Sneak Peek Week: Cheerful Daisies, Frilly Frames & Eyelet Lace Borders

Hello and welcome to day 2 of our Spring Sneak Peek Week!  All this week I am showcasing cards using our newest collection which will begin shipping on Friday, January 10th

Today's sneak peeks include a new 4x6 layering stamp set for Spring, matching dies and two new standalone die sets. Let's jump right in!

Card No. 1:  Our newest layering set is a gerber daisy called Cheerful Daisies.  Everytime I see them I can't help but think of the Meg Ryan line in You've Got Mail where she says, "Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?"

For all my cards today I stamped them assembly line style using the two corners of my MISTI stamping tool and going through all the layers color by color at the same time to save time with lining things up.  The good news though is that this daisy only has two layers for the petal portion so it's fairly easy to line up and easy to find two colors that compliment each other. I have still made sure to include my ink colors used for this card and all the cards at the bottom of my post just in case though.  :)

To create this particular card, I inked up my background with distress inks and then spritzed on water to create the speckled look. I then set to work randomly arranging my flowers and leaves making sure to run some off the edge that I then clipped off with my scissors.  For my sentiment, I heat embossed my "happy spring" greeting onto vellum using white embossing powder and then framed it with our Fancy Frames Circle Dies.  This is one of my favorite ways to adhere vellum because I can hide my adhesive on the outer ring and there's no messy glue showing behind my sentiment.  As a final little touch, I used one of the scalloped borders from our new Eyelet Lace Border dies.

Card No. 2:  For my next card, I used another die from that same Eyelet Lace Border dies set to create my background pattern. I drew some light pencil lines using my clear grid ruler and then repeatedly ran the daisy cutout die through my machine to create an overall pattern. I then erased my pencil lines and added some strips of tone-on-tone paper to the back from our new Spring Fling Paper pack. I actually had a bunch of 1/2" strips leftover from making other cards so I was really happy to find a way to use them all and I adore the sweet romantic look that it created.

For my daisy bouquet, I stamped some stems using our Timeless Tulips Stamps and then tied some twine around them before adhering them to my card front.  As a final touch I heat embossed the word "hello" from our Chubby Bunny Stamps onto a tag from our Sweet Treats Bag Die using a scrap from our Very Merry Paper pack.

Card No. 3:  Up next is another bouquet, this time using our Vintage Jar stamps and those same stems from our Timeless Tulip stamps. To frame my scene I created a lacy scalloped mat using the outer portion of our newest Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace dies.  I then stamped a sentiment from our new Pink Peonies Stamps (which will be shared more on Thursday) and mounted my entire panel onto a piece of rainbow heart patterned paper from our new Spring Fling Paper pack.
Sunny Studio Blog: Best Wishes Rainbow Ombre Gerber Daisy Bouquet Wedding Card (using Cheerful Daisies & Vintage Jar Stamps, Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace Dies & Spring Fling 6x6 Paper)

Card No. 4:  For this card, I arranged my colorful daisies around one of the scalloped frames from our Fancy Frames Square dies which I then stamped with a greeting from our Color Me Happy Stamps.  I scattered some simple White Pearls for some added interest and then added a lacy scalloped edge from our Eyelet Lace Border dies.  I love the way the bright daisies pop against the kraft background!
Sunny Studio Blog: You Color My World Rainbow Gerber Daisy Card (using Cheerful Days Stamps, Fancy Frames Square & Eyelet Lace Border Dies)

Card No. 5:  Up next is a card that uses the interior portion of the Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace dies in a unique way. I turned the background die on it's side and ran it through my machine twice, overlapping it by one row the second time to help line things up and create a continuous background pattern.  It's yet another fun way to stretch your supplies!  I then added a small strip of polka-dot print by heat embossing the pattern onto a piece of black cardstock using our Background Basics Stamps

For my daisy stems I was feeling too lazy to stamp them so I simply used the coordinating Timeless Tulips dies to cut them from some green cardstock instead which I think worked well and saved me a little time. My greeting from the set was stamped onto a piece of striped teal paper from our Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper pack and then cut into a pennant shape using our Fishtail Banner dies.
Sunny Studio Blog: Layered Daisy Hello Spring Handmade Card (using Cheerful Daisy & Background Basics Stamps, Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace & Fishtail Banner Die and Dots & Stripes Pastel Paper)

Card No. 6: For my last card of the day, I stamped some white daisies.  To do this I skipped the bottom layer and just stamped the top layer directly onto the coordinating die-cuts.  I love bold complimentary color schemes so I turned to red cardstock to go with my green leaves and the green grid print from our Gingham Jewel Tones Paper pack.  To leave room for my sentiment, I cut the scalloped panel from our Frilly Frames Eyelet Lace dies in half, before running in through my die-cutting machine again with the inside portion of the eyelet lace die.  I then heat embossed my sentiment in white using our Everyday Greetings stamps and taped the two sides back together, hiding the seam beneath my daisies.

To help you line up our Cheerful Daisies stamps like a pro I've created a special layering guide (you can click on the photo below to view it larger).  The guide shows the stamps starting with the lightest ink color, working towards the darkest, but sometimes I find it easier to start backwards. They both work depending on what your preference is.  The black outline indicates where that layer touches the previously stamped layer.  :)

Sneak Peek: Introducing Spring Showers, Spring Scenes & Floating By

Hello and welcome to the first day of our Spring Sneak Peek Week!  All this week I am showcasing cards using our newest collection which will begin shipping on Friday, January 10th

Today's sneak peeks include two new 4x6 stamp sets, one mini 2x3 stamp set, their dies and 9 cards to inspire you using them.  Are you ready to dive in? You might want to go grab that second cup of coffee.  It's a long one.  ;)

Card No. 1:  For my first card of the day I created a grid style design using the largest window cut from our new Spring Fling paper using our Comic Strip Speech Bubbles dies. I then edged each rectangle with a scalloped border using our new Eyelet Lace Border dies (to be shared more later this week).  Our new Spring Showers stamps come with four kids that can hold a wide array of accessories that come in the set like umbrellas, kites and butterfly nets.  It also includes three adorable new cloud shapes which are quickly becoming a favorite of mine for scene building.  I finished my card with my sentiment heat embossed in white combining the "fluttering by to say" phrase from the Spring Showers set with the "happy birthday" greeting from our Happy Thoughts stamps.

