Sneak Peek: Introducing Fall Friends & Bewitching Stamps

Hello and welcome to day 2 of our 2021 Holiday Peek Week!  Each morning this week I am showcasing cards using our newest fall & winter collections which will begin shipping on August 27th.

Today I am sharing more autumn themed cards using our two newest critter stamp sets!

Card No. 1: Up first is a slimline card using our new Fall Friends Stamps which mix and match with our previously released Beach Buddies Stamps. This set comes with a bunch of fun autumn themed accessories and four new woodland critters. For my card I started by die-cutting my slimline background by elongating our Stitched Rectangle Dies and then stamping the polka-dot print using our Background Basics Stamps. To frame my three mini scenes I turned to our new Scalloped Oval Mat 2 Dies cut from white cardstock and then backed them with the Scalloped Oval Mat 1 Dies cut from green cardstock. I completed my card by stamping a banner from our Banner Basics Stamps onto Classic Sunburst Paper and then heat embossed a sentiment from the Fall Friends set to match the banner's curve.

Card No. 2: For my next card showcasing our new Fall Friends Stamps, I created another slimline card this time with a horizontal orientation, fashioning a tree house from a number of different elements. I started by hand cutting the curves of my tree trunk from some scratch paper which I embossed using our Woodgrain Embossing Folder for a more realistic texture. For my tree foliage I used the cloud border from our Slimline Nature Border Dies and added a door and window from our new Gingerbread House Dies which I will be sharing more of later this week. For the rest of my scene I used the grassy border from those same Slimline Nature Border dies which I inked up blending some Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress inks, before going over the tips with some Mustard Seed Distress ink. The rest of my scene and sentiment were created using our new Fall Friends Set. I just love this little wagon that can be filled with the critters, pumpkins or apples from the set!

Card No. 3: The apples with barrel from from our new Fall Friends Stamps are a perfect match to pair with the tree and apple basket from our Happy Harvest Stamps! For this card I started by cutting a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" panel from a green diagonal checked print from our Classic Sunburst Paper for my background. I then cut the largest oval from the Scalloped Oval Mat 3 Dies from red cardstock. To save on paper I simultaneously cut the a Scalloped Oval Mat 1 Dies and an oval from the Stitched Oval 2 Dies from white cardstock at the same time by nesting the two together when running my paper through my die-cutting machine, using the outside scalloped portion leftover to fill my openings behind my red scalloped mat. I blended some Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron together with my favorite Jumbo Dauber to give the general feeling of the sky and grass behind my scene and then stamped my sentiment from the Fall Friends set using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

Card No. 4: For my next card featuring the Fall Friends Stamps I started by blending my background using Mustard Seed, Wild Honey and Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink before splattering it with water and then blending Vintage Photo and Rusty Hinge inks for my ground on a separate strip of paper. I then added in some birch trees with mini leaves from our Rustic Winter Dies and the outer die from Frilly Frames Herringbone Dies to frame my scene. After filling my scene with all the cute elements from the Fall Friends set, a heat embossed sentiment from our Harvest Mice Stamps completed my card.

Card No. 5: For my last card with the Fall Friends Stamps, I paired the husky pup and sentiment from the set with the pocket image from our new Christmas Critters Stamps which I will be sharing more of tomorrow. To give my little pocket a home on the larger canvas of this card, I fashioned a pair of overalls, adding the curves on either side of my overalls using the smallest oval from our Stitched Oval 2 Dies and buttons from our Cute As A Button Stamps. For the shirt I used a checked print from our Colorful Autumn Paper, adhering a second layer to the back for the folded collar portion so the same print showed on both sides.

Card No. 6: Switching gears, I have a few cards to share using our new mini 2x3 Bewitching Stamps for Halloween which includes a kitty cat, cauldron, bubbles, witch's hat and two sentiments. To create my card, I started by inking up my cloud background using the cloud border from our Slimline Nature Border dies which I cut from masking material and inked up using a light mix of Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves distress inks.

You might recognize this kitty. It's almost identical to the kitty in our Grad Cat Stamps, just minus the grad cap and with the tail facing the opposite direction. For this card I paired the two kitties together, doing my best to blend in the graduation cap by coloring it to match the cat's ears and covering the majority of the cap with the witch's hat from the Bewitching set.  I framed them all using the largest die from the Stitched Semi-Circle Dies and used the thinnest banner from our Slimline Pennant Dies to form a ledge for them to sit on and a place for me to add my sentiment greeting from the Bewitching set. The pennant die only has the "v" cut from one end though so to make them match on both sides, I flipped the die over after running it though my machine, clicked it in place with the previous stitching and ran it through a second time.

