Autumn Greetings Layered Pumpkins Card with Eloise

Hi everyone! Eloise here and today I have a fall card for you all, using the brand new Autumn Greetings and Pretty Pumpkins stamp sets. I'm also pulling in the new Quilted Hexagons set as well. I am absolutely loving this new release - Mendi has knocked it out of the ball park once again with her amazing designs. Also, this Pretty Pumpkins is the newest layering set in the collection, which I am so super excited about - since the layering sets are always so so amazing!

To begin my card today, I first clear heat embossed the large hexagon line image from the Quilted Hexagon stamp set three times at a diagonal on the bottom of my watercolour piece. Once that was heat embossed, I used some green watercolour to watercolour over top to reveal the embossing. I dried it off with a heat tool and moved on to stamping my images.

I used four different orange inks to stamp the layers of my pumpkins. I did one of each size included in the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set. I also stamped some leaves and vines also. Then before stamping the stems on the pumpkins, I die cut all my images using the coordinating dies. Once the pumpkins were die cut I used some brown inks to stamp out the stems - it's easier this way since you then know exactly where you want to stamp the stems. Once everything was stamped I could arrange my card.

I used foam tape and liquid adhesive to adhere down all my pumpkins, leaves and vines. Once they were all adhered I stamped the 'Autumn Greetings' sentiment from the Autumn Greetings stamp set out onto my background with black ink and clear heat embossed that too. To finish up my card I added fun foam to the back of my panel and adhered down my panel to some orange cardstock and then onto a white card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my card today and are enjoying the new release!

Inspiration Week: Introducing Pretty Pumpkins & Autumn Greetings

Hello!  Today's the big day!  All 8 new stamp sets and coordinating dies are now available for purchase in our online store.  Before you run off to shop though, I hope you will pull up a chair for one last "peek" of two new stamp sets for Autumn, enter our last giveaway for the week and check out a couple special offers we have this weekend.  ;)

I would love to formally introduce you to our newest layering set called Pretty Pumpkins.  The stamps come with three unique pumpkins that stamp in three separate layers, the coordinating stems, a layered leaf and three little vines.  As a companion to the Pretty Pumpkins set, we also have a gorgeous new 3x4 sentiment set for fall called Autumn Greetings.

For my first card I inked over some clouds cut from masking material using our Sunny Sentiments and Rain or Shine stamps.  I finished my card with a crisp white scalloped edge using our double stitched scallop dies.

For my next card I created a pop-up box card pairing the new stamps and dies with Lawn Fawn's adorable box card die set.  I love how the pumpkins look in a 3-D setting like this one to create the look of a pumpkin patch!

The new stamps are also perfect for creating gorgeous tags for Fall!  For these I created my tags using our Crescent Tag Topper dies and then stamped the pattern on the bottom using our Quilted Hexagon stamps shared on Tuesday HERE.  I topped them with little jute cording and a pretty grosgrain bow which I adhered with some of my favorite Beacon's 3-in-1 liquid adhesive.

For my next card I decided to go a bit more rustic, pairing the pumpkins with a piece of burlap.  To keep it from fraying too badly, I sprayed the back with 3M Spray Mount in a cardboard box and then adhered it to a piece of brown cardstock before trimming it and adhering it to another larger brown cardstock.  For my sentiment, I stamped both the sentiment and dotted line from the set with versamark ink and then heat embossed them using brown embossing powder.   I then cut the end of my sentiment strip using our Sunny Semi Circle dies before stitching around the edge on my sewing machine.

My last card for the day pairs the sentiment and leaf stamp (used for my subtle background print) from Autumn Greetings with the stamps and dies from last year's popular Autumn Splendor set.Sunny Studio Stamps: Autumn Splendor & Autumn Greetings Fall Leaves Thank You Card by Mendi Yoshikawa

Here's a full look at the new 4x6 Pretty Pumpkins and 3x4 Autumn Greetings clear stamps and coordinating dies available for purchase on Friday morning (please note: images are not shown to scale).

