Summery Greenery Cards with Catherine and Bobbi

Hello Friends! Catherine here, sharing a “flamazing” card using Summer Greenery Dies and the cute flamingos from Fabulous Flamingos Stamps.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Tropical Themed Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Fabulous Flamingos, Frilly Frame Dies)

To start, I die cut a piece of White Cardstock with Frilly Frames Stripes Dies. I then sprayed some Kirsch Flamingo Distress Spray onto the frame. I thought the color would match perfectly with the flamingoes in the card!

I flipped the frame over and glued on a piece of acetate. I then added foam tape onto the edges and poured Birthday Cake Dot Sprinkles and Pastel Rainbow Confetti into the frame. I removed the backing on the tape and attached a piece of White Cardstock 4.25”x 5.5.”

I then die cut the Summer Greenery Dies and ink blended some greenery with Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, and Salt Water Taffy Distress Oxide Ink. I ink blended other greenery pieces with Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Ink. I splattered some pink and blue watercolor onto the greenery for interest.

I thought it would be fun to add a drink bar for the flamingoes so I borrowed the bar from Tiki Time Stamps and colored the bar with Copic Markers. I added a “special cocktail” filled with confetti. To make the cocktail glass, I die cut three circles using the smallest circle in Stitched Circle Large Dies: one circle with White Cardstock, one circle with Acetate,  and one circle with Double Sided Foam.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Tropical Themed Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Fabulous Flamingos, Frilly Frame Dies)

I ink blended the White Cardstock circle with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and then I cut all the circles in half. For the cocktail glass, I glued the confetti from Pastel Rainbow Confetti onto one of the blue half circles. I added and glued on straws by cutting two thin strips of paper from Classic Sunburst Paper.

For the outer rim of the cocktail glass, I trimmed the other blue half into a thin curved piece to fit the outer shape of the Acetate half circle. I did the same for the Double Sided Foam half circle.  I glued the blue outer rim onto the front of the Acetate half circle. I then glued the trimmed Double Sided Foam half circle onto the back of the acetate. I removed the tape backing and attached it onto the other blue half with the confetti.

I used the lollipop die from Candy Shoppe Dies for cocktail glass stand.  I die cut the lollipop die with White Cardstock and ink blended with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I then trimmed the piece and glued it onto the back of the glass.

I stamped and die cut the flamingoes, watermelon, and pineapples from Fabulous Flamingoes Stamps and Fabulous Flamingos Dies and colored the pieces with Copic Markers. For the sentiment, I ink blended a piece of White Cardstock with Kirsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink. I die cut the piece with a pennant from Stitched Rectangle Dies and white heat embossed “Happy Summer” from the same set.

Hello Sunny friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here sharing a handmade greeting using the new Summery Greenery dies by Sunny Studio Stamps. This brightly-colored card offers a trendy color combination along with a quick and simple card layout. I’m using a fun flower and a striped patterned paper for the background. These patterns are from the Subtle Grey Tones paper pack. I love this paper pack!  The “Aloha” word is from the Island Getaway Stamp set.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Tropical Themed Card by Bobbi Lemanski

To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by adhering patterned papers to the card front. Since the 6″ X 6″ pattern papers do not cover the entire 7″ long card front, I added an inch of 1/8″ strips of colored cardstock to the bottom of the front. I also added a 5/8″ strip of striped patterned paper to the bottom, too. Both patterns are from the same Subtle Grey paper pack.

I cut four 2-1/4″ diameter circles out of green, pink, gold and teal cardstock. I cut a different leafy design from each circle cut. One of the leaves is actually longer than the circle, cutting the circle in half. That’s okay! I love when the leaves extend beyond the circle cut. How cute is that?!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Tropical Themed Card by Bobbi Lemanski

I attached the four circles to the front, replacing the leafy design with a sage green leafy die cut for contrast. Each circle got faux black stitches around the perimeter and some black dots in the hole cutouts of the leaves. I used a fine-tip black marker to create the stitches by hand. I like the black accents with these bright colors. It “grounds” it a bit!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Tropical Themed Card by Bobbi Lemanski

I added some Black Onyx Droplets to the card for more high contrast. I also used my black marker to add smaller dots of black to the front. Lastly, I stamped “aloha” in black in the center of the circles to finish this card. This card could be used for many occasions, including a simple “hi.”