Card No. 7: Up next is a low profile pop-up box card I created by combining a number of our dies with a simple scoring board. I started by creating my background by cutting my background piece sized to 4.75" x 4.25" by shortening our Stitched Rectangle Dies. I cut a smaller rectangle to layer over the top using cardstock blended with Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. I then created the bottom portion of my pop-up card by cutting grass borders from black cardstock using our Slimline Nature Border Dies. 

This card has been designed to fold to one side so that it can still fit into an A2 sized envelope so to achieve this my largest grassy border was trimmed to be 6.75" wide. It was then scored at .25", 1", 5.75" and 6.5", folding the two .25" wide portions on either end to adhere to the back side of my stitched rectangle base. The smaller middle piece of grass was trimmed to 5.25" and scored at .25" and 5" before tucking it between the back panel and outer grass border and adhering on either side.

To embellish my card I combined the cats and elements from both our new Bewitching Stamps and Scaredy Cat Stamps. It's difficult to see in my photo, but I used a trimmed down piece of acetate to adhere to the back of my cauldron to help my bubbles appear like they are floating mid-air. For my sentiment I heat embossed the second greeting that comes with the Bewitching Stamps.

Card No. 8: I love that the kitty cat that comes with the Bewitching Stamps isn't limited to just Halloween and can be used for everyday purposes too! For this card I lined up three of the kitties on a fence in front of the moon using our Picket Fence Dies and Stitched Circle Large Dies. To create the glow behind my moon, I sponged on Salty Ocean Distress Ink near the center of my card panel and then blended the new Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot distress inks (in that order) as I worked towards the darkest outside edges. For my moon I inked it with Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress ink and then splattered on some water to give it some realistic craters and texture. My greeting was created by combining a stamped sentiment from our Meow & Furever Stamps and the word "meow" spelled out using our Loopy Letters Dies. Adding some stars with my Sharpie White Extra Fine Paint Pen was my final finishing touch.

6th Birthday Blog Hop with Crisp Autumn, Words of Gratitude & Oval Die Sneak Peeks

Hello and welcome to the first day of our 2021 Holiday Peek Week!  More importantly we are also celebrating our company's 6th birthday with a big all team BLOG HOP and lots of extra prizes all week long! Hooray! Each morning this week I will be showcasing cards using our newest fall & winter collections which will begin shipping on August 27th.

Today I am sharing our new Crisp Autumn Stamps and dies which feature two layered mini pumpkins, a maple leaf, a birch leaf and a chestnut leaf, along with a beautiful "happy Autumn" scripty greeting. I also am showcasing our new Words of Gratitude Stamps which is chocked full of great sentiments, our new Thank You Word Dies and 4 brand new mix and match Oval die sets which compliment our previously released Fancy Frames Oval Dies and Stitched Oval Dies.

Card No. 1: For my first card of the day I created a set of simple cards forming a wreath using the two mini pumpkins and two of the three leaves from our new Crisp Autumn Stamps and dies. I started by die-cutting a circle from white cardstock using the 2-7/8" circle from our Stitched Circle Large Dies which I mounted onto 4-1/4" x 5.5" panels cut from our Dots & Stripes Jewel Tones Paper packs. 

My die-cut circle not only gave me a contrasting color for my opening, but also really helped me form my wreaths and keep them somewhat symmetrical. I started each card by laying my pumpkins on card and then tucking the leaves behind them centers on the seam of my circle's edge using liquid adhesive which is more forgiving if I want to slide or push it over a wee bit. I completed my cards using the "happy autumn" greeting from the set which I die-cut using the coordinating dies.

Card No. 2: Up next is a card showcasing all three of the leaves from our Crisp Autumn Stamps which I used to create a pattern for my background. When I was done arranging and adhering the leaves to my white cardstock panel. I trimmed them down using our Stitched Rectangle Dies which I then mounted onto an orange cable knit patterned paper from our new Sweater Weather Paper pack.

For my greeting, I die-cut a strip of orange striped paper using our Striped Silly Paper, adding stitching to the edges with our Slimline Basic Border dies. For my "thankful" greeting I stamped the word from our Elegant Leaves Stamps using VersaFine Clair Acorn Ink which I then heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder.

Card No. 3:  This card started as a background which I created using our new Icing Border Dies (which I will be sharing more of later in the week). I cut my ric-rac inspired borders from a rainbow of fall colors and mounted them onto a dark brown cardstock panel cut down to 5.5" x 4.25". For my focal point, I paired the new mini pumpkins from our Crisp Autumn Stamps with our older Pretty Pumpkins Stamps for a fun fall arrangement. For my frame I used our new Scalloped Oval Mat 2 Dies, layered over our Scalloped Oval Mat 1 dies cut from white cardstock and then topped them both with our original Stitched Oval Dies. I finished my card by stamping a banner from our Banner Basics Stamps using PinkFresh Studio Mermaid Cove Ink and heat embossed a sentiment from our Fall Kiddos Stamps.

