Designer's Choice: Penguin Pair Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today and I am sharing a fun postcard style card featuring the adorable penguins from the Penguin Pair set. I am completely obsessed with postage and postcard style cards and had to create one with this short stack of cuties and a customized sentiment using the Sydney Alphabet Dies. So let's get started.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Penguin Pair & Sydney Alphabet Die Card by Hanh Nguyen (featuring Diagonal & Straight Stripes Stencils, Big Bunny)

I stamped the penguins from the Penguin Pair Stamp and an envelope from the Big Bunny Stamp sets onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used the coordinating Penguin Pair Dies and Big Bunny Dies to die cut them out. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:
Penguins: T3/4/5/6/7, W00/0/1, Y38 YR04, R000/20
Heart: R14/24/27/29
Envelope: C1, R14/24/29

For the background, I used the Diagonal & Straight Stripes Stencils and some Candied Apple Distress ink to create a striped border on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I took another piece of white cardstock and lightly ink blended some Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink onto the edges. I trimmed a bit off the edges of the pink panel and adhered the two panels together.

For the sentiment, I stamped the "Sending Love &" sentiment from the Big Bunny Stamp set directly onto the pink panel with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the Sydney Alphabet Dies to die cut the PAPER HUGS letters 2 times out of red cardstock. I layered and adhered the letters to each other and then onto the postcard. I accented the letters with a white gel pen. I used a black pen to draw in the line and dots to create a separation of the left and right side of the postcard.

I used the Gift Card Envelopes Dies to die cut two stamps and the LOVE and XOXO letters out of white, red and silver cardstock. I adhered them to the upper right corner of my postcard. I adhered the penguins to the panel with foam tape for a bit of dimension and interest. The panel was adhered to a white A2 card base.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card. For more info and ideas, be sure to visit the Sunny Studio Stamps Shop. Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations.

Guest Designer Spotlight: Cards with Sara Zoppi

Hi crafty friends, Sara here! It's been a long time since I was here, but today I am super happy to be guesting again for Sunny Studio Stamps! And I can't wait to show you two inspiration cards featuring some of the recent released products. So, let's dive into the first card!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Spring Garland & Penguin Pair Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Icing Rectangle Dies)

Spring has come and the Spring Garland stamp set is a must have! As soon as I saw the preview, I knew I would have paired those two corner garlands with the recent released too Penguin Pair, which contains some of the cutest penguins ever!

I firstly stamped all the images I wanted to feature in my scene using Memento Black ink on some alcohol friendly paper. Then I colored all the images with my brand new OLO markers (alcohol markers are my absolutely favourite coloring mediums and I couldn't resist those ones too). The colors I used are listed below. I then added some details with the white gel pen and I die cut everything using the coordinating dies.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Spring Garland & Penguin Pair Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Icing Rectangle Dies)

- Red Combo: R0.6 – R1.5 – R0.4
- Pink combo: RV1.7 – RV1.5 – RV0.4
- Orange combo: O2.7 – O2.5 – O1.3 – YO2.3
- Yellow Combo: Y2.3 – Y1.2 – Y1.1
- Green Combo: YG8.7 – YG1.6 – YG1.4 – YG1.2
- Penguin: RK – RG7 – RG6 – RG5 – OR2.2 – O4.1 – O2.5

For the background, I used the newest Icing Rectangle Frame dies to create a frame using a brown glitter paper and I put inside a piece of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock which I previously splattered with some pearl white ink.

For the sentiment, I used one of the mini phrases included in the previous released Punny Fruit Greetings stamp and I completed it with the word hug, made with the Chloe Alphabet Dies.

