Hello there! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday week! We are switching gears and transitioning from Christmas to Spring this week featuring a new mini love inspired set called Snail Mail.
Card No.1: For my first card I started by creating a chevron striped background alternating red, pink and aqua stripes cut using our Ric Rac Border dies, using a clear ruler to keep them straight and centered on my card. I then cut two stitched circle mats (using dies that will be shared more next week) together with the grassy border from our Slimline Nature Border Dies. I colored the mailbox, snails and love letters with Copics from the new Snail Mail stamps. For my "love you" sentiment, I used a stamp from our Savanna Safari Stamps and mounted them onto a thought bubble from our Comic Strip Speech Bubbles dies.
Card No.2: For my next card I just focused on the mailbox from the Snail Mail stamps, pairing it with the polar bear & "I love you" greeting from our Playful Polar Bear Stamps and the snow drift from the Slimline Nature Border dies. I inked behind them with some Picked Raspberry Distress ink and then framed my little scene using our Fancy Frame Square Dies which I die-cut from red cardstock.
For my background I stamped our Cascading Heart Stamps first in pink and then offset my paper and stamped them with a second series in red. As a final touch I added the stitching to the edge of my card panel using our Slimline Basic Border dies and a small scalloped edge cut from our Classic Gingham Paper.
Here's a closer look at the new Snail Mail stamps and Snail Mail dies. While these are available in our store now, the rest of our Spring Release will be shared with our Sneak Peek Week next week and available to purchase on January 8th.
I hope you will check back each day this week to see more fun ideas using this cute set by the rest of the team. :)
Hello & welcome to Sunny Studio's fifth Birthday celebration!!!
Can you believe it's already been five years? In many ways it feels like I have been attempting to scale a mountain to reach this special milestone, but on the other hand I can't believe how quickly the years flew by. Our little company wouldn't be here today without YOU, our loyal customers. Your kind support and sweet notes of encouragement truly keep me going.
I would also like to take a moment to thank the 28 designers (from both past and present), countless more guest designers and Laura Vegas, our social media coordinator, for keeping this blog full of inspiring projects week after week. Their tireless efforts and oodles of creativity have meant the world to me and I couldn't run this company without them. ❤️
I'm super excited to share that we will have three new team members joining us starting next week! Please help me in welcoming these sweet and talented ladies to the blog!
Today I have a video sharing a closer look at all the new products from our fall & winter sneak peek week, along with all the cards I created using them:
I also have a few new cards that I didn't get to share earlier in the week.
For my flowers I used a combination of the poinsettias that come with our Window Quad Circle Dies and the mini poinsettia die that automatically come FREE with all orders placed in our store while supplies last, adding Wine Berry Pearls to the center of each. For the sprigs of greenery tucked behind my flowers I used those same Season's Greetings stamps together with the Season's Greetings dies.
Card No. 2: For my next card, I finally got to create my ice skating rink that I didn't get to share earlier in the week using our new Winter Scenes Stamps and dies. This set come with the option a curved line can be added or omitted to the tree border to create the edge of a pond or ice skating rink like I did here. For my snowy background I ink up my sky with tumbled glass distress ink and then heat embossed the flakes using our Frosty Flurries stamps. I was excited to pull out an older favorite, Playful Polar Bears, for my ice skating bear which I colored with Copic Markers.
I then added stitching and ric-rac trim to the edge of my panel using our Slimline Basic Border Dies and stamped my sentiment using the Inside Greetings Holiday Stamps with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. To tie in the blue of my bear's scarf, I added a strip of blue striped paper from our new Sleek Stripes Paper pack and scattered some royal blue snowflakes using our Snowflake Circle Frame dies. When everything else was done I added some Stardust Stickles to my row of trees and set it aside to dry for a couple hours. I just love the they sparkle!
Card No. 3: I was sad I didn't get to create a card using one of the two different balloon options that come with our North Pole Stampsso I squeezed one in for today, pairing them with some metallic gold embroidery thread for the strings. I used our Slimline Scalloped Frame dies to create a panel that goes off the edge for my A2 sized card, mounting it onto a green striped paper from our Dot & Stripes Jewel Tones Paper.
I colored both my girl and balloons with Copic markers and stamped some stars from the set with clear VersaMark Ink before heat embossing them with glittery gold embossing powder. I learned the hard way that is definitely a step you will want to do before you glue down your balloons though as the metallic thread will melt and snap in two when it comes in contact with the heat gun. I guess I should have thought that through. For my sentiment I cut apart the scripty words "Christmas Cheer" that come with the stamp set and instead replaced the word "Christmas" with one of the smaller options in the set that would fit better in the space I had left to work with.

Also,
I had to bring back one of my fave cuties ever for this card: this little bear
from the Playful Polar Bear set! First of all I inked
some white cardstock with Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress Inks, then
I die cut my intricate frame out of it and set it aside. I created a
coordinated cardbase out of white cardstock and I also cut out 2 matching
panel. I die cut a stitched hill out of the first using the Woodland Borders set and colored the
second one by sponging Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks. I let it
dry completely then added some white and sparkle watercolor splatters.
For this card I had glitter garland with lots of sparkle and
shine in mind! I started with die cutting a piece of light blue glitter
cardstock with garland frame and Merry Christmas
dies. I cut the frame twice and sentiments 3 times out of light blue
cardstock and adhered all the layers of each die cut together, offsetting the
layers of the sentiment to create the shadow. Next, I die cut the berries out
of navy and white cardstock and layered them, then cut holly leaves (from Basic Mini Shape dies set)
out of white cardstock.
For the background, I inked Iced Spruce, Stormy Sky and Broken
China distress ink, leaving the center light. Once the panel was dry I white
heat embossed a few snowflakes (from Alpaca Holiday stamps). I
adhered all the die cuts to the background and to finish off the card, added
glossy accents to the berries. I
just love how this garland frame card turned out! Garland Frame die set is so
gorgeous and versatile – just imagine the possibilities! Thank you so much for
stopping by today! Until next week – Happy Crafting!
