Merry Mocha Card with Alma

Hello everyone, Alma here! Today I want to show you a card that is as colorful and cheerful as I imagine Christmas to be! At the center of the card is the winter mug from the Merry Mocha Stamps set. 

Since everyone loves to enjoy a big slice of Christmas cake with their hot cocoa, I stamped the cake from the Special Day Stamps set and decorated it with elements from the Holiday Express Stamps set to give it a festive Christmas look. For me, the "marzipan" tree ;-) is the big highlight of the cake. The cake’s pattern is created with the snowflake from the Merry Mocha Stamps set. I colored the images using Copics.

Overall, the card is designed as an indoor scene, as I created the card base using the Windows Quad Square Dies. This die is perfect for quick window cards and fits a classic card format beautifully. It's also great for making shaker cards. The scent of hot chocolate and Christmas cake has even drawn in guests from outside! As you can see, Santa and his reindeer friends have sneaked up to the window, waiting for a big slice of delicious cake. Santa is from the Santa Claus Lane Stamps, and the reindeer are from the Reindeer Games Stamps set.

For the background, I used Distress Oxide Inks in Chipped Sapphire and Peacock Feathers, and created a winter landscape using the Forest Trees Stencil and a white gel pen. Finally, I added sequins to complete the shaker card! To finish, I used the Brilliant Banner 4 Dies and stamped the text "Have a super jolly Christmas" from the Reindeer Games Stamps set.

Limitless Labels Die Focused Cards with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here, I'm thrilled to be back on the blog with this duo of super cute and extra colorful rainbow summer cards featuring cocktails and sunglasses, which is the perfect combo for a fun summer vacation!

I started off by stamping cocktails, flowers and sunglasses from Big Panda, as well as a bunch of hearts from Special Day on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, my Graph'it brush markers, and my Ohuhu markers.

Next I cut two 5,5 x 4,25 inches Surprise Party panels, and attached each of them to a white card base. I cut sixteen small panels using the second smallest Limitless Labels 1 die: six out of Polka Dot Parade pattern papers, and six more out of Classic Sunburst pattern papers. I attached the first six on the rainbow sprinkles background using 1mm foam squares, and attached the six remaining ones on the rainbow dot background using 1mm foam squares again.

I attached my images on each panel using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, making sure to coordinate everything, and then created two sentiments. I started off by white heat embossing two "Summer" words from Beach Bus on black cardstock, I cut them using the matching die, and attached each word in the middle on each panel using 2mm foam squares. I white heat embossed "Happy" and "Hello" from Beach Bus again on colored cardstock, and trimmed them into small banners that I stuck on my panels using foam squares again.

To finish both cards, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and applied white blizzard nuvo drops to the hearts to make them super shiny. And that's it!

Designer's Choice: Special Day Card with Tina

Hi crafty friends, Tina here and for this designer’s choice I created a special ‘easel’ birthday card mixing several sets.

Starting off with a white square card base and adding several layers using the fun Scalloped Square 1 Dies Small (in white card stock and vellum) and Stitched Square Dies (in teal glitter paper and white card stock). The smallest white square is also dry embossed with the Quilted Hearts Folder.  

I glued all the layers together and before adhering them to the card base, I scored the front of this base horizontally in half. That way, I can add the squares only to the bottom part of the base to create the ‘easel mechanism’.

On the inside of the base I adhered a ‘stopper’ consisting of a rectangle of white card stock on which I stamped the ‘Happy Birthday’ from Everyday Greetings with Versafine Onyx Black ink and a scalloped white banner strip made by using one of the Ribbon & Lace Borders. When you ‘fold’ the front of the card base, the stopper will make sure your easel card is standing up perfectly.

A special birthday deserves a wonderful and festive cake! I selected a two-tiered one decorated with beautiful flowers (Special Day) and colored the image with my Copics in teal, pink and yellow tones. The blue ’70 candles’ make this cake even more amazing! I love how you can provide that extra accent with the numbers.

The cake was mounted to the embossed panel with foam tape for dimension. As extra decoration, I added white leaves from the Winter Greenery Die set and a few Crystal Clear Jewels scattered around the focal point.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Marie Marco

Hello Crafty Friends!! It's Marie back on the blog with two birthday cards featuring the lovely Special Day Stamp. This stamp set features two super adorable layered cake images and number candles perfect for celebrating all the special occasions from birthdays to weddings and everything in between! 

My first card features the gorgeous two tiered floral cake from the set. This design made me want to create a vintage inspired color palette for a friend's 40th birthday. To create this card, I first stamped my images onto watercolor paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink. All my images were colored using Faber- Castell Watercolor pencils. I cut out the images using the corresponding Special Day Dies. To construct my card front, I first die cut an A2 sized base panel from 110 lb Neenah Solar White cardstock paper. I also, cut an A2 sized polka dot pink pattern paper panel which I adhered to the base panel. For a simple elegant touch, I created a gold frame with the Fancy Frames Rectangle Die. 

I really wanted to keep my pattern paper visible while keeping the birthday cake the focal point so I cut out a scalloped panel from vellum paper using the Mini Mat & Tag 1 Dies. Taking my cake image, I used double sided tape to adhere it to the vellum paper. Before adhering the vellum to the pattern paper, I apply double sided tape adhesive to the back of the vellum hidden behind the cake so no tape adhesive is visible on the translucent vellum. To finish off this card, I applied foam strips to the back of the number candles to create some dimension and adhered it to the top of the cake. Finally, I used some Nuvo Crystal Drops on the decorative dots of the cake to create dimension. 

My second card features both the Special Day Stamp and the Birthday Cat Stamp. The Birthday Cat Stamp set is too cute for words! The adorable cats in this set inspired me to create a fun a playful pop up box card purrfect for my cat loving friend. To start off, I cut out all my box card elements from Bristol Smooth Cardstock and inked all the edges using Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink. For all the decorative panels and inside panels, I used the double sided Sunny Studio Dots & Stripes Pastels Paper in the beautiful shade of pink. 

After assembling the box card, I stamped all my images onto watercolor paper and colored them with Faber-Castell Watercolor pencils. I also used party banner images from the Panda Party Stamp. I used the corresponding Birthday Cat Dies, Special Day Dies, as well as the banner dies from Panda Party Dies to cut all my images. I adhered the birthday cake and cats using a strip of cardstock on the backs of all my images so they remain sturdy inside the box. Finally, I stamped my sentiment using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink to the pattern paper and adhered it to the front of the card. I absolutely love how cute this box card turned out that I'm tempted to keep it for myself!