Card No. 4: For this card I created another fall arrangement, but this time pairing the leaves and pumpkins from the Crisp Autumn Stamps with the leaves, flower and bumblebee from our Elegant Leaves Stamps and Sunflower Fields Stamps. I mounted my arrangement onto a piece of blue vine print paper from our new Sweater Weather Paper pack and finished off my card using our new Thank You Word Dies and a sentiment from our Words of Gratitude Stamps (which were stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed using Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder).

Card No. 5: For this card I started by embossing my background by running a piece of 4.25" x 5.5" maroon  cardstock through my die-cutting machine using our Cable Knit Embossing Folder. I then cut an oval from white cardstock using our Scalloped Oval Mat 1 dies which I stamped using a greeting from our Words of Gratitude Stamps with VersaFine Clair Acorn Ink and added the word "thanks" die-cut from dark brown cardstock with our Thank You Word Dies. For my leaves, I used those same new layered Crisp Autumn Stamps which I adhered to the back of my oval with some liquid adhesive which gave me the flexibility to move them around a bit as I filled in the spaces around my oval. 

At this point my card could have been complete, but I was feeling like it was a bit top-heavy and missing something so I decided to trim off 3/8" off the bottom of my cable knit card panel and added a thin strip of brown paper from our Gingham Jewel Tones Paper pack and a brown rainbow stripe from our new Sweater Weather Paper pack behind it, to the bottom of my top folding card base.

Card No. 6: For my next card, I started by die-cutting an oval from my white cardstock panel using our new Stitched Oval 2 dies which I then embossed using our Woodgrain Embossing Folder and filled the opening behind it with some orange vine print paper from our Sweater Weather Paper pack. I then added our decorative scalloped oval over the top using our Fancy Frames Oval Dies. For my scene I combined the leaves and pumpkins from both our Pretty Pumpkins Stamps and Crisp Autumn Stamps to create a cute fall grouping. 

Finally, I cut a pennant for my sentiment using our Slimline Pennant Dies (inverted on itself and run a second time through my die-cutting machine) cut from the diagonal grid print paper from our Classic Sunburst Paper pack and heat embossed my greeting using our Words of Gratitude Stamps. Despite using 9 different products on this one card, I love how clean and fresh this design feels with the white. After using embossing folders for these last two cards, it has made me fall in love with them all over again. I love the rich texture they add to fall cards!

Card No. 7: For this card I started by die-cutting the word thanks using our Thank You Word Dies from a bunch of different white cardstock scraps I had sitting on my desk. In the beginning I knew I wanted to create a repeated background with them, but I still wasn't sure what colors I would be using for my finished card. After going back and forth for quite some time with complete indecision, I decided to ink up each word with some Spiced Marmalade distress ink using my favorite Jumbo Dauber and cut an extra set from green cardstock to stand out on my background. For my patterned paper background, I used more of that orange cable knit print from our new Sweater Weather Paper pack and a little rainbow striped print along the bottom from our Colorful Autumn Paper pack, using our new Icing Border dies to bridge the seam between the two.

For my finishing touches I added a heat embossed greeting from our Words of Gratitude Stamps, a cluster of pumpkins & leaf from our Crisp Autumn Stamps and a scattering of our Orange Topaz Jewels.


Card No. 8: My last card of the day puts our new Words of Gratitude Stamps and Thank You Word Dies center stage as the focal point, framing them with both our original Stitched Oval Dies and our new Stitched Oval 2 Dies. For the pink cable knit and pretty floral background, I used patterns from our new Sweater Weather Paper pack, paired with the yellow gingham print from our Classic Gingham Paper pack. To complement the flowers in my background, I die-cut and layered flowers with a similar feel using our Botanical Backdrop Dies which I topped with rhinestones using our Rubellite Pink Jewels and Orange Topaz Jewels. I then used the reverse side of that same yellow gingham paper to add a small scalloped edge to my card using our new Icing Border Dies.


I frequently am asked which ink colors I used for my layered images.  While I think there are so many great options out there, these are the colors I used today for my stamped images from light to dark:

To help you line up our layered stamps like a pro I've created a special layering guide (you can click on the photo below to view it larger). The guide shows the stamps starting with the lightest ink color, working towards the darkest, but sometimes I find it easier to start backwards. They both work depending on what your preference is.  The black outline indicates where that layer touches the previously stamped layer.  :)
