Sock Hop Diner Style Card with Eloise

Hi everyone, Eloise here today and I'm here making a fun Diner style card using more images from the Sock Hop stamp set. I love this set, it's so super fun and as soon as I found out about this stamp set I had the idea of using the picnic blanket from the Summer Picnic set as the Diner floor.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sock Hop Jukebox & 1950's Diner Inspired Card by Eloise Blue.

To begin my card today I started off with the floor since I knew it would be the most time consuming part. For this I used my MISTI tool but by all means you could do this with an acrylic block, I just found it a little easier using this tool. Since the picnic blanket image has some extra lines at the bottom to make it look thicker, I had to do some masking to make sure this didn't disrupt my image stamping. Since it was straight though, I just used some post it notes for this, but you could use just about anything. So I stamped down my first image in the left hand bottom corner of the card, then I would clean off my stamp and reposition it next to the part I just stamped. I would then use my post it notes to mask off the outer edges of my already stamped image and then stamp down again.  When I finished my bottom layer of stamping, I moved my stamp above and stamped again until the background was completed. I hope this is making sense.

Once the floor was stamped, I also stamped out the little characters in the set along with the jukebox, guitar and music notes. I then coloured all these elements in with some Copic Markers. Once they were coloured, I die-cut them out.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sock Hop Jukebox & 1950's Diner Inspired Card by Eloise Blue.

For the top portion of my tiled background I decided to make it red. So I masked off the tiles at the bottom and used a couple of red Distress Inks to ink blend the top of the panel. For the sentiment I used the 'What's Shakin'?' sentiment from the same Sock Hop stamp set and white heat embossed it onto a piece of black cardstock. Now it's time to arrange my card. I adhered down all the images using some foam adhesive for added dimension, along with the sentiment. I then popped up the entire panel on a sheet of fun foam and then adhered it down onto a card base and that finished up my card.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my card today and got inspired. I had a lot of fun making this card today and I love it when stamps can be used in various different ways. Make sure you check out the blog this week to see how everyone else used this stamp set.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Baby Bear Card with Stephanie Klauck

Hello everyone, it's Stephanie here and I'm thrilled to be back on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog with a baby card that I created with the new Baby Bear stamp set. As soon as I saw this stamp set I knew that I would be making a ton of baby themed card with it. There are so many great images and sentiments that work so great together.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sweet Bundle Baby Card by Stephanie Klauck (using Baby Bear & Summer Picnic)

To create my card I first created a background scene with Bristol cardstock and 3 shades of Distress ink (Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron). I die-cut all of the pieces and then I added the colour with an ink blending tool. Once I had them all inked up, I spritzed some water onto all of the pieces and then dabbed it up with a paper towel to create some texture.

I stamped and coloured all of the images that I wanted to use in the scene and then I cut them out with my scissors. I also stamped, coloured and cut out the tree from the Summer Picnic stamp set to use in the scene.

I added some twine from behind the tree and adhered the baby bear wrapped in the blanket onto it and then I padded the rest of the bears in the grass. I stamped the sentiment directly on the card front and then I added some clear sequins to complete the card.

Thanks so much for joining me on the blog today!

Inspiration Week: Introducing Sock Hop 1950's Inspired Set

I thought today when never arrive.  I have been so excited to finally share some cards using one of my favorite stamp sets from the release (who am I kidding though, they're all my favorites).  The set is called Sock Hop and it includes iconic pop culture images from the 50's with a playful twist.

Up first is a card focusing on the poodle skirt wearing dog, the Letterman sweater wearing cat and the little ice cream soda images from the set.  I didn't have room to include a table when creating the stamps so I created my own table by using the tree trunk from Summer Picnic as my table base and tracing two oval shadow die-cuts with a sharpie from the Sunny Borders die set to form my table top.  For my black and white tile I drew my own floor using this post by Sandy Allnock as inspiration.

I heat embossed a scalloped border in white on black cardstock using the Sunny Borders Stamps and Dies and then repeated the ice cream soda motif on some cardstock inked up with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sock Hop 1950's Inspired Card by Mendi Yoshikawa

Up next is a card focusing on the fun car from the set.  I love that it can fit the critters in the car--They almost remind me of a set of kids riding along in a 1950's Pedal Car.
To set my scene I loosely sketched out my street in pencil, fussy cut it out, erased the pencil lines and then inked it up with Black Soot Distress ink.  Before adhering it to my card I inked up a panel in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn and then added some texture with my Copic Markers.  When I was done I cut off a little wavy portion along the top to form my horizon and adhered it to my card base which had been inked up Tumbled Glass ink.  To complete my scene I added trees to the background from our Happy Home stamp set.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Sock Hop 1950's Inspired Card by Mendi Yoshikawa

Up next is a card spotlighting the cute jukebox from the set.  I thought it would be fun to use the checkered blanket from our Summer Picnic set to form my black & white tiled floor.  This is a great option if you're nervous drawing your own.  I'm sure there is a great way to mask it off to repeat the design, but in the end I decided to stamp 4 of them and just cut them out (which is so easy to do with the straight lines) and then to adhere them on the card so that they formed one continuous design.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sock Hop 1950's Inspired Card by Mendi Yoshikawa

For my last card I used Silhouette's Circle Burst cutting file.  I opened it up in the Silhouette software and then added a 4.25 x 5.5 rectangle over the top.  I used the align commands to center them together and then trimmed it to leave just the areas where the two shapes overlapped. It left me with these rays which were so easy to quickly cut out and apply to my card panel.

