Window Trio Heart Die Focused Cupcake Card with Nicky

Happy New Year everyone! This is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog and I'm sharing a card that was created using the Window Trio Hearts Portrait Die. No hearts here though! Instead, I used the die in a different way and created a sweet cupcake card. Read on for all the details.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Window Trio Heart Die Focused Love Themed Card by Nicky Meeks (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies, Fancy Frame Rectangle Dies, Quilted Hearts Embossing Folder)

I took an A2 white panel of cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the Quilted Hearts Embossing Folder. I applied this panel to my card base which was larger. Over this embossed background I attached a pink frame popped up on foam tape. I used the Fancy Frames Rectangle Die to do this.

Using the same pink cardstock from the frame plus four other pastel shades from my cardstock scraps, I die-cut the cupcake images from Window Trio Hearts Portrait Die and assembled them with glue.

I backed each cupcake with foam tape and applied them to the background in a grid pattern but tipped them playfully left and right when positioning them.

Using the same cardstock colours I took the Chloe Alphabet Die and die-cut the SWEET sentiment. Each coloured letter was backed with two white letters and I glued them all in stacks for some nice dimension. I glued these into position and then went through my Sunny stamps and found the word 'you're' and stamped that on a little sentiment strip and applied using foam tape.

To finish the card I added a tiny sparkling clear sequin to the top of each cupcake and then the project was complete and ready to mail off to someone very sweet indeed!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and happy crafting!

Designer's Choice: Snowman Kisses Card with Nicky

Hi! This is Nicky with you today on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog and I hope everyone has been enjoying their holidays these past few days. I'm sharing a card I made and sent to a family member in the UK where we say Happy Christmas (Xmas) almost more than we say Merry Christmas, hence the sentiment. Read on for all the details.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Snowman Kisses Winter Themed Christmas Card by Nicky Meeks (featuring Slimline Nature Border Dies, Chloe Alphabet Dies, Dotted Diamond Dies)

Inspired by peppermint and candy canes I selected to use pinks, white and reds for this project. I took a panel of pink cardstock and I die cut it using the Dotted Diamond Portrait Die. I backed this panel with white craft foam and applied it to an A2 white panel and then to my card base.

I used the Slimline Nature Borders Die to create some snow to ground the snowmen and glued it in place.

I stamped the snowmen from Snowman Kisses and coloured with the following Copic marker combinations:

Snowmen - C3, C1, C0
Red - R59, R39, R29
Pink Cheeks - RV63, RV52, RV00
Black - T9, T6, T5, T4
Brown - E49, E77, E44, E43
Green - YG45

I used a white gel pen to add designs to the scarf and highlight certain points to make them pop and then I die cut the images using the coordinating Snowman Kisses Die. Each image was backed with foam tape and applied to the background.

For the bold sentiment I used the Chloe Alphabet Die. I die cut the required letters once from red cardstock and twice from sturdy white cardstock and glued the letters in stacks with the red top layer slightly offset to the right so the white underneath acts as a highlight. I used some of the red Copic markers listed above to add shading to the lettering so that it had a more 3D appearance and then I glued the letters in place.

The finishing touch was to add some playful snowflake embellishments throughout the scene and I highlighted the sentiment and then this card was ready to send!

Thank you for coming by the blog today and I wish you all a very happy new year!

Guest Designer Spotlight: Fall Themed Cards with Sara Zoppi

Hi crafty friends, Sara here! Today I am so happy and grateful to be here again, guesting for Sunny Studio Stamps! And today I have two cards featuring some of the recent released fall products. So, let's dive into the first one!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Autumn Garland Cards by Sara Zoppi (featuring Holiday Hugs, Buffalo Plaid Dies)

Fall is around the corner and as soon as I saw the newest Autumn Garland Stamp set I fell in love and I knew I would have created a card with some unconventional fall colors. If you know me, you might know I am a big fan of the huge Sunny Studio critters and this bear included in the Holiday Hugs Stamp was the perfect match to this garland. So I firstly stamped the garland, the big bear and the small pinecone he is keeping using a dark brown copic friendly ink (Memento Espresso Truffle) and I started coloring everything with the copics listed below. I went for a desaturated palette, and I absolutely E08 loved the result.