Card No. 2: Up Next is a card using the same adorable kids from our Spring Showers stamps together with our newest scene builder stamps called Spring Scenes. This park background with lamp post, tree and bench is so versatile! The set also includes two additional trees in two different sizes to use with the park scene or all on their own.

I love how you can color the one "hill" in the border to look like a little river going below the walkway like I did here or it can be colored to look like a sidewalk or a green grassy hill.  For my card here, I colored my scene using Copic Markers in colors to match my strip of rainbow paper from our new Spring Fling Paper pack (to be shared more on Wednesday).

Card No. 3:  For my next card I used those same little trees with the new mountain range image and curved fence border from our Spring Scenes stamps.  For my foreground, I cut a crude mask to put over the fence line while I inked up the bottom half with Twisted Citron distress ink and then repeatedly stamped the grassy images from the set in a random pattern.  For the area directly behind my fence I found a couple of Copic markers that were close in color to the Twisted Citron and filled in that area that way since it needed a little more control around my white fence.

For my girl with the flowers and butterflies, I used images from our new Spring Showers stamps and stamped a custom punny sentiment using our new Kinsley Alphabet Stamps and a banner from our new Banner Basics Stamps (to also be shared more later this week).

Card No. 4:  For this card I wanted to create a clean and simple grid-style design showcasing the three fun critter umbrellas from our Spring Showers stamps. I inked up 4 scraps of paper in a rainbow of distress inks and then die-cut them using the largest stitched circle from our Staggered Circles die. I heated my sentiment in white and accented my card with some mini hearts from our Basic Mini Shaped Dies II set.  As a final finishing touch I blended those same four colors of Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron distress inks into a small strip of paper which I then die-cut with a loopy heart border from our new Heartstrings Border dies (which will also be fully unveiled later this week).

Card No. 5: Next up I have another card featuring the critter umbrellas, this time in a mini scene using the puddle from our Rain or Shine stamps.  For my background I inked up a card panel using a rainbow of distress inks and then when it was completely dry, I heat embossed our Rain Showers stamps in a repeat pattern over the top using some Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder.

To ground my little scene I created a scalloped mat using our Scalloped Square Tag dies.  To elongate them and turn them into a rectangle instead of a tag, I hung half my cardstock and die off the cutting pad surface when I ran it through my machine and then I flipped it over (finding where the die sort of locked into the previous cut scalloped edge) and repeated the process.  Such a great way to extend the life of these dies!

Card No. 6: For this card I used that same park scene from our new Spring Scenes stamps, but this time I colored the extra little hill to look like a sidewalk.  I played with a bunch of different positions for my girl holding the chick umbrella (stamped using our Spring Showers set), but in the end I thought it might be fun to have her stand on the bench (rather than block the view of it more by standing in front of it).  This of course annoys my Japanese husband who wants to know where her parents are and why she's standing on the bench with her shoes on. Makes me laugh.  I once again stamped my greeting using one of the banners from our new Banner Basics set which will again be fully unveiled later this week.

Card No. 7: For my last card using the Spring Showers stamps, I paired the boy from the set with our new balloon bouquet from our new Floating By stamps.  To frame my vignette I used our Fancy Frames Rectangle dies which I mounted onto one of my favorite patterns from our new Spring Fling paper pack. I heat embossed my sentiment onto a banner stamped with our new Banner Basics set and then added a scattering of Rainbow Dot Confetti to continue the festive feel.

Card No. 8: For this card showcasing the Floating By stamps I paired them with the cute doggie from Party Pups and the graduation cap from Woo Hoo. I then freehanded the little strings tied around his belly using my Copic Multiliner pen.

My background was created using the outside frame from our Frilly Frames Hexagon dies which I masked off with Therm-o-web's purple tape and inked the inside with Broken China distress ink.  To form my cloudy background, I used our Fluffy Clouds dies and then stamped my sentiment onto pennants from our Fancy Frames Rectangle dies.  My greeting was created using the word "congrats" from our Everything's Rosy set and the phrase "so proud of you" from the Team Player set.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Congrats to the Grad Red, White & Black Dog Graduation Card (using Party Pups, Floating By, Everythings Rosy, Woo Hoo Stamps and Frilly Frames, Fluffy Clouds and Fancy Frames Dies)

Card No. 9: For my last card of the day using the Floating By stamps I couldn't help but try and recreate the scene from the movie Up.  To mimic the look I turned to our Happy Home Stamps which I tried my best to color in similar bright happy colors to match the look of the movie and then paired it with three bundles of balloons.  I then used our Fluffy Cloud Border dies and stamped my cloud border with a personalized sentiment using our new Kinsley Alphabet and Phoebe Alphabet stamps (to be unveiled fully on Friday).Sunny Studio Blog: Things Are Looking Up House with Floating Balloons Card (using Happy Home, Floating By, Kinsley Alphabet & Phoebe Alphabet Stamps and Fluffy Clouds Border Die)

Phew! That was a whole lot of information and I truly appreciate you hanging out with me today.