I then stitched through the center of each ray with my sewing machine and covered up the messy intersection with a 3-1/2" wide circle cut from white cardstock.  For my kitty image I added the sunglasses and guitar accessories from the set and one of the fun retro sentiments from the set.

Here's an official look at the new Sock Hop set with the coordinating dies.  I spent quite a bit of time researching popular catch phrases from the decade and had a blast creating this one.  I hope you like it.  :)

Inspiration Week: Introducing Baby Bear Set with Giveaway

Hello & welcome to day 2 of our new release preview week!  Today I'm super excited to reveal a fun new set celebrating babies called Baby Bear!

Up first is a card combining the new set with the tree from Summer Picnic, the grass from Sunny Sentiments and the ric-rac border die from Sunny Borders.
Sunny Studio Stamps: Baby Bear Sweet Bundle Clothesline Card by Mendi Yoshikawa

For my next card I had fun using those same outfits to dress my little trio of bears in.  For my card base I cut two medium hearts from our Stitched Heart Dies, inking up the top one to match my images colored with copics.

This set comes with several small companion images to stamp on the front of the bibs and onesies and I used the little heart to stamp a repeated pattern for my background.  I finished off my card with my sentiment heat embossed on a banner from our Sunny Borders stamp set.

For my next project I focused on the chunky diaper pin for a fun, graphic card.  To add a little interest, I stitched around each block on my sewing machine, popped up each pin with foam tape and added glossy accents to the colored portion of the pin.

The stamp set comes with bottles, sippy cups and pacifiers as larger standalone images as well as smaller versions to accessorize the bears.  I chose to use both versions by stamping a subtle repeat background for this sweet unisex baby card.

For my next card, I created another clothesline card pairing the bibs, onesies and socks with the cloud dies from our Sunny Sentiments and Rain or Shine die sets.

For my last card I created a baby blanket from the picnic blanket from the Summer Picnic Set.  I also stamped an extra set of feet to cut out so that I could fit a onesie on the sitting bear.

The patchwork border was created with a new square die that is not available for purchase, but that we are giving away free with all orders placed throughout the month of July.  I have been searching for the perfect sized die to create this look for quite some time now so I'm super excited to finally have one.  I can created a printable PDF for this card with step by step instructions HERE.

My sentiment was stamped with our new Sweet Shoppe stamp set that will be unveiled tomorrow. ;)

This set was designed with pint sized bears to compliment the larger bears from Sending My Love and Comfy Creatures.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Summer Picnic Card with Stephanie Klauck

Hello everyone, it's Stephanie here with a card to share using the awesome Summer Picnic stamp set. This is a great stamp set for spring and summer and includes a lot of great images to create endless card designs.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Picnic Card by Stephanie Klauck.

To create my card, I first stamped all of the images that I wanted to use onto a piece of white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then I coloured them in with Copic markers. I coloured the picnic blanket and the napkin to match, using aquas and greys and then I coloured the tree and all of the food items in a traditional colour scheme. Once I had all of the colouring done, I cut out the images using my scissors and set them aside to create my background panel.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Picnic Card by Stephanie Klauck.

To create the background I used Cracked Pistachio, Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers ink and blended them all together on the right side of the cardstock panel. Once the inking was done, I spritzed water onto the panel and then covered it with a paper towel to soak up the water leaving water spots in the ink. I love the look of this and think it adds so much texture to a background.

I let the panel dry for a few minutes and then I adhered all of the images to create my picnic scene. I positioned everything to the right side of the card like I had done with the ink and then I trimmed off the parts of the images that went over the side of the panel. I finished the card by stamping the sentiment under the picnic blanket and also stamped a couple of ants in the scene.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Summer Picnic & Comfy Creatures Birthday Picnic Card with Lexa

Hi everyone. Lexa here today with a super fun mix of sets, Summer Picnic and Comfy Creatures. I think both of these sets are a match made in heaven. They go together really, really well. As in this card, the panda and his fellow monkey are having a picnic together under the apple tree.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Picnic & Comfy Creatures Birthday Card by Lexa Levana.

I started with a 4.25" x 5.5" neenah solar white as my card base and die cut the stitched curve on the top and the bottom. After I got the middle part, I started to blend some Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink from the top towards the middle for my sky. I stamped all my images with black ink, I use Versafine Onyx Black, because I will watercolor all of them with Distress Markers.

One of the best things about working with clear stamps is you can bend your stamps as I did with this card, I bent the "happy birthday" and "from the whole gang" to follow the curve. And the happiest part about making a scene is to arrange them all together..haha.. I adhered some of them with glue and the others with mounting tapes so you can see some dimensions here and there.

