape the bottom edge of the panel, and trimmed a tiny bit off of the top edge of the panel so that when I mounted it on a light green card base, some of the color would peek out the bottom. To finish off this card, I added some white gel pen accents and a scattering of green iridescent sequins.

Hello to you! Vanessa here with a slimline summer card using the Summer Greenery Dies with the Fabulous Flamingos.

I first die-cut the stitched panel from Kraft cardstock and adhered it to the card base. Now I inked a panel of white cardstock with Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink, die-cut the leaves from it and adhered them to the card with foam tape.

Then I stamped the images, colored them with Copics, die-cut the elements with the matching dies and adhered everything to the card, popping up the pieces with foam tape. I stamped the "summer", fussy-cut it and added it to the front. Finally, I stamped and heat-embossed the "greetings", trimmed it and adhered it to the card.
