Sneak Peek Week: Introducing Sliding Window Die with Video Tutorial

Hello and welcome to the final day of our fall release sneak peek week!  Of course, I truly love everything that we have, but I think I just might have saved one of the best for last.  There are just so many possibilities for our new Sliding Window dies and I seriously can't wait to see how you guys use them.

I think for these dies you are only limited by your imagination so pull up a chair and check out today's cards.  Also make sure to scroll down for the video I created (gasp) and for a special offer for free shipping this weekend.  ;)

Card No. 1: So these dies create a window in the center of your card front with a sliding pop-up window where you have have hidden messages and other surprises below. This was the first one I created so I kept my design fairly simple and just heat embossed my sentiments below the sliders.  Love how the trees from our Woodland Border dies look when popped up.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Fall Pumpkin Patch Pop-up Card using Sliding Window Dies, Woodland Borders, Fall Kiddos & Happy Harvest Stamps and new 6x6 patterned papers

And here's the front view of the card before it has been popped up...  I used papers from our Classic Gingham, Gingham Jewel Tones & Amazing Argyle 6x6 Paper packs, along with the clouds from our Comic Strip Everyday die, pumpkins from our Happy Harvest Stamps and the boy pulling the wagon from Fall Kiddos.

Card No. 2:  For this card I started by coloring my scene on a A2 sized cardstock panel before cutting the front with the sliding window die.  I die-cut masks for the clouds from full adhesive post it notes using cloud dies from our Rain or Shine, Sunny Sentiments and Comic Strip Everyday dies.

For my little leaf pile I cut several masks of the leaves from our Fall Kiddos set and went to work moving them around as I stamped the pile one by one.  When I was done, I colored in the background with a darker brown and filled in the ground with quick brush strokes using my Copic marker to create the look of grass. I then added my girl to the top of the heap which I had fussy cut out, being careful to not adhere the top portion of her hat that pops up.  I then finished my card front with a sentiment from the Happy Harvest set.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Autumn Girl with Pile of Leaves Pop-up Card using Sliding Window Die

Here's a view of the card when the sliding window has been popped up... As I was starting to get a little bit more into my groove, I started to think through what I wanted to show on my sliding pop-up and down below my scene. Flat designs help the slider move smoothly so I masked off these the leaves and clouds and did all my coloring before assembling the card which wasn't the case in some of my earlier card designs where I tried to figure that out after the card was assembled.

Card No. 3: For my third card I combined our Nutty For You die together with our Beautiful Autumn stamps.  I started by stamping the leaves and acorns onto my A2 sized card panel and coloring the images with Copics.  I then masked off the images and inked on some distress inks, first in Peacock Feathers and then mixing in some Broken China to better match my striped paper from the Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones 6x6 Paper pack.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Fall Leaves & Acorn Pop-up Card using Sliding Window Die

The 3-1/4" x 4-7/8" panel that you cut to pull on and operate the sliding window is a third opportunity for embellishment with a hidden surprise.  For this card I used a contrasting color of patterned paper which I stamped with a custom sentiment using our Sweet Script stamps.  I decided to switch things up and use a piece of ribbon as my pull tab.  To counterbalance the extra thickness of the ribbon, I also die-cut a circular notch from the front of my card base, choosing to go with a side-folding card.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Nutty For You Acorn Pop-up Card using Sliding Window Die

Card No.4:  This is another early experiment with a prototype of the dies.  I had all my papers cut and the card assembled before knew how I would embellish it which is very doable, but also limited me in some of my design choices.  I had already adhered my rainbow created with our Sunny Semi Circle dies when I screwed up the stamping of my sentiment and needed a way to cover my mistake.  I decided I would use it as an opportunity for embellishment so I pieced together and elongated our Fancy Frames Square dies, snipping them off where they hid behind my rainbow and re-stamped my sentiment from our Sunny Sentiments set on a contrasting piece of paper.  In the end I actually like how it turned out better than my original plan, but it took some work scoring the frame to match the folds of the window.

And here's the view inside the pop-up with the sentiment continued on the inside... This was a really simple way to quickly add a fun surprise below using a single color of ink using images from our Sunny Sentiment stamps.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Rainbow, Clouds & Sunshine Pop-up Card using Sliding Window Die

Card No.5: Here's my second take on the previous card, this time planning the various layers beforehand.  As I was working on my other card, I really had wished I could have some colored rainbows on the reveal so for my video today I decided to use this card as my example and have a second go at it using our Rain or Shine stamps for the stamped rainbows.