I hope you like my card for today! Have a wonderful weekend to all my crafty friends. :)

Comfy Creatures & Summer Picnic Panda Card by Vanessa

Hi sweet Sunny Studio fans! Vanessa here with a cute panda card combining Summer Picnic and Comfy Creatures

I love that the sets work all so well together!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Comfy Creatures & Summer Picnic Let's Do Lunch Panda Card by Vanessa Menhorn.

I started with a white card base and softly inked the bottom left area with pink dye ink. Then I added tiny drops of pink and white ink with a brush. Now I die-cut a picnic blanket from plaid patterned paper, trimmed it and adhered it to the card. I stamped, colored and die-cut the images and adhered them (using foam tape for some). Finally, I stamped the sentiment.

Summer Picnic & Comfy Creatures Monkey Shaker Card with Lindsey

Hi!  Lindsey here today sharing a fun shaker card combining two adorable sets, Comfy Creatures and Summer Picnic. These two sets work so well together. I mean, who better to go on a fun picnic than some adorable critters. My card features two cute little monkeys having a tree top picnic. Let's get started on how I created this card.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Summer Picnic and Comfy Creatures Monkey Shaker Card by Lindsey Sams.

To get started, I stamped the tree from Summer Picnic three times in a row. I only stamped the top of the tree because that's where I wanted the monkeys to have their picnic. I had to mask the tree in the middle, so I could overlap the tree top on either side. I colored the tree tops with Copic markers and fussy cut the tree panel out. Next I stamped two of the sitting critter bodies from Comfy Creatures. Then, I stamped one of each of the cute little monkey faces on top of the bodies. I also stamped two soda bottles for the monkeys to enjoy at their picnic. I colored all the images with Copic markers. I fussy cut the monkeys and used the coordinating die from Summer Picnic for the soda bottles.

In order to create a shaker card I needed a frame, so I cut one from some Kraft cardstock. I then attached a piece of acetate behind the frame so you could see thru to the background and shaker bits. I attached all of my colored images to the front of the frame on top of the acetate and Kraft cardstock. I just used a tape runner for everything except the soda bottle in the front. I popped it up with a little foam tape. For the background, I used a piece of white cardstock that I blended some blue print distress ink on. I also added my sentiment from Summer Picnic and some stars from the Star Border die.

I added a double layer of foam tape to the back of the frame panel and layed it on top of my background panel which had the shaker bits laying on top of it. By doing this, I trapped the sequins and beads inside so they could now move around.

That's it for me today! I hope you'll check back to the blog for more inspiration, and I can't wait to see what ideas you come up with. Have a great day!

Summer Picnic: Relax Card with Anni

Hey stampers, Anni here!   It's another tuesday and I am here to show you another card! This week we are featuring the cute set Summer Picnic.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Relax Apple Tree Card by Anni (using Summer Picnic & Fishtail Banners)

This set is so versatile! It has all the yummy food in it but also this beautiful tree I knew I wanted to use for this card.  And the cute little apple is just the little extra a card needs. I love that Mendi adds those smiley faces to a lot of her sets. That's so cute and I was able to make my apple smile!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Relax Apple Tree Card by Anni (using Summer Picnic & Fishtail Banners)

As always I started by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting the tree and the apple from the set. To create a "stage" for the tree I cut a banner from white cardstock, To make it a little bit more interesting I used the Fishtail Banners dies. They are so great, don't you think? And the scalloped one is my favorite.

I added some ink blending in green for the grass and in turquoise for the sky!
I adhered the banner to my card base and finished the card with some faux stitching.

Thanks for stopping by and have a sunny week.

Comfy Creatures Bananas For You Monkey Card with Vanessa

Hey everybody!  Vanessa here with a happy banana card :)

The Comfy Creatures set is so cute with its adorable images and fun sentiments. Here is my card for today:

Sunny Studio Stamps: Comfy Creatures & Summer Picnic Bananas For You Monkey Card by Vanessa Menhorn

I started with a panel of watercolor paper that I had trimmed slightly smaller than a Kraft card base. I stamped the banana from the Comfy Creatures set and the banana from Summer Picnic repeatedly using archival ink, colored the panel with Peerless Watercolors and adhered it to the card. Now I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment onto a strip of turquoise cardstock and adhered it with foam tape. I stamped, colored and die-cut the head and the tail of the monkey and adhered them. Finally, I added yellow sequins to the card.

Sunny Saturday Share: All Occasion Cards for Spring & Summer

For all you scrapbookers out there, may I wish you a Happy National Scrapbook Day!  I am currently at a 3-day crop that I have participated in for the past 8 years with my local craft store.  It's 14 hours a day of pure crafting happiness and historically I have finished 20% of my scrapbooking for the year in that 3 day period (with a couple weeks of massive prepping ahead of time).  Unfortunately I didn't have the luxury of much prep time this year so I will just be happy to be doing some scrapbooking.  It's always loads of fun and I'm thrilled to have some girly time away from my computer.  ;)

I have been seeing some wonderful projects out on social media in the past couple of weeks and I'm super excited to share a few of them with you today!
