Beach Babies & Coastal Cuties Cards with Mendi

Hello and welcome! This is Mendi, popping in to share some bright & happy summer cards featuring our Beach Babies Stamps and Coastal Cuties Stamps. 

For my first card, I used the Frilly Frames Stripes Dies to cut a striped background from scratch cardstock, which I used as a stencil with the discontinued Deco Foil Metallix Gel in White Pearl. After the medium was completely dry, I inked on alternating colors of Distress Ink for a happy rainbow background.

I then die-cut my oval frame's top and bottom portion using the Stitched Oval Dies with blue cardstock for the sky and tan cardstock for the sand. I trimmed my sandy hill using the Slimline Nature Border Dies and stippled the sand texture using E42, E43, and E44 Copic Markers. For the images in my summer scene, I used the girl from the Coastal Cuties Stamps, the smiling sun from the Balloon Rides Stamps, and all the other accessories from the Beach Babies Stamps. Lastly, I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Beach Babies set onto a pennant strip from the Notebook Photo Corners Dies onto a pink print from our Classic Gingham Paper pack.

My second card features the kids in pool floaties from the Beach Babies Stamps and Coastal Cuties Stamps. I cut and layered two wave borders cut with the Catch a Wave Dies and inked the bottom portion of each wave using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. For extra interest, I added sea foam to the top edge of each wave by adding dots with my white gel pen. For my curved sandy border on the bottom of my card, I used the Slimline Nature Border Dies and added a pink striped border between the waves and sand using the Ribbon & Lace Border Dies with Striped Silly Paper.

Ocean View Card with Amanda

Hey friends! It’s Amanda back here with you on the blog today! I just got back from the beach and I am FEELING this card right now! Nothing better than a girls’ day on the beach!

I had so much fun coloring this card and I’m excited to share with you all the details about this card! The background stamp is from the Ocean View Stamps. I stamped it using my MISTI and black ink onto a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4”x5.25”.

I stamped my girlies from the Beach Babies Stamps on a separate piece of white cardstock. The inner tube came from the Beach Buddies Stamps. I stamped my sentiment directly onto my background, using my MISTI to line it up perfectly!

Once I had all my stamping done, it was time to color! I used Copic markers to color all the images and a white Gelly Roll pen for all the dots and highlights.

Once colored, I cut the images out with their coordinating die sets. Next, I put 3D foam squares behind the images and adhered them to my card panel. Finally, I glued the card panel to an A2 card base.

Tiki Time Card with Marine

Hello crafty friends, Marine here with you today, I'm so happy to be back on the blog! Since summer is officially here, I thought it would be nice to take you to the beach, drink some refreshing cocktails and have fun in the ocean. As very often, the scene I had in mind was extra busy with many images, so I went for a slimline design to create my card.

I started off by stamping all the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and then colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush markers.

As always, here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Tiki Time - bar, torches, cocktails, leaves, toucans • Seasonal Trees - palm tree, coconuts • Tropical Birds - flowers • Paris Afternoon - table & parasol, chairs • Beach Bus - surfboard • Ocean View - seashell • Beach Babies - two characters, balloon • Kiddie Pool - four characters, droplets • Beach Buddies - sunglasses, snorkeling mask.

I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, set them aside for later, and cut a 3 x 8 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel. I masked the stitched edges off with washi tape, divided it in three sections using washi tape again, and used oxide inks to create my beach landscape:

• in the upper section, I created a cloudy sky using a stencil from my stash along with tumbled glass and broken china. I mixed some broken china oxide ink with water, and used a slim brush to add splatters to my sky,

• on the middle section, I blended antique linen and vintage photo to create sand, and added brown splatters using vintage photo oxide ink,

• on the lower section, I did the ocean using broken china and uncharted mariner, and added dark blue splatters using uncharted mariner oxide ink.

Next I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and added white splatters all over the panel. And to give the illusion of sea foam between the sand section and the ocean section, I applied white ink on that area using a sponge dauber, and added even more ink using the rounded end of a brush.

When my panel was dry, I white embossed "Happy summer" from Beach Babies at the very bottom, and then I attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares.

Next I cut a scalloped panel out of aqua cardstock using a Slimline Scalloped Frame die, attached it to an 8,5 x 3,5 inches white card base using 1mm foam tape, and finally stuck my beach scene panel using foam tape again.
