A Cut Above Card with Tina

Hi crafty friends, Tina here with a cute ‘school themed’ card using the fun A Cut Above layering stamp and die set.

As usual, I started with a white card base but this time I added extra texture to the front part by dry embossing with the Dapper Diamonds folder. Next, I cut a panel from an adorable ‘heart’ paper (Subtle Grey Tones) with the largest of the Scalloped Oval Mat 1 dies. I knew I wanted to use bright colors for my pencils and this neutral paper is the perfect background.

After selecting several ink pads from my stash, I started the layering stamping for the fun pencil. A great tip here is to use the black pictures on your packaging to position the stamps. You get a much better view of how to add the next layer. With so much colors on this card, I selected three cute panda bears (Panda Party) and colored them with my Copic markers.

My combined sentiment was taken from the Balloon Rides set and I masked of a part of the saying with post-it tape so it reads ‘Just a note’ now (Versafine Onyx Black ink).

To assemble the card, I glued the oval panel to the embossed card base with liquid glue. Then I added one pencil vertical, so I had a place for the bears to sit and stand. The other four pencils were added with foam tape following rainbow order. My little sentiment banner was centered on top of these pencils. Then I concluded that the card was cute, but it was missing ‘something’!

I browsed through my dies and found a small streamer die (Crepe Paper Streamer dies) which was the perfect filler. I die cut several pieces and cut them to size before gluing them on the grey oval. I added a few White Diamond jewels as a final embellishment.

Strawberry Patch Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here with you today! Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate! How about a refreshing strawberry lemonade to start celebrating this special day? Tempting, right? Let's see how I made this card, shall we? And then I will serve you a drink!

I started off by creating my strawberry lemonade using the Summer Jar Mug. And I built it the same way I did on my Rainbow Mermaid Kisses card and my Ladybug Fairies card. Here are the different steps:

1. Cut a jar frame out of holographic cardstock, cut a whole jar out of acetate, and stick the holographic frame on the acetate jar using liquid glue

2. Cut more jar frames out of white cardstock, and attach them on the acetate. The number of extra frames depends on the thickness of the shaker accessories. For my fake ice cubes, strawberry clay slices and confetti, I cut and attached eight extra jar frames

3. Cut a whole jar out of a pinkish pattern paper

4. Pour the shaker accessories on the acetate

5. Attach the pinkish jar to the jar frame to totally close the shaker

I cut a Strathmore bristol smooth panel using the largest Stitched Rectangle die, and colored it using oxide inks. I started off by creating a base using, from top to bottom, prize ribbon + salty ocean + tumbled glass oxide inks. Next I used a sunray stencil from my stash along with, from top to bottom, chipped sapphire + prize ribbon + salty ocean oxide inks to create a beautiful pattern on my panel. As always, I added texture to my background, starting with water droplets that I dried using a paper towel. I mixed some black soot oxide ink with water, and used a small brush to make more splatters on my panel, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink. And to bring an extra 4th of July touch, I used a starry stencil from my stash along with white paste to add white stars all over my panel.

Next I cut all the bits and pieces out of colored cardstock: the strawberries, paper streamers, stems, etc. So here is a detailed list of the products I used: • Strawberry Patch - strawberries, leaves, stems, flowers • Summer Jar Mug - parasol, ice cubes, lemon slice, straws • Crepe Paper Streamers. And I cut the parasol out of a Surprise Party red starry pattern paper.

I attached my strawberry lemonade on the panel first, using liquid glue, and then all the pieces using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, liquid glue and 3mm glue dots. I white heat embossed my "Wishing you a happy day" greeting from Panda Party on a light blue Brilliant Banner 1 that I attached below the mug using foam squares again, attached my panel to a larger white panel, and to a larger Very Merry red stripe panel using double sided tape.

I added highlights and details to the die-cut pieces using a white gel pen, glued a few iridescent mini star confetti on the background, and added a white blizzard nuvo drop in the center of each flower to make them shine. And that's it!

Big Bunny Card with Cathy

Hey friends! Cathy here today with a fun birthday card featuring the Big Bunny Stamps. I just love how this adorable bunny can be used for so many occasions!

