Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Wanda Guess

Hi everyone! Wanda Guess here! I'm always happy and excited to be the guest designer on the Sunny Studio Blog! I'm so delighted to work with the beautiful and fun stamps and dies from Sunny Studio! Happy Summer! When I saw this new release I immediately loved everything - but in particular the Tiki Time set! My husband and I love to visit our local Tiki Bar here in Sacramento, California! I knew I had to make a card with a Tiki theme! And a giant cupcake?? And Hamsters?? It's all fantastic. I love this latest release. I had so much fun creating three cards to share with you today. First up is a tropical oasis Tiki Bar out in the jungle! This is a big square card that measures 5.25" x 5.25" made from white cardstock. I layered pretty Sunny Studio patterned paper and then ink blended the top layer with Distress Inks. I think I used 5-6 stamp sets to make this one. I love that about Sunny Studio - all the stamp sets work together so nicely. 

I featured the Tiki Time stamp set and then added elements like the flamingo and that little crab and some palm trees from other sets. I used the Tropical Scenes stamp set for the top piece. I stamped and die cut out all the pieces first and designed my card layout. Then I colored everything with Copic Markers and added bits of white gel pen accents and a little bit of glitter! I die cut a kraft hillside/ground and ink blended it to look like sand.

All the elements are attached to the card with foam tape. What a fun card to make! I wish I was inside this card right now having a cocktail with those cute critters! (Our local Tiki Bar is called The Jungle Bird, so that is what inspired me!)

Next up is a big giant cupcake birthday card. This card base is A2 size made from white cardstock. I layered patterned papers in pink polka dots and used the Frilly Frames Stripes die set to make the pretty layer. I used the Cupcake Shape Die and made the bottom from Kraft cardstock. 

The cupcake part and the frosting were die cut from white cardstock. I colored the frosting and the wrapper with Copic Markers in pink and brown. I die cut the cherry from gingham paper and used the candle flame as a leaf for the cherry. The sentiment is from the Two Scoops stamp set and I layered it with some scalloped circles.

Finally I added little hearts and sprinkles with Doodlebug accents. I also splashed on some white paint because I really like that look. It's hard to see in the photo, but I also splashed on some silver paint and white shimmer paint. This would be a great birthday card for someone of any age!

Lastly today is a fun, clean and simple designed card made with those Happy Hamsters! What an adorable stamp set! This finished card is slightly smaller than A2 because those images are small. I like the scale of a slightly smaller card base for that reason. 

I stamped and die cut out the hamsters and their wheel. Then I colored everything with Copics. I layered those pretty stripes in teal and then matched my Copic coloring to the Striped Silly patterned paper color. Everything is attached to the card with foam tape. 

I wrapped a bit of brown twine across the top to just add a little texture. I wheelie love them! Don't you?! Did you have a pet hamster as a kid? I did - and this brought me back to those happy memories.

Designer Choice Cards with Candice and Tammy

Hello! Candice with you today with an uplifting and bright mini slimline card to send to any friend!

I used these Sunny Studio products to create my mini slimline design:

• Balloon Rides stamps & coordinating dies
• Stitched Rectangle dies
• Picket Fence dies (grass)
• Slimline Nature Borders dies

I began my mini slimline with a 6 1/2 x 3 1/2 card base. For the background, I die cut the stitched panel from Bristol Smooth cardstock using the partial die cut method (run it partway through, rotate and line up, and run it partway through again!) I inked this panel with a cloud stencil created from the Slimline Nature Borders die set using salvaged patina. I then die cut 2 rows of grass and inked them with mowed lawn, one very lightly, and adhered along the bottom.

Next, I stamped all the images from the awesome Balloon Rides stamp set, colored them with Copic markers, used the coordinating dies to cut them out and added some accents with a white pen. I arranged them on the card front with either glue or foam tape for dimension. I finished with my sentiment heat embossed in white on a black banner that I trimmed in 2 and adhered with foam tape!

Hello friends, Tammy here! This week it's Designer's Choice! I absolutely love summer and underwater themed cards, so I combined a few of my favorite sets to create this fun split scene slimline card...looks like there's a party both on the beach and under the sea!