I assembled all the pieces with a mix of liquid glue and foam tape, in order to create depth, and then I matted the whole scene with a sligthly larger white panel. To complete everything, I also added some clear sparkly sequins. And here's the finished result!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Wooly Friends Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Loopy Rectangle Frame Dies)

For my second inspiration, I went for a more "graphical" card, using the Woolly Friends stamp set. Who says sheep are only "Easter-themed"? Easter has already passed and I had to think something different.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Wooly Friends Card by Sara Zoppi (featuring Loopy Rectangle Frame Dies)

I decided to start creating a custom "patterned" design, with a sort of no-line coloring on some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, since my sheep are black and white. I repeatedly stamped three of the ones included in the stamp set (I chose the three who are symmetrical) using a light brown ink and then I colored all of the faces with OLO (BK- CG9 – CG7 – CG5 – CG4 – OR1.2 for the blush). As always, when I do some no-line coloring, I use coordinating pencil colors to add some details at the edges of my images. Then I used a white pencil to fill the wool and I added some white gel dots on the "fur" to create some texture. I filled the empty spaces between the sheep with some black and white dots too.

I then moved to the rest of the card. I knew I wanted to use this custom patterned panel create a sentiment at the right bottom corner, so I white heat embossed the "life is better" phrase on some black paper and I die cut the EWE word from black glitter cardstock using the same alphabet of the previous card.

I also die cut the largest Loopy Rectangle Frame die to add a frame on my patterned panel. While I was glueing all down, I realized I would have loved to add another single sheep next to the sentiment, so I stamped it on a white paper and I colored using the same combo, then I die cut it with the coordinating die. I assembled everything on a piece of A2 white panel and here's the finished result too!

Thanks for stopping by! I really hope you will like my projects and you will be inspired to create something! See you next time!

Sydney Alphabet Die Focused Card with Tina M

Hello there! Tina M here sharing a card created with the Sydney Alphabet Dies!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Sydney Alphabet & Penguin Pair Birthday Card by Tina Magnusson (featuring Spring Garland, Icing Rectangle Frame Dies)

For my card I used an A2 size card base. I started by trimming a piece of the red sunburst patterned paper from the Classic Sunburst Paper pack to 5,5 x 4,25 inches and adhered it to my card base using double sided tape. Next, I stamped the flowers and butterflies from the Spring Garland Stamp set, one of the penguins and a bow from the Penguin Pair Stamp set on alcohol ink friendly card stock using Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored them with my Copic Markers, see list below. I then die cut the images out using the coordinating Spring Garland Dies and Penguin Pair Dies.

Copic colors used:
Flowers: R01/02/05, Y17
Leaves: YG61/63, G94/95
Penguin: N3/4/5/6/8, W0/1/3, R00/30/32, YR21/24/27
Bow: R01/02/05
Butterflies: R01/02/05, YG61, W3

Next, I die cut the largest of the Icing Rectangle Frame Dies and the words happy and birthday out of watercolor paper using the Sydney Alphabet Dies, and colored them using a super sparkly metallic watercolor! I also die cut the letters from black cardstock, to create a shadow to the watercolored letters.

I adhered the rectangle frame and the letters to the card base using liquid glue. I added foam dots to back of the flowers, butterflies and the penguin for dimension and adhered them to the card!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you all a happy and colorful day!

Spring Garland Card with Tina M

Hello there! Tina M here sharing a card created with the Spring Garland Stamps!

Sunny Studio Stamps: Spring Garland & Penguin Pair Friendship Card by Tina Magnusson (featuring Loopy Rectangle Frame Dies, Dotted Diamond Dies, Inside Greetings Friends)

For my card I used an A2 size card base. I started off by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 5 x 3,75 inches and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Dotted Diamond Landscape Die. Next, I ink blended the panel with turquoise ink. I then trimmed a piece of black cardstock for a frame to go behind my ink blended panel and adhered them to the card base, using double sided tape.

I then die cut out the third largest of the Loopy Rectangle Frame Dies, from both black and white card stock. Using the frame only from the black card stock and the inside piece from the white to ink blend it using the same ink as I used for the Dotted diamond panel. Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Inside Greetings Friend Stamps. I adhered the two pieces to the Dotted Diamond panel using liquid glue.