I have created a stamping guide to help you in layering the stamps.  When working with dye inks I have found that it is often easier to layer the the images "backwards" by starting with the smallest stamp in your darkest color and working back to the lightest overall image.  It has helped me tremendously in seeing where to line up my images.  To use the guide, the dark black outlines show where the image touches the edges of the previous stamped layer.
You can download or print your own PDF layering guide HERE.

I frequently am asked what ink colors I've used.  While I have used a variety of brands in my samples, there's a good chance you can achieve similar results with inks you probably already have in you stash.  I highly recommend stamping your inks out and creating a swatch book to aid you in choosing two or three inks that compliment each other.  These are the ones I happened to use here today from lightest to darkest:

Oranges
Hero Arts Orange Soda
Papertrey Ink Orange Zest
Stampin' Up Tangerine Tango

Greens

2021 UPDATE: While the green inks outlined above have been discontinued by Colorbox after going out of business, we have since added a variety of new inks to our store that make beautiful layered combinations for green and orange. For leaves I share a variety of good green ink color combinations with examples which you can find HERE

For orange I now would highly recommend one of these beautiful combos shared below:

True Orange Combo:
Gina K. Sweet Mango (or Hero Arts Orange Soda could also work--It's just a tad darker)
Gina K. Tangerine Twist
Gina K. Tomato Soup

Yellowish Orange Combo:
PinkFresh Apricot
PinkFresh Clementine
PinkFresh Persimmon

I hope you've enjoyed today's sneak peek.

Inspiration Week: Introducing Happy Owl-o-ween Stamps & Dies

We're only one day away from our big release day tomorrow and I don't know about you, but I'm getting super excited!  Today I'm sharing something really fun for Fall called Happy Owl-o-ween.  As you will see as you scroll through my card examples though, it's fun for so much more than Halloween.  ;)

First up is a fun trick-or-treat scene using three of the six costumes for our newest little owl. I created a sidewalk of sorts for them to perch on using some ribbon with a saddle-stitched edge. I then added some white dots to form my starry night's sky using my white Sharpie paint pen over my distress inked background.

Up next is an owl dressed up as a witch, paired together with the broom and bats from our Halloween Cuties set from last year.  After my inked-up background had completely dried, I heat embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder and my star background using Ranger's Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

For my next card I created a bright pumpkin scene, pulling pumpkins from both our Halloween Cuties and Harvest Happiness sets.  The white clouds in my background were created by die-cutting the clouds from Sunny Sentiments and Rain or Shine from masking material and then inking over the top of them using Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I then created the grass using a die from that same Sunny Sentiments set.  My last touch was a sentiment from Halloween Cuties heat embossed on a strip of paper that had been cut with our fishtail banner dies.

Up next is a card combining the horse & howdy sentiment from the new Barnyard Buddies, the banner from Birthday Smiles, the tree stump from Woodsy Creatures and the alphabet using Sweet Script.

I colored all my images using Copic Markers, heat embossed the letters to spell out "partner" using white embossing powder and then added them to my card that was sponged with Colorbox Sky dye ink and Vintage Photo distress ink.  I added some jute twine to my banner with a glue pen as a final rustic touch.

For this card I thought it would be fun to use the owl without any costumes and pair him (or her) with the owl from our Woo Hoo set and the tree branch from A Bird's Life.  I sponged on some Twisted Citron distress ink along the top and bottom before stamping the stamp tree branch off the edge using more of the distress ink.  For my sentiment I curved it on my MISTI tool to match the curve of my circular window.

My next card was shared on Monday when I was sharing peeks of our new Barnyard Buddies stamps which you can read about HERE.  I love how many of these owls can work together with other sets.  I think the pirate costume would look super cute with some of the companion images from our Pirate Pals set. I have so many ideas, but unfortunately I just ran out of time...

For my last card of the day I couldn't resist creating a fun card focusing on the fun bumblebee costume from the set.  I paired my little guy with a sentiment from our Backyard Bugs stamps and a tree branch from our Woo Hoo stamps.

The star border on this card was cut from black cardstock (and backed with yellow cardstock that had been inked along the edge with distress ink) using a free mini star trio die that will automatically ship with each order placed on our website starting on July 21st (while supplies last).