As one last project for the day I created a trio of gift tags using one of the three bonus dies from the set that would be perfect for adding to the top of a birthday present on the go.  At 1-5/8" x 2-3/4" they are also a great size for mass producing for the holidays.

I used a mix of Gingham Jewel Tones, Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones and Preppy Prints for my paper and our Christmas Icons set to stamp the "to" and "from".

Miracles of all Miracles I actually created a video sharing our entire fall release as well as a tutorial using the sliding window dies (at the 11:10 mark) that you can view in HD on our YouTube channel HERE. :)

Due to overwhelming popularity the Sliding Window die has already sold out, but is now available as a pre-order.  Orders that include the die will be held and sent out when more come back in stock on approximately July 30th. Thank you for your patience.

Here's a set of printable step-by-step instructions (click on image to view larger):

Sneak Peek Week: Home Sweet Gnome, Comic Strip & Woodland Border

Hello there!  We're only one more day away from our last reveal and release day tomorrow.  Yay!  I can't wait to dig and share what I created for you today using four more new products!

Card No. 1: Up first is card using a super fun and versatile new die called Comic Strip Everyday die.  For this card card I created a sampler of sorts showing you all the cute ways the parts and pieces within the Comic Strip frame can be layered and used.  For my sentiment I turned to our Happy Home Stamps.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Congrats on your New Home House Card featuring Comic Strip Everyday Dies

Card No. 2:  For this card I focused on using the houses à la carte without the comic strip frame, pairing it with another sentiment from our Happy Home set. Once again I must point out that these dies have some very tiny pieces to contend with given the small windows and doors you can layer together, but nothing a little glue pen can handle and the results make it all worthwhile.  ;)

For the center house I cut the my own rectangular base to turn it into a two-story house and add some extra height and variation to my neighborhood scene.  I also popped up the center portion of each house with foam tape to make them look more 3D and happily discovered our Striped Silly 6x6 Paper is sized just right to create the look of lap siding.  There truly are so many different combinations you could create and I can't wait to see what you all dream up!
Sunny Studio Stamps: From Our Home To Yours House Card featuring Comic Strip Everyday Dies

Card No. 3:
Up next is a card using the Comic Strip frame without the other parts and pieces.  Instead I combined it with the images of another new stamp set called Home Sweet Gnome. Rather than inking up my background like I did on my first card, this time I created a colorblocked look by filing the squares with a mix of our Classic Gingham Papers and new Gingham Jewel Tones Papers.  I love how it looks to have the little groupings extend beyond the confines of the individual frames!
Sunny Studio Stamps: Gnome Sweet Gnome Card featuring Comic Strip Everyday Dies & Gingham 6x6 Patterned Paper

Card No. 4:  For my next card I used a similar idea, this time turning the Comic Strip Everyday die on it's side for a horizontal design.  The little grassy border that comes with this die is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine.  Its small scale is the perfect compliment to so many of our smaller stamp images.

Card No. 5 (outside):  For my next card I combined the gnomes from Home Sweet Gnome with a new standalone die called Woodland Borders which comes with two stitched hillside dies that give you 4 possible edges to use, along with three layering trees and a small bonus pop-up die.  For this card I cut all my trees from white cardstock and colored them with quick brushstrokes using my Copic markers in three or four different shades of green.

I thought it would be fun to create an everyday gnome card by bringing in the mushroom house from our Backyard Bugs Stamps.

Card No. 5 (inside): For the inside I used the bonus little pop-up die to create a pop-up card. For my background I inked up my sky using Tumbled Glass Distress ink and stamped the clouds from our Rain or Shine and Sunny Sentiments sets with Colorbox Mermaid Ink.

Sneak Peek Week: Fall Kiddos, Happy Harvest & Fall Flicks Filmstrip

Hello there! We're halfway through our sneak peek week and I'm super excited to share today's 5 newest products with you.  I love them all so much that I couldn't resist creating 7 cards with them.  :)

Card No. 1:  My first card combines all of the new products in one fun card.  We have a new standalone die called the Fall Flicks Filmstrip die which creates the perfect frame for scene building.  The die set also takes advantage of the negative spaces between the frames to include some bonus mini layered pumpkin and sunflower dies (which I've used in my last two cards below).