Now on to the stamping of the images! I stamped the flowers and butterflies from the Spring Garland Stamp set, two of the penguins and accessories from the Penguin Pair Stamp set on alcohol ink friendly card stock using Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored them with my Copic Markers, see list below.

Copic colors used:
Flowers: RV52/55/V000, Y15
Leaves: YG61/63
Penguin: N3/4/5/6, C0/1, R00/30/32, YR21/24/27
Sweater, bows and butterflies: RV52/55/V000, Y11/15/17

I then die cut the images out using the coordinating Spring Garland Dies and Penguin Pair Dies. I added foam dots to back of the flowers, butterflies and the penguins for dimension and adhered them to the card!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you all a happy and colorful day!

Radiating Circles Die Focused Card with Hanh

Hello Crafty Friends! This is Hanh on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog today and I have a circle-shaped easel card to share with you featuring these adorable Penguin Pair penguins and the Radiating Circles Dies set. Have you ever made an easel card? I have a super easy easel card technique to share with you today that requires no special dies. So, let’s get started.

Sunny Studio Stamps: Radiating Circles & Penguin Pair Card by Hanh Nguyen

I stamped the penguin image from the Penguin Pair Stamp set onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the coordinating Penguin Pair Dies to die cut them out. I colored the images with Copic markers and accented with a white gel pen.

COPIC COLORS:
Penguins: T3/4/5/6/7, W00/0/1, R000/20, Y38 YR04

To create the easel card, I stared with a piece of pink cardstock (4.25” x 8.5”) that I scored and folded in half to create a 4.25” square note card. I secured the largest die from the Radiating Circles Dies set on top of the note card just slightly beyond the fold line so as to die cut through both layers of cardstock while maintaining the fold line for a hinge for my card base. I ran the die and note card through my die cutting machine. NOTE: it may be necessary to run it through multiple times since you are cutting through two layers of cardstock. Next, I used a score board to scored a line (parallel to the fold line or hinge) at the 2” mark on the front flap of the card base. I folded along the score line. You now have your easel card base. Super easy, right? This technique can be easily used for just about any shape of card.

For my card today, I used the same largest die from the Radiating Circles Dies set to die cut another circle out of darker pink cardstock. I also used the second largest circle die from the set to die cut a circle out of white cardstock. I lightly ink blended some Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink to the center of the white circle.

I positioned my colored penguins onto the white circle and adhered the upper two penguins slightly hanging off of the edge of the circle. I found it easiest to flip the white circle to view the backside as I used a sharp pair of scissors to cut off the excess portion of those two penguins.

For the sentiments on the front of the card, I stamped the “Hi” from the Vintage Valentine Stamp set directly onto the white circle with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped the “Hello” from the Tulip Path Background Stamp set onto a piece of of white cardstock with the same black ink. I used the coordinating Tulip Path Background Dies to die cut it out. I adhered the last penguin and the Hello sentiment to the white circle with foam tape for some dimension and interest.

I adhered the white circle to the larger darker pink circle. Then I adhered the darker pink circle card front panel to the easel card base. NOTE: I found that the easiest method was to add adhesive to the bottom half of the front flap of the card base. This way, you won’t accidentally adhere the card front panel to the upper half of the easel card base and thus hinder the easel card mechanism. When adhered properly, only the bottom half of the darker pink card front panel should be attached to the card base.

Next, I used the smallest of the 3 large heart dies from the Stitched Heart 2 Dies to die cut two small white hearts. I stamped the “You make my heart smile!” sentiment from the Vintage Valentine Stamp set onto one of the hearts with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. Adhered the two white hearts to each other to give it a little bulk before I adhered the hearts to the inside of the easel card base. This served as both the sentiment and the stopper for my easel card. Lastly, I finished the card with a few pink hearts die cut from the Stitched Heart 2 Dies set.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and visit today. I hope you liked my card and will give this super easy easel card technique a try. For more info and ideas, be sure to visit the Sunny Studio Stamps Shop. Please also visit my INSTAGRAM feed for more inspirations.