- Bear: E44 – E43 – E42 – E40 – RV34 – R20
- Pinecone: E59 – E57 – E35 – E31
- Orange combo:– E97 – YR21
- Purple combo: RV69 – RV66 – V01
- Olive green combo: BG96 – YG95 – YG93
- Teal combo: BG78 – BG18 – BG72
- Berries: R89 – R56 – R35 – R43

I then die cut the images using Autumn Garland Dies and Holiday Hugs Dies and I moved into the background. I wanted a soft look and I decided to use the Buffalo Plaid Diagonal Die as a hot foil plate. This background die was perfect to get a light impression of foiling, I used a shining gold on white cardstock (every die can be used with the hot foil system, the look is really soft because the "lines" are really thin). I also white heat embossed the autumn word that comes from the
Autumn Garland Stamp set on some teal cardstock and I completed the sentiment with a purple "greetings". I arranged the colored images and the sentiment on the background.

To complete the card, I matted the foiled panel (which is slightly smaller than 4,25"x5,5") with a purple coordinated cardstock and then with a 6"x4,75" white panel too. And here's the finished result!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Happy Howl-o-ween Cards by Sara Zoppi (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

My second and last inspiration for today is more "spooky" and features the Happy Howl-o-ween Stamp set.

This is an almost one layer card and I know it looks more "intimidating" because there is an hand drawn background. But I can assure you it is not soo hard to do. I firstly stamped the four Halloween dogs using some Judikins Masking Paper: I started with the two in the foreground and then moved into the back.

Then I colored everything with the copics listed below.

- Pumpkin: E08 – YR68 – E97 – YR15 – YR12 – YR21 | T7 – T4 – YR68 – Y13
- Dogs: T10 – T9 – T7 – T6 – T5 – E43 – E41
- Background: T10 – T8 – T7 – T5 – T4 – T3 – T2 – T1 – T0

For the background I firstly colored the sky, leaving a white hole as the moon. I then added layers of branches to create the wood.

I then trimmed the panel to 4"x5,25" and I decided to matt it with a 4, 5"x5,75" white panel in order to create a white frame around. For the sentiment, I die cut the word BOO with the Chloe Alphabet Dies (I die cut it twice from orange glitter cardstock and a black die cut with a small offset). I then added the white stripe with the orange "Happy Howl-o-ween" stamped sentiment. And here's the finished result!

Thanks for stopping by! I really hope you will like my projects and you will be inspired to create something!

Guest Designer Spotlight: Tropical Birds Cards with Sara Zoppi

Hi crafty friends, Sara here! Today I am really thrilled to be here again, guesting for Sunny Studio Stamps! And today I have two cards featuring the recent released Tropical Birds stamp set. So, let's dive into the first one!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Tropical Birds Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

Look, how cure are all those parrots? You might know I love playing with sentiments and customizing them, and that's what I did here. I knew I wanted to use the rainbow palette since the tropical birds are always so colorful, so I stamped all the parrots and I figured out how I would have arranged them from left to right.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Tropical Birds Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

I then colored them all using the Copics listed below and I die cut them with coordinating dies.

- First parrot: RV69 – RV66 – V04 – V01 – RV00 – YR61 – E000 – YR09
- Second parrot: YR09 – YR04 – Y38 – Y35 – Y11 – YG00
- Third parrot: YG17 – YG25 – YG23 – YG01 – YG00 – BG11 – BG23 – BG13
- Fourth parrot:  BG11 – BG23 – B69 – B66 – BV13 – BV01

Sunny Studio Stamps: Tropical Birds Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

I then moved into the background, which I wanted to keep simple. I took a piece of 4"x5.5" white cardstock and I stamped the branch included in the Tropical Birds stamp set with black ink: I also did some mirror stamping to create the right side of the branch. Then I die cut the word PARROT using the Chloe Alphabet dies and some coordinated colored cardstock; I arranged them below the branch and I attached the parrots using foam tape. To complete the card, I stamped the rest of the sentiment (which is included in the same set) with black ink and I matted the panel with one of the patterned sheet included in the Rainbow Bright 6x6 Paper. And here's the finished result!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Tropical Birds Card by Sara Zoppi

My second and last inspiration for today features the same Tropical Birds stamp set but I was inspired to create a scene with them.