For this card I created a little scene using our new Fall Kiddos stamps & dies and Happy Harvest stamps & dies (and the grassy border from a new set that will be featured tomorrow).  As many of you know I actually enjoy fussy cutting my images, but the tree is one image that I quickly realized is best used with the coordinating dies or stamped directly to your card background because it turned out to be one crazy image to cut out by hand.  ;)  The tree trunk comes with an opening in the wood grain print to either stamp a carved heart or a happy face which is super fun!

I completed my card with argyle borders above and below my scene by cutting strips of paper from our new Amazing Argyle 6x6 Paper pack.
Sunny Studio Stamps Autumn Tree Card featuring Happy Harvest & Fall Kiddos stamps, Fall Flicks Filmstrip dies and Amazing Argyle Patterned Paper

Card No. 2:  For this card I created a different scene using those same five products.  This time instead of using patterned paper, I stamped a subtle tone-on-tone striped pattern using our Background Basics stamps.  These sunflowers images can be stamped plain or be personalized with one of the many smiley faces in the Happy Harvest set like I did here.
Sunny Studio Stamps Sunflower Card featuring Background Basics, Happy Harvest & Fall Kiddos stamps and Fall Flicks Filmstrip dies

Card No. 3:  Up next is a card I created using the girl with umbrella, wind and sentiment from the Fall Kiddos.  I love how well the she paired with the puddle from Rain or Shine and our mini Rain Showers background stamp!

For my patchwork border I used the square die from our exclusive Basic Mini Shaped dies together with the papers from our Amazing Argyle 6x6 Paper pack. For the die-cut squares I adhered them to my card base starting in the top corner near the fold and worked along the edge.  After I had the top row on, I had to trim my notecard slightly narrower to approximately 5-3/8" or something close to that.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Fall Kiddos Rainbow Umbrella Card featuring Amazing Argyle Woodgrain 6x6 Patterned Paper

Card No. 4:  For this card I wanted to show how the filmstrip die can well for vertical cards too. In this format, one of the sections is the perfect size to fit a sentiment.  To keep things from getting too busy, I chose one of the two brown polka-dot prints from the Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones 6x6 Paper pack.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice Card featuring Happy Harvest & Fall Kiddos stamps, Fall Flicks Filmstrip die & Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones Patterned Paper

Card No. 5:  I love that depending how you color the tree it can work with autumn leaves or green ones for early fall or even Spring.  For this card I added a happy face to the trunk of my tree and layered it with a number of the little apples from the set which I also stamped with the smallest happy face and coated with glossy accents.  I then added those same little faces to the apples in the basket.

For this card I colored my scene to match my two papers taken from the Gingham Jewel Tones 6x6 Paper pad, although these colors can be found in all four new paper packs.  I love how well they mix and match with each other!  To add a little interest I created button flaps using the pennant from our Fancy Frames Rectangle dies and heat embossed my sentiment with white powder on the smallest oval from our Fancy Frames Oval dies.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Hooray For Autumn Card (featuring Happy Harvest & Fall Kiddos Stamps & Gingham Jewel Tones Patterned Paper)

Card No. 6: Up next is a card showcasing the mini layering pumpkins that come with the Fall Flicks Filmstrip die.  These are sized to work together with the stamped images and not be too gigantic in your scenes, but I must warn you that the parts are definitely on the small side if you struggle with little pieces.  ;)  To make them look even more 3D, I used a finger dauber to ink the edges with Carved Pumpkin distress ink and then assembled them using a Zig glue pen.  Love how they pop!

As I was looking for a paper to use I came across this fun stripe in our Preppy Prints 6x6 Paper pack that I was drawn to so I decided to pull out the darker blue and turn my scene into a evening visit to the pumpkin patch (after all It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is still one of my favorites). Using a Sharpie Extra Fine White Paint Pen, I hand drew some stars and dots to create my night's sky.  I finished off the card with a simple sentiment using a stitched label cut in half from a new die set that I'll be sharing on Friday.

Card No. 7: For my last card of the day I used the mini layering sunflower dies that also come with the Fall Flicks Filmstrip die and papers from our Amazing Argyle and Preppy Prints 6x6 Paper Packs.  For my sentiment I used the word "harvest" from the Fall Kiddos stamps and paired it the new Greetings Word die which I cut from three pieces of white cardstock and layered together with a glue pen.

Phew!  That was a lot to take in.  Are you still with me?

I'm so happy you've joined me for today's sneak peek and I'd love to give a $25 gift code to one lucky winner.  Make sure to keep checking back all this week for more peeks & prizes for up to five chances to win.  The contests run through Saturday at Midnight PST with winners announced here on Sunday, July 15th. :)