This is an A2 card and I started with a festive multi-colored background. I cut a piece of white cardstock 4" x 5 1/2" and inked it with Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade Distress inks. For stitched detailing, I die-cut the 5 1/2" edges of the panel using a Ribbon & Lace Borders Die.

Next, I die-cut balloons and streamers from white cardstock using the Bright Balloons Dies and Crepe Paper Streamers Dies. I inked them with the same Distress inks as the panel. I adhered the streamers first and trimmed the excess from the edges. For the balloon strings, I tied gray embroidery floss to each and then adhered the balloons.

I stamped the bunny and bow from the Big Bunny Stamps and the cupcake from the Holiday Hugs Stamps on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock, colored them with Copics and die-cut them using the coordinating dies. I adhered the bunny to the bottom of the panel and added a strip of Spring Fever Paper along the bottom that I die-cut using a Ribbon & Lace Borders Die and cut to 4" long.

I cut 2 strips of black cardstock 5 1/2" long and adhered one under each side of the background panel so just a sliver of black is visible. I then adhered the panel to a white card front.

To finish, I die-cut a punny sentiment from gray and black cardstock using the Hayley Lowercase Alphabet Dies and an exclamation point from the Hayley Uppercase Alphabet Dies. I slightly overlapped the colors to make the gray stand out a bit more. I stamped the "IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!" sentiment from the Puddle Jumpers Stamps on a strip of gray cardstock.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Ashlee Bellinger

Hey, Sunny Studio friends my name is Ashlee and I'm here with a guest post using a bunch of awesome products from Sunny Studio Stamps to get you inspired. I had so much fun creating these cards, I hope you enjoy them too!

For my first card, I used these products :

- Dotted Diamond Portrait die

- Holiday Hugs stamps plus coordinating dies

- Crepe Paper Streamers die

- Perfect Gift Boxes die

- Mini Mat & Tag 2 die

To create this card I started with a grey card stock base. I then die cut the dotted diamond portrait die from a lighter grey card stock before adhering it to the base leaving a slight edging. I wanted this card to be perfect for a birthday celebration so I die-cut a bunch of the crepe paper streamers along with the extra little die pieces in blue so they could be multi-coloured streamers! 

Using the mat from the mini mat and tag die 2 I die cut that from white card stock and adhered that to the base using foam tape to start adding dimension to the card. Once that was in place I was able to add my streamers. 

I just adore the Perfect Gift Boxes die so I die-cut lots of pieces and created three presents which I wanted to pop out from behind the images. I stamped, coloured and die-cut the super sweet Holiday Hugs bear along with an extra present. These were all coloured using spectrum noir tri-blend markers with added white gel pen highlights. 

I adhered these all in place using different levels of foam tape which made it all pop! To complete the card I added a stamped sentiment that was mounted on pink card stock and a touch of pretty sequins for that little bit of bling. 

Onto my second card. For this one, I have a slimline card full of lots of Christmas fun.

I used these products for this card :

- Dashing Dachshund stamps plus coordinating dies 

- North Pole stamps plus coordinating dies

- Slimline Scalloped Frame dies

- Slimline Nature Borders dies

- Victorian Christmas stamp

To create this card I started by die-cutting the largest die from the slimline scalloped frame set from green card stock. I then went ahead and die-cut the sky using the stitched rectangle die from the same set. I wanted to create some snow for the North Pole so I die-cut the rectangle again but this time from white card stock before die-cutting it into snowy ground using a die from the nature borders. I made two layers of snow and adhered them together using foam tape so there were different depths of snow. Now it was ready to stamp and colour a bunch of cuties to create my scene.

I stamped coloured and die-cut a whole bunch of images from all these sets including North Pole, Dashing Dachsund and Victorian Christmas. These were all coloured with a mix of Copic and Spectrum noir tri-blend markers. Using a white pen I added some white highlights. Now they were all coloured and die cut it was time to arrange them into a North Pole scene. 

To complete the card I stamped a sentiment directly into the sky on the card using Memento tuxedo black ink "seasons greetings"  along with a touch of sequins. I think it looks like they are having an absolute blast with Santa and Mrs Claus, don't you?!