To begin, I stamped, colored with Copic markers, and die cut images from the following sets:

Tiki Time/ Coordinating Dies
Oceans of Joy/ Coordinating Dies
Best Fishes/ Coordinating Dies

Next, I cut Bristol smooth cardstock to using the Slimline Scalloped Frame Dies and cut it in half. I inked the top of the panel with Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks. The bottom half of the panel was ink blended with Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks. I then cut a sandy border using the Slimline Nature Borders Dies, inked it with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Oxides, and cut 2 borders to fit the width of the card. 

Next, I attached the inked panel to a white Scalloped Frame Die, then arranged the colored images onto my card, attaching some with foam tape for dimension. Lastly, I white heat embossed the sentiment from Fabulous Flamingos onto a strip of black cardstock to complete my card!

Designer Choice Cards with Vanessa and Anja

Hello to you! Vanessa here with a fun cacti card combining various products:

I started with the Comic Strip Everyday Die and die-cut the pieces from white cardstock and patterned paper. After I had adhered the background, I stamped the images, colored them with Copic markers, die-cut the elements with the matching dies and adhered everything to the card with foam tape.

Now I die-cut the letters from black cardstock, spelled "sharp" and added details with a white gel pen. Finally, I stamped and heat-embossed the "looking" onto a strip of black cardstock, trimmed it and adhered it.

These adorable images always make me smile! This is the list of the products used today:

Hi everyone, Anja here today. The sweet retro trailer from the Happy Camper set makes me dream of a little summer vacation somewhere in the middle of nature, maybe at a lake with the mountains in the background. So I came up with this little scene where I added images from the Spring Scenes stamp set and Comic Strip Everyday die-cuts.

First, I cut out a window with the largest of the Stitched Semi-Circle Dies from a white woodgrain cardstock panel. I did some Distress Oxide ink blending on smooth Bristol cardstock to create the sky background (Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo) and the grass (Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness) as well. I used the grass border die to trim the top of the green ink blended piece. At the left, I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

Next, I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the trees and mountains. Since I don't have the matching die, I fussy cut the trailer with scissors. I adhered the woodgrain panel with foam tape and arranged the scene inside the window.

Designer Choice Cards with Franci and Julia

Hello! Franci here with you today, with a special little project. I made little clothespins!! 

So, I'm growing into gardening and plants and flowers more and more lately. I don't have a garden myself ... but I have a little balcony, and during the last lockdown I planted some veggie seeds (my pride and joy! Ha!). So I needed some cute little clothespins to keep all my extra seeds tidy and organized ... and that's it!

To make these you just need some little clothespins, some white craft foam and the new Looking Sharp set + it's coordinated dies. First of all I stamped, colored with Copics and die cut all my little plants, then added some details with a white gel pen and die cut some more plants out of white cardstock and foam.

I glued my colored image to a craft foam die cut one and added another white cardstock one on the back, then glued this little sandwich to the clothespin itself.  

Little projects like these are so dear to me. Sometime creating little things like these brings so much joy into your everyday life! I hope you are now inspired to create something special with your Sunny Studio goodies, have fun!

Hey crafty friends! It’s Julia here with a fun "any occasion" card!

First, I stamped my images from Plane Awesome, Balloon Rides, Seasonal Tree, A Bird's Life and Meow & Furever onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and then I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color them in. I stamped the first part of the sentiment "flying by to say.." straight onto the little banner. I love having cards for different occasions on hand, so I just left the inside of the card blank and I can stamp the second part of the sentiment to match the occasion I want to use it for later when I am sending the card!

Inks used: Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Kitsch Flamingo. Zig Markers used: 999; 202; 64, 68; 52, 31, 37; 803, 80; 904, 95.

I die cut the Slimline Scalloped Frame dies out of Bristol cardstock as well. I added the scalloped piece to a card base that is slightly smaller, so that the scalloped edge stands out more. Then, I ink blended the stitched panel using Distress Oxide inks and a cloud stencil! I added shimmery splatters, as well as colored splatters for more interest.

I adhered my background to my card and then I added all my cute images! Finally, to add lots of shine, I added Stickles to all the little clouds!
