Guest Designer Spotlight: Sliding Window Card & Video with Laura Sterckx

Hi everybody! It's Laura Sterckx here from Making Cards Is Fun and I'm glad to be back with another guest post on the Sunny Studio blog. When Mendi showed me the Fall 2018 Release I fell head over heels in love. The first set that spoke to me was the Home Sweet Gnome set. Just look at those adorable images and the fun sentiments. 

I decided to pair up the Home Sweet Gnome set with the Sliding Window die to create a cute pop up card. I stepped out of my comfort zone with this card since I usually stick to clean and simple designs. Thankfully, this die made it so easy and fast!

I colored images from the Home Sweet Gnome set with Copic Sketch Markers and added sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen and a coat of Tonic Nuvo Crystal Glaze. 

For my sentiment, I paired together two stamps from the gnome set and heat embossed them with Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from WOW. Finally, I applied Tonic Nuvo Drops here and there.

Comic Strip Everyday Dies Congrats On Your New Home Card with Lexa

Hello everyone! Lexa here today with the versatile brand new dies from Sunny Studio, Comic Strip Everyday Dies. As it's name says, it literally looks like a comic strip which you can use anytime. You can use it portrait or landscape, the only limit is your imagination. Let's get started.

First, I cut all of the elements in the set and watercolored each piece with the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor pallete. I love the vibrant colors it gave me. I know that it's a little bit tricky with all those tiny pieces but here's the tips I can give you. Don't pop out all of the pieces as soon as you cut them. I find it easier to color them first. Despite the extra work, I really did enjoy putting all of the pieces together and building the little scenes within every square. 

To create the background, I used the same watercolor. It's so much fun! I used the sentiment from an older set, Happy Home Stamps, to complete my card. How do you like the watercolor look on this card? Another idea is to use solid color cardstocks or patterned paper for each element. I'd love to see how imaginative you could be.

Sliding Window Fall Themed What's Up Gnomie Card with Vanessa

Hi everyone! Vanessa here today with a card using the popular Sliding Window Dies. I love this die as much as everybody else obviously does! 

First, I inked a panel of white cardstock with green and blue inks to create my background and drew grass with Copics. Then I die-cut the sliding window and assembled it with a brown panel for the sliding part. After I had adhered the panel to my Kraft cardbase, I stamped all the cute images from Home Sweet Gnome, Happy Harvest and Barnyard Buddies onto white cardstock. I colored everything with Copics, die-cut the elements with the matching dies and adhered them to the card.

For the inside, I die-cut the label from brown woodgrain patterned paper from the Amazing Argyle 6x6 pad, stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment and adhered it to the card. I didn't add adhesive to the top part of the label, so the little scene stands securely when its bottom edge is tucked behind it.

These little gnomies have stolen my heart! I can't stand those things in some gardens, but this set is just too adorable!
