A Cut Above Card with Tina

Hi crafty friends, Tina here with a cute ‘school themed’ card using the fun A Cut Above layering stamp and die set.

As usual, I started with a white card base but this time I added extra texture to the front part by dry embossing with the Dapper Diamonds folder. Next, I cut a panel from an adorable ‘heart’ paper (Subtle Grey Tones) with the largest of the Scalloped Oval Mat 1 dies. I knew I wanted to use bright colors for my pencils and this neutral paper is the perfect background.

After selecting several ink pads from my stash, I started the layering stamping for the fun pencil. A great tip here is to use the black pictures on your packaging to position the stamps. You get a much better view of how to add the next layer. With so much colors on this card, I selected three cute panda bears (Panda Party) and colored them with my Copic markers.

My combined sentiment was taken from the Balloon Rides set and I masked of a part of the saying with post-it tape so it reads ‘Just a note’ now (Versafine Onyx Black ink).

To assemble the card, I glued the oval panel to the embossed card base with liquid glue. Then I added one pencil vertical, so I had a place for the bears to sit and stand. The other four pencils were added with foam tape following rainbow order. My little sentiment banner was centered on top of these pencils. Then I concluded that the card was cute, but it was missing ‘something’!

I browsed through my dies and found a small streamer die (Crepe Paper Streamer dies) which was the perfect filler. I die cut several pieces and cut them to size before gluing them on the grey oval. I added a few White Diamond jewels as a final embellishment.

Crisp Apples Card with Tina

Hi crafty friends, Tina here and today we are creating a fun card with the versatile Build-a-Bowl dies. You can fill this bowl with lots of fruits, I opted for some yummy Crisp Apples!

Instead of a normal rectangle card base, I decided to round the corners and add a fun stripe pattern (stencil from my stash and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide).

I love adding lots of layers to my card, so next I cut a panel from a blue purple paper with one of the Rounded Rectangle Mat dies. I dry embossed this piece with the Dotted Diamond Portrait die. After cutting a smaller white piece of card stock with one of the Stitched Arch dies, I used the Woodgrain embossing folder for extra texture.

Then it was time for my centerpiece, which consists of the pretty bowl (Build-a-Bowl dies) cut from a purple gingham paper (Gingham Pastels) and embellished with a purple border (Ribbon and Lace Borders).

I cut a bunch of apples and leaves (Crisp Apples) from white card stock. I love that you get two sizes and colored them with Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral, Saltwater Taffy, Peacock Feathers and Scorched Timber.

My combined sentiment was taken from the Punny Apple Greetings set and stamped onto a white Brilliant Banner 4 with Versafine Onyx Black ink and a red ink from y stash. I stacked this banner on top of a purple one. A few Champagne Clear jewels were added for that extra sparkle.

Hawaiian Hibiscus & Radiant Plumeria Tropical Flower Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some tropical flower cards featuring our Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps and Radiant Plumeria Stamps.

My first card today showcases the beautiful Hawaiian Hibiscus Stamps. I stamped a number of these flowers in an assembly line, so I had many vibrant colors available to mix and match. Both of my cards today were inspired by a wood texture, so I embossed a piece of kraft paper using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. To emphasize the wonderful texture, I colored over the surface using a Vintage Photo Distress Crayon. Then I rubbed it in with a lightly damp cloth, being careful not to rub it into the background. I followed up, using a blending brush to add Vintage Photo distress ink over the entire piece. For my sentiment, I inked up another piece of kraft paper with the same distress ink, added a stitched edge with the Ribbon & Lace Border Dies, and heat-embossed the "Aloha" greeting from the Tiki Time Stamps.

My second card features the pretty Radiant Plumeria Stamps with a clean and simple design. I started by inking a subtle tone-on-tone overall background print using the Split Philodendron leaf image from the set with Gina K. Sandy Beach Ink on kraft cardstock. I had considered adding the additional layers for this set but favored the less busy look of the single layer. I had three Stitched Circle Die cuts leftover (from the card I shared HERE) that I wanted to put to good use, and I thought they would be perfect layered behind the tropical flowers with the wood texture of the cardstock. I completed my card with a sentiment from the set stamped with VersaFine Clair Acorn Ink and embellished with some Pink Ombre Pearls.

I am frequently asked which ink colors I used for my layered images. Some of these images were previously stamped using now-retired Colorbox inks; however, I spent considerable time trying to find the closest matches to share them here with you (from lightest to darkest).

Oceans of Joy & Tropical Scenes Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi here today, popping in to share some ocean-themed cards for Summer using our Oceans of Joy Stamps and Tropical Scene Stamps.

For my first beach card, I paired the crab and sentiment from the Oceans of Joy Stamps with the Best Fishes Stamps crab. I positioned them on an island from our Tropical Scene Stamps, added the palm tree and parrot from the Sending Sunshine Stamps, and the smiling sun from the Balloon Ride Stamps. I framed my little scene by inking up a Stitched Circle Large Die using Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks and mounted them onto a white embossed backdrop using the Moroccan Circle Embossing Folder. Phew! That might sound like a whole lot of sets to create what turned out to be a clean and simple design, but all of these elements (except for the sun) were leftover pieces that failed to be included on earlier cards, so I was so happy to put them all to good use.

For my second card, I also utilized many elements I had previously colored in earlier years, including this water background I made when I was inking up a series of water-themed backdrops last summer. I never got around to using this one, so it is was so nice to have something ready to go to speed up the process. I love to sit down and make a number of backgrounds like this assembly line style while I already have everything out. This was a full A2-sized panel, but I was able to repurpose it perfectly for this vertical, slimline-style card. I started by fussy-cutting a wavy top along the panel's top with my scissors to form gentle ocean waves. I then tucked the island and one palm tree beneath using our Tropical Scene Stamps and the second larger palm tree from the Sending Sunshine Stamps.

For the ocean floor at the bottom of my card, I added part of the coral and plant border from the Tropical Scenes Stamps. For my greeting, I heat embossed the phrase "wishing you oceans of joy" using the Oceans of Joy Stamps, but I wanted to word "oceans" to be more prominent in my scene and to make the greeting more of a focal point so I used the Loopy Letters Dies to spell out the word in the center. I then arranged the whale, dolphin, octopus, sea turtles, and other fish from the Oceans of Joy Stamps around my greeting. I completed my card by adding three small clouds from the Comic Strip Everyday Dies to fill in some of the empty space around my palm trees and the flipping dolphin.