Summer Greenery Die Focused Cards with Gladys and Alma

Hello everyone! Gladys here and I'm back with an adorable mini slimline card using new dies from the release called Summer Greenery which I combined with an oldie but goodie stamp set called Silly Sloth.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Die Focused Card by Gladys Marcelino (featuring Silly Sloths, Wonky Window Dies)

To start I used two of the leaves from the Summer Greenery dies to cut from green cardstock. I inked the center with lucky clover distress oxide to add dimension. I also added white speckles with a fan brush. For the card panel I used a mini slimline die measuring 6 3/4" x 3 1/4" which is cut from Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used cracked pistachio and peacock feathers, starting from the center then out toward the edge of the panel. For more interest, I used a fan brush to add water droplets and diluted white paint. Once it was dry I used the Wonky Window dies to cut the panel.

Next I stamped the Silly Sloths on 110lb cardstock and colored them with copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. Every now and then I love to combine old sets with new to give them some love. I know for me I’m tempted to get the new release and sometimes I forget the sets I already own. Lately I have been looking through my stash and enjoy playing with sets I haven't used in awhile. I hope this card will inspire you to do that too!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Die Focused Card by Gladys Marcelino (featuring Silly Sloths, Wonky Window Dies)

Once all the elements was ready, it was time to assemble the card. Since I had the three Wonky Windows I decided it would be fun to create a shaker element. First I cut another panel from brown cardstock. I purposely wanted a slightly bigger panel to give an even border. I inlaid the negative pieces from the windows onto the brown cardstock. I filled each of the windows with sequins then I backed the inked panel with clear acetate and double sided foam tape. I carefully lined up the windows and adhered both panels together.  I arranged the greenery and critters and used liquid glue to adhere them down. For the sentiment I white heat embossed on red cardstock for a pop of color! Aren't these sloths just the sweetest?

That is all for me. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day!!

---------------------------------------------

Here is Alma and today I want to show you a swing card. The spotlight of my card is on the new Summer Greenery Dies set and I'm amazed at how versatile it can be used.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Die Focused Card by Alma Störk (featuring Tropical Paradise)

First I cut out a circle in kraft paper and folded it in half. So you already have the card blank ready. Then I punched out the leaves from the Summer Greenery Dies and spread them on the folded circle. Afterwards I wiped the “sand” of the circle with Distress Inks “Vintage Foto”, “Walnut Stain” and “Tea Dye”. I removed the leaves that have been put on and the leaves look like tracks in the sand.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Greenery Die Focused Card by Alma Störk (featuring Tropical Paradise)

Then I punched out the  leaves on cardstock and colored them in several shades of green with Copics. I glued the leaves to the upper edge of the swing card to create a 3D effect.

To finish, I stamped, colored and mounted the flamingos from the
Tropical Paradise Stamps set onto the card and stamped the text "soak up the sun" from the same set.

Swimming Pool Die Focused Cards with Catherine and Bobbi

Hi Friends! Its Catherine here, sharing a “Happy Summer” card created with the new Swimming Pool Die and friends from the Kiddie Pool set!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Swimming Pool Die Focused Summer Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Beach Buddies, Beach Babies, Kiddie Pool)

To start, I used paper from Gingham Pastels Paper Pack to die cut the swimming pool from Swimming Pool Die. I went over the grooves of the swimming pool with a white gelly roll to make the tiles more prominent. I die cut the swimming pool railing out of silver card stock. I coloured the pool water with Copic markers and used one of the mini wave dies in the set to tuck the girl inside the water.

I colored the poolside tiles, grass, and hedge with Copic markers and I ink blended the sky with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Swimming Pool Die Focused Summer Card by Catherine Cohen (featuring Beach Buddies, Beach Babies, Kiddie Pool)

I thought it would be fun to add a pool volleyball net and I used the wish list die from North Pole Dies to make the net. I used Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink to color the frame and used a black multi-liner to draw the net. I added friends from Kiddie Pool and die cut the friends with the coordinating dies, Kiddie Pool Dies. The beach ball is from Beach Babies. I added some cute critters from Beach Buddies to peek over the hedge and used the put the beach towels in the set next to the pool.

I finished off the card by adding a few butterflies from Bunnyville and a white heat embossed sentiment from Fabulous Flamingoes.

-------------------------------------------

Hi Sunny Studio friends! It’s Bobbi here sharing a few new products from the latest release. I wanted to create a light-hearted pool scene for my card today, featuring the new Swimming Pool Dies. I’m using a unique group of Sunny Studio stamps together to create this summer setting.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Swimming Pool Die Focused Summer Card by Bobbi Lemanski (featuring Kiddie Pool, Summer Greenery, Lovely Lilacs, Ocean View)

To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I used 80lb Neenah Solar White cardstock for the card base and all the die cuts. I die cut the pool ledge and steps and colored them using the following Copic Marker colors:

Water: B26, B02, B91, B93, B95
Pool ledge and decking: W4, W3, W1
Greenery/bushes: YG67, YG63, YG03, YG00