You might recognize the background: I took inspiration from one of Sandy Allnock's copic coloring (Magical Rainforest), which was perfect to set the two toucans included in the set.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Tropical Birds Card by Sara Zoppi

I firstly hand drew the branch where the two toucans are sit and I stamped them with Memento Black ink. I colored everything with the Copics listed below, creating a one layer scene.

- Male toucan: 100 – C9 – BV29 – BV17 – YG00
- Female toucan: 100 – C9 – C7 – RV66 – Y00
- Toucans beaks: 100 – C8 – C7  C6 | YR68 – Y38 – Y19
- Background: 100 – C7 – E47 – YG17 – YG03 – YG97 – V04 – BG09 – BG18 – B000 – BG23 – BG11 – RV69 – RV14 – Y19 – Y38

I then trimmed the panel to 4,25"x5,5" and I decided to mat it with a 4,75"x6" white panel in order to create a white frame around. For the sentiment, I stamped it on two white strips and I attached them with foam tape below the branch. And here's the finished result!

Thanks for stopping by! I really hope you will like my projects and you will be inspired to create something! Hugs from Italy!

Designer's Choice: Cupcake Shape Die Focused Card with Nicky

Hello! This is Nicky with you on the Sunny blog today with a birthday card that uses the Cupcake Shape Dies.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Cupcake Shape Die Focused Birthday Cat Card by Nicky Meeks (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

To create this card, I took some sturdy white cardstock and I die cut the largest (outline) die twice because these pieces would form the front and back of the card. I used scissors to trim off the merest sliver from the bottom of the back cupcake panel so that the card wouldn't rock when it was standing upright on display. Also with this back panel I scored a line close to the top and applied ScorPal tape to the little section above the scored line and adhered the front and back of the card forms together. I then die cut most of the other elements from the die set from the same white cardstock and I began to colour all of the elements using Copic markers.

Cupcake Liner - RV17, RV06, RV13, RV21, RV000, RV0000
Cupcake Icing - E31, E51, E50
Cherry & Heart - R59, R39, R29, R27, R24
Cake - E24, E43, E42
Candle - RV21, W1, W0, W00, Y38, Y17, Y06

Sunny Studio Stamps: Cupcake Shape Die Focused Birthday Cat Card by Nicky Meeks (featuring Chloe Alphabet Dies)

I glued the coloured elements to the front of the card base and attached the heart, candle and cherry with foam tape. I die cut the sentiment using the Chloe Alphabet Die from white then gold cardstock and adhered the letters together slightly offset for a white 'shadow' and then glued the sentiment in place.

To finish the card I stamped the 'wish you a' portion of the sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat embossed in white and added the strip with foam tape.

I stamped the cat of my choosing from Birthday Cat with black ink and made her to be a ginger tabby by colouring with Copics in YR24, Y26, YR20 and E00. I die cut the image with the Birthday Cat Dies and applied the image with more foam tape.

Last but by no means least, I applied some blobs of glue in several places on the icing and then scattered on some multi-coloured embellishments from my stash. I tapped off any excess and then the card was complete.

See you next Friday with something new and thanks for stopping by to read today.

Juicy Watermelon Card with Leanne

Hello everyone! Leanne here and today I'm sharing a fun card that would be perfect for anyone with a summer birthday. I've always felt that watermelons are one of the most iconic fruits of the summer.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Juicy Watermelon Birthday Card by Leanne West (featuring Punny Fruit Greetings, Chloe Alphabet Dies)

I used the Juicy Watermelon die set to create a border of slices all the around the edges of my mini slimline card. My card base measures 6.25 inches long by 3.25 inches wide.  This size was perfect to allow for three slices along the top and bottom edges and one slice on the ends while leaving space for the greeting in the center.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Juicy Watermelon Birthday Card by Leanne West (featuring Punny Fruit Greetings, Chloe Alphabet Dies)

All the pieces for the watermelon slices where die cut from white card stock and then I used the following Catherine Pooler inks to color: Party Dress, Cranberry Fizz, Garden Party, Grass Skirt. I used a black Copic marker to color the area behind the little seed cut outs.

I splattered the card base with a little bit of red ink before I adhered the slices. I then used stamps from Punny Fruit Greetings and the Chloe Alphabet dies to create the birthday sentiment. Lastly, I added three tiny clay hearts.
