Sneak Peek: Woolly Friends Stamps & Sydney Alphabet Dies

Hello, and welcome to day 4 of our Spring Sneak Peek Week!  All this week I am sharing cards showcasing our newest collection, which will be available for purchase this Friday!

Card No.1: Today, I am sharing ideas featuring our adorable Woolly Friends Stamps and Dies, which include five adorable sheep, a versatile new picket fence border, an Easter basket, and a variety of cute sentiments. For my first card, I used two of the sheep together with the basket of eggs and stacked two of the fence borders to create a continuous border that would bleed off the edge of my 5.5" wide card. For the background, I added a border of trees using the Country Scenes Stamps, and stamped one of the punny greetings onto a shortened pennant strip from the Notebook Photo Corners Dies and a floral patterned paper from the Flirty Flowers Paper pack.

Card No. 2: For my second card, I created a vertical birthday card using Woolly Friends Stamps. For my background this time, I added the hollow tree and fence border from our Fall Scenes Stamps, but colored the leaves for spring in fresh green tones — I love that I can get extra life out of these stamps for other seasons just by coloring them differently. I added the new fence border to the foreground and framed the scene using our Stitched Rectangle Dies, which I shortened ever so slightly to match the width of the fence stamped image by running them through my die-cutting machine a second time. I then mounted the entire scene onto a piece of green gingham paper from the Gingham Pastels Paper pack.

Card No.3: I have one last Spring scene-style card today featuring the sheep & Easter basket from the Woolly Friends Stamps, which I paired with our 6x6 Majestic Meadow Stamps. These wonderful, large background stamps take all the work out of dreaming up the perfect backdrop or card design, and I love them! All I had left to do was add my greeting, which I made by combining the words from the Woolly Friends Stamps, spelling out the word "Easter with our new Sydney Alphabet Dies, and using the word "ewe" that comes with the Woolly Friends Dies.

Card No. 4: Switching gears a bit, I have a clean & simple card with a more graphic feel, using the Woolly Friends Stamps. I started by cutting four Zig Zag Circle Dies cut from a pastel rainbow of polka-dot prints from the Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper pack. I then framed them with a simple Stitched Square Die cut from white cardstock and matted with a 5" square cut from a rainbow stripe patterned paper from the Spring Sunburst Paper pack. Lastly, I stamped a punny greeting from the set onto a Brilliant Banner 1 Die, which had been cut from yellow prints from the same Dots & Stripes Paper Pack and Gingham Pastels Paper packs.

Card No.5: For my last card of the day, I couldn't resist using the fence and sheep from the set to create a "counting sheep" night scene card with the Woolly Friends Stamps. I kept my design fairly simple, just adding a Radiating Circle Die inked with Mermaid Lagoon, Prize Ribbon, & Chipped Sapphire before heat embossing it with the phrase "I love you to the moon and back" from our Lovey Dovey Stamps. Lastly, to finish my scene, I added the moon (mirrored) and stars from our Scaredy Cat Stamps, and some white star dots in the distance with a while gel pen.

Foxy Friends Card with Amanda

Hey crafty friends! It’s Amanda here with you on the Sunny Studio blog today! I’m excited to share this cute little Fall card with you!

I love making a scene card and this one might be one of my favs! I loove loove loooove the Foxy Friends Stamps, so I decided to use them to create a Fall scene!

I started by stamping my background from the Fall Scenes Stamps onto a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4.25” x 5.5”. On another piece of white cardstock, I stamped the images from the Foxy Friends Stamps. I also stamped the rake and leaves from the Fall Scenes Stamps.

I colored the background scene and all the stamped images with Copic markers. Here are the markers I used:

Grass: BG90, YG91, YG93
Leaves: Y00, Y02, Y23, Y35, Y38, YR16
Tree trunk: 331, E23, E25, E27
Fence: W2, W5
Sky: BG90, BG93
Fox: YR30, YR21, YR24, YR27, E50, E55, R20, R32, W1, W5, W8
Pumpkin: BG72, BG75, BG78, G21, G24, G94, Y02, Y38, E21, E25
Wagon: E04, E08, T2, T5, T8, E39, E97
Rake: E25, E59, N1, N5

After all the coloring was complete, I added some white highlights and dots using a white Gelly Roll pen. Then, I cut out the images using the coordinating die sets and my die cutting machine. I put 3D foam squares behind all of the images and then added them to my background scene. Finally, I glued the background panel to an A2 card base to complete the card!

Too Cute To Spook Halloween Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some fall scene cards featuring our Too Cute To Spook Stamps with dramatic inky backgrounds.

My first card pairs the kitty in the pumpkin from the Scaredy Cat Stamps with the haunted house, tree, bat, and "Happy Halloween!" greeting from the Too Cute To Spook Stamps. I inked my entire background using Picked Raspberry distress ink to create my dramatic background with the pink moon and purple sky. I then cut a circle mask using the Stitched Circle Large Dies to cover where I wanted my moon to go before inking around the mask with Wilted Violet distress ink. When I had the background adequately inked. I cut random holes in my mask with scissors to ink the craters in my moon, before inking again with a smaller brush using a darker layer of the Picked Raspberry. I then spritzed the entire piece with water.. When it was dry, I added white stars with my gel pen and stamped the spooky tree from the set four times around the haunted manor with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Lastly, I cut the stitched hillside from black cardstock using the Slimline Nature Border Dies, heat embossed my greeting in white, and added the cat to the foreground.

For my second card showcasing the Too Cute To Spook Stamps, I paired three of the critters in costumes from the set, with the moon from the Scaredy Cat Stamps, the haunted house border and bats from the Fall Scenes Stamps, and the "Happy Halloween" sentiment from the Happy Howl-o-ween Stamps. For my moody cloud background, I started by inking up white cardstock with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and added in some clouds using masks I had cut out using the Fluffy Cloudy Border Dies with Prize Ribbon and then Chipped Sapphire ink along the outside edges. Finally, I layered in clouds cut using the Tulip Path Background Dies, which I colored with those same inks. 

I should note that I originally stamped and cut out the haunted house border using the coordinating dies, but later decided to fussy cut them out, cutting off the trees and fence to make things easy on myself since the other images in the border were pretty straight and easy. However, I then stamped the images again directly onto my background with the nice dark and bold VersaFine Onyx Black Ink so that the trees and fence would be there to just layer my fussy cut image over the top of and have them all seamlessly line up. I could have tried to color around the die-cut images with Copics to match them to my background, like I have done for other cards, but this felt easier, and I think it added extra drama to my scene by not having any white edges.