To make the patio tile decking around the pool, I made a small point in the center of my card (i.e., the vanishing point) at the top edge and moved my ruler from that stationary point out to the bottom edge of my card.  This is called a one-point perspective. This helps make my scene look a little more realistic and somewhat three-dimensional. The pool die cuts were positioned on the cement tile decking along with the pool steps.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Swimming Pool Die Focused Summer Card by Bobbi Lemanski (featuring Kiddie Pool, Summer Greenery, Lovely Lilacs, Ocean View)

To create the background, I used a blender brush to apply Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink for the sky. I added a natural privacy fence around the pool using the Lovely Lilacs stamps. These taller floral stamps make great bushes/hedges around the back of the pool. I also used one of the Summer Greenery Dies to create two spikey-looking bushes, too. I really love how the greenery turned out. Sometimes you have to look at your supplies just a little differently to achieve the desired result.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Swimming Pool Die Focused Summer Card by Bobbi Lemanski (featuring Kiddie Pool, Summer Greenery, Lovely Lilacs, Ocean View)

For the characters in the scene, I used the Kiddie Pool Stamps and coordinating dies to add the girls in the pool, the friends around the pool, and the left-side beach chair. I wanted another summer deck chair, so I added the right-side one from the Ocean View Stamps set. Lastly, I hand drew a small towel for the boy to sit on. Various Copic colors were used to color in all the elements. Lastly, I stamped the phrase in the lower right corner to finish this card.

Sneak Peek: Lovely Lilacs, Watering Can Stamps & Summer Greenery Dies

Hello and welcome to day 3 of our Sneak Peek Week!  Each morning this week I am showcasing cards using our newest Summer collection which will be available to purchase on April 22nd.

Today I am sharing ideas using our newest Lovely Lilacs layering stamps, Watering Can layering stamps and Summer Greenery Dies. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Card No. 1: For my first card of the day I chose to go with a red, white and blue color scheme (and a touch of yellow) for my Patriotic Fourth of July inspired card. I stamped my Lovely Lilacs in blue shades and created a shiny red Watering Can to hold them. Red is my favorite color and I would love to own a watering can like this! To continue my grouping, I added Lemons and a slice of watermelon using our Slice of Summer Stamps. A blue gingham print from our Classic Gingham Paper pack and a ric rac edge from our Ric-Rac Border Dies were the perfect way to ground my scene and balance out my blue flowers. Lastly I stamped the word hello from the Potted Rose Stamps. I love that the curve in the word worked so well with the curve of the handle, allowing me to stamp my greeting on the diagonal with the limited space I had left.

Sunny Studio Lemons & Watermelon Card (using Lovely Lilacs, Watering Can, Slice of Summer, Potted Rose Stamps, Classic Gingham Paper & Ric Rac Border Dies)

Card No. 2: For this 5-1/2" square card featuring the Lovely Lilacs Stamps I started by embossing a panel using our Dapper Diamond Embossing Folder and then layered a scalloped square in the center using our Fancy Frames Square dies. To get the frame to match my flowers, I inked it up using the same PinkFresh Blue Jay ink used for one of the stamp layers. My Mother's Day sentiment was borrowed from our Captivating Camellias Stamps and stamped over the top my Watering Can image.

To ink up my layered butterflies from the Watering Can Stamps, I used my MISTI tool and applied ink to my first stamp layer using a little finger dauber so that I could blend different ink colors, stamping in between the different colors added. I did this for all the butterflies shared today, stamping them assembly line style by adding lighter inks near the center and working darker toward the wing tips. Using the sponge dauber to apply ink to my stamp image gave it a nice soft blend with no harsh edges. It only took a tiny bit more time, but I think the beautiful blends made it well worth it.

Finally for this card, I adhered some
Pure White Jewels to help visually balance out the bare space in the top, right corner of my card--I decided to go with white so they wouldn't compete with the other images and be visually distracting.Sunny Studio Butterflies Square Mother's Day Card (using Lovely Lilacs, Watering Can & Captivating Camellias Stamps, Fancy Frames Square Dies & Dapper Diamonds)

Card No. 3: For this card featuring the Lovely Lilacs Stamps, I paired the pretty flowers with our Layered Basket Stamps and two more of the butterflies from the Watering Can Stamps. It worked out perfectly that one of the shades from our Flirty Flowers Paper pack perfectly complemented the Lawn Fawn inks I had used for my flowers. I layered it with our Frilly Frames Polka-dot dies, choosing to only punch out the dots around the scalloped edge and leaving the others in place to keep my background from becoming overly busy. For my greeting I used our Thanks You Words die cut from a shade of purple cardstock to match my butterflies.

Card No. 4: Up next is a card pairing the Lovely Lilacs Stamps with our Botanical Backdrop die cut from green cardstock and inked up along the edges using Mowed Lawn Distress ink. Behind my leafy frame, I inked up a white cardstock panel using Picked Raspberry distress ink applying it darker on the outside edges and keeping the inside portion more light and airy. I tucked the lilacs around the frame to give the look that they were still growing on the bush, adding my birthday sentiment to the center using our Everyday Greetings Stamps with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Finally I added a couple of pink butterflies from the Watering Can Stamps and a sprinkling of Pink Spinel Jewels to give my card a bit of sparkle.
Sunny Studio Butterflies & Flowers Birthday Card (using Lovely Lilacs, Watering Can, Everyday Greetings Stamps & Botanical Backdrop Die)

Card No. 5: The new Watering Can Stamps aren't limited to just being paired with our new lilac images and in fact are a wonderful complement to so many of our layered flower sets! For this card I turned to our Cheerful Daisy Stamps to create my flower arrangement. I was delighted to realize after my scene was set, that the colors almost all could be found in the striped print from our Summer Splash Paper pack. I added my stitched scalloped edge using our Fishtail Banner II Dies and stamped my sentiment on the diagonal to match the angle using our Happy Thoughts Stamps. Lastly I added a rainbow butterfly using the same finger dauber method described for my second card to apply all the colors to my image. I love how it turned out!
Sunny Studio Colorful Daisy Card (using Cheerful Daisies, Watering Can, Happy Thoughts Stamps, Fishtail Banner II Dies & Summer Splash Paper)

Card No. 6: For this clean and simple card I wanted to make the butterflies from the Watering Can Stamps the star of the show, arranging them in a rainbow grid pattern. I started by cutting a rainbow panel from our Spring Fling Paper pack and then layered it with the largest Stitched Rectangle Die which I die-cut a second time using our Frilly Frames Quatrefoil Dies in the center. For my sentiment I white heat embossed a phrase from our new Inside Greetings Congrats Stamps (which I will be sharing more of on Thursday) onto a black banner cut using our Slimline Pennant Dies.Sunny Studio Rainbow Butterfly Butterflies Card (using Watering Can & Inside Greetings Congrats Stamps, Frilly Frames Quatrefoil & Slimline Pennant Dies, Spring Fling Paper)

Card No. 7: Switching gears, I have a series of cards featuring the tropical leaves from our new Summer Greenery Dies. For this card, I started by die-cutting the leaves from a number of colorful cardstock scraps and then inked them up along one edge with distress inks to add a little extra interest. I then set to work arranging them to fill my entire card front, cutting off any excess and saving them to add where I had openings along the edges. I kept the rest of my card fairly simple since the background was plenty busy, adding a small ric rac edge along the bottom using our Ric-Rac Border Dies. For my greeting I stamped the word "Summer" from our Radiant Plumeria Stamps using Versamark Ink on a Stitched Oval and sprinkled on coordinating colored embossing powders to match the tropical leaves in my background. I then heat embossed the word "greetings" from that same stamp set onto a leftover scrap of patterned paper from our Spring Fling Paper pack (in fact leftover from Card No.6).

Card No. 8: I created a tropical leaf frame for my next card, pairing the Summer Greenery Dies together with an opening cut using our Stitched Circle Small Dies. For my scene,  I used the boy from our new Kiddie Pool Stamps, together with the beach scene border from our Ocean View Stamps. To mask my black ink that had smeared during stamping, I decided to add some white sea foam using a Sharpie White Paint Pen and I ended up liking the happy accident. It just goes to show that the old adage is true; There are no mistakes in crafting, just opportunities to embellish. I complimented my little scene I added a coordinating yellow flower, leaves and aloha greeting from Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps.Sunny Studio Boy in Beach Chair with Tropical Leaf Frame Card (using Kiddie Pool, Ocean View & Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps, Summer Greenery Dies)

Card No. 9: My last card of the day pairs the Summer Greenery Dies with our Radiant Plumeria Stamps and Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps. To help them blend together seamlessly, I chose to fussy cut all my floral images out by hand and added interest to my Summer Greenery green cardstock leaves by inking them up along one side using Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink. For my natural kraft background I combined the outside stitching from our Frilly Frames Retro Petals Dies with the inside portion from our Frilly Frames Herringbone Dies. My "Aloha" greeting was created by die-cutting the letters from our Classic Gingham Paper using our Chloe Alphabet Dies.

To help you line up our layered stamps I've created a special layering guide (you can click on the photo below to view it larger).  The guide shows the stamps starting with the lightest ink color, working towards the darkest, but sometimes I find it easier to start backward when setting up my layers. They both work depending on what your preference is.  The black outline indicates where that layer touches the previously stamped layer.
